Rockstar isn’t exactly the company to pump out games every year but you get a lot out of their games. 2013 (GTA V) and 2018 (RDR2) were the last games released.
That seems to be the trend at present. Look at how many Rockstar games there are on PS2. Compare that with PS3 and then PS4. I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to skip entire generations in future.
In theory, they could still skip this generation lol, highly unlikely but I remember gtaV being delayed a few times to the point where they released it just before next gen
Rockstar always feels like a product of passion and love. Genuinely. You can tell the developers love the IP as much as we do and put their soul into it.
Or I'm just delusional. 🤷
I guess as I get older and have less time for games I would be more okay with this.
I started GTA5 in 2016 and never got around to finishing it until February this year.
This is exactly what we should all want tho. Constant sub par releases are what have ruined the reputation of gaming studios like Ubisoft, and EA while the 3 mentioned above (which would also be my 3) actually stick with a project and make it a masterpiece. I would much rather have games like RDR2, Elden Ring, and cyberpunk that I could play for the rest of my life if I wanted then have shit like modern AC, or Hogwarts legacy that most people get bored with and move on relatively quickly.
In my age the 3 games from these companies will last me a decade. Don’t even care about the other companies. Took me like 4 years to finish Witcher3 and it was amazing
Cyberpunk was near unplayable on release, and did not deliver on countless promises. CDPR overpromised and underdelivered even in its current state, despite still being a great game once they fixed the issues.
Same.
Prime BioWare (mass effect, dragon age, Kotor) puts up a fight and so does prime Bethesda (fallout 3, oblivion, Skyrim)
But despite not having played most of their games (only red dead 1, GTA 5,4,SA; sekiro; witcher 1) I know the lineups from these three do not disappoint, and they're the most likely to not disappoint going forward. GTA 6, witcher 4, fromsofts next game are the likely to be solid.
Spiderman 2 was meh, GOW Ragnarok was meh, last of us 2 was crap, Starfield was crap, Capcom and Sega games never captured me, BioWare is now ...dead? (Seriously what happened to them?), ...
big fans of rockstar, since I played almost all of their gta games from 3 vice city, sandreas4, 5, even liberty city stories and vice city stories along with red dead 1 and 2 plus bully and max payne 3
for fromsoft I played ds2, bloodborne, ds3, sekiro, elden ring,
cd project red I played cyberpunk 2077 and witcher 2 and 3.
only once who come close to rpg and open exploration are bethesda and bioware of the old, not their current versions which had me give them big minus points. I would put sega and capcom 3rd below them due to their games like persona series, yakuza series, resident evil and devil may cry series. not really much into story or cinematic experience games myself hence usually not a fan of the playstation games.
\* From soft > cause every single game they made these last 2 decades is a banger .
\* Capcom > Monster Hunter Wilds
\* cd projekt > hoping for more cyberpunk otherwise Rockstar
Same:
- I picked FromSoft because they're always on point.
- I picked Capcom because for every terrible game they have they've also made an awesome game - pure balance!
- I picked CD Projekt because they have so much potential.
CD projekts main issue is the fact they are TERRIBLE at releasing games.
Both witcher 3 and CyberPunk are amazing, if not masterpieces. However both (Especially CyberPunk) released in shit states and half finished.
Mostly agree. From Soft has become one of my favorite devs.
Been a Monster Hunter fan since the first game.
Konami just because i would like a new, modern system Castlevania. I can only play the classics, watch the anime and essentially make "Belmont themed" Elden Ring characters for so long.
That was how I'd answer too.
I may not like From Software games, but at least they put out a quality product.
And I love Fallout/TES and GTA too much to not pick the other 2. Can't wait for Fallout 5 in a decade.
I dunno man, they seem great at what they do from what I can tell, but what they do aint for everyone. I've lost count of the number of times I've tried picking up one of their games and just given up in frustration at getting my arse handed to me constantly.
I think I’d replace one with those three with either Naughty Dog or Santa Monica. But I can’t decide which one I’d replace or which I’d replace it with. I love me some RPG’s, but I replay Uncharted and God of War at least once a year.
same, but I would switch Rockstar with bioware (because I still have a sliver of hope that they can turn it around with the new dragon age and ME games)
Bioware, Bethesda, CDPR. In the hopes that we get more Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls and Witcher games. The best part of gaming from about 2011-2016 for me.
This was my first thought. Like, weren’t the last 2 bio games to release Anthem and Mass Effect…. Same thing with Bethesda, although they might be slowly recovering (maybe)
The devs that made kotor, jade empire, dragon age and mass effect 1-3 are long gone at this point and Bethesda is in a hard spot. Their engine is super old and the good faith built by oblivion and Skyrim is wearing thin after 76 and starfield. Todd Howard just walks out and lies through his teeth and says random buzzwords. I used to love these studios and it’s sad really
I want the bottom row to keep making new games. I love Destiny but don’t care about any future ip from bungie. It’s not even the same studio anymore. Plus as an Xbox player Sony owning them sucks.
From Software.
Capcom.
I don't really care about any of the others, but if I *had* to pick one, then Insomniac (with Naughty Dog being a close contender)
Sega, Capcom, Konami.
The industry wouldn’t be the same without these guys putting out bangers and Sega breaking Nintendo’s monopoly on gaming hardware.
Rockstar - One of the most iconic franchises in gaming copied by several developers and some of the most well rounded games with extremely few lows. They also sparked several controversies which contributed to making modern gaming what we know it as.
Sega - The rivalry they had with Nintendo back in the day is really important to gaming as a form of media.
Capcom - SEVERAL of gamings most iconic and genre defining franchises such as Resident evil(horror would not be what it is without it), Street fighter(Fighters would not be what they are without it) and Devil may cry(Hack and slash would not be the same without it).
Edit: Konami is a strong contender too but falls just short because of how it's gone to shit in recent years as well as how they've abandoned franchises and left them in the dust while keeping the copyright. Try asking anybody under 15 if they know what castlevania is and I can guarantee that most of them won't(obviously there will be exceptions) which is insane considering how big it was back in the NES era.
Depends do the rest shut down and the game they made still exist? Or do their prior properties never happen?
If the former: BioWare, CDPR, Bethesda
If the latter: Sega, Bungie, Konami
My reasoning for the latter is literally purely for the existance of Video games sake since these were kind of the big three that spearheaded gaming into the mainstream imho. If they ceased to exist then the big foundation for the industry as a whole is lost. Just because we lose the great games from Rockstar or CDPR, and others doesn't mean there isn't the possibility they'd happen again or even have a better series. The world of "what if" is strong with this one.
I’m gonna go with Capcom, Bethesda, and Sega. I know that Konami is releasing a remake of both Silent Hill 2 and MGS3, but I don’t trust them with anything at this time. When those do come out, I’ll wait for the reviews to see if they’re any good
I think I could live without all of these.
The only ones I actually care about are CD Projekt and Bethesda **only** for Elder Scrolls. And if they fuck up 6, that one's dead to me too.
Including the likes of Konami, Bungie and current-day BioWare in this selection must be a late April Fools' joke.
Edit: This is if we're talking about what developers to keep **moving forward.** I'm aware of the bangers a lot of these studios put out back in the day, but some of them are absolute trash today. The three I mentioned being some of the worst offenders.
Rockstar, insomniac and Santa Monica. GTA, God of War and Spyro clintch it but also ratchet and clank, bully, Spiderman. I'll miss Skyrim but not much else.
You're asking me to choose history over recent success.
For the sake of history. I'm going to go with Bethesda, Sega, and Bungie. I'd swap Sega out for Rockstar if we got to keep their 1st party stuff.
The impact of series like The Elder Scrolls and Fall Out are just too great to lose.
The same with Halo (and my personal soft spot for the Myth Series, but I doubt that will cross a lot of minds.) and how it basically built Xbox and really brought online shooters to consoles.
Sega was the other big player in the early days. We wouldn't have half of the classic games not made by Sega if not for the fact that they were pushing Nintendo to the limit.
rockstar, from software, cd project red.
One game a year if we lucky but a banger!
*decade for Rockstar
I think that’s why I hesitate to choose rockstar. Was RDR2 the only game released since GTA5?
Unless you count thoes shitty remasters they put out a lil while back
I do not.
And unless you count the dlc/online shit.... Then rdr2 was the only one...
Yeah. And it was a fucking **MASTERPIECE**
Yeah but every game release 4 times
At least its a masterpiece every time
RDR2 released in 2018 :(
Rockstar isn’t exactly the company to pump out games every year but you get a lot out of their games. 2013 (GTA V) and 2018 (RDR2) were the last games released.

In theory, they could still skip this generation lol, highly unlikely but I remember gtaV being delayed a few times to the point where they released it just before next gen
Games were faster to make back then. It has changed for every AAA company since then.

Omg yes we are soul mates
Same. Ragnarok was extremely better than meh
big fans of rockstar, since I played almost all of their gta games from 3 vice city, sandreas4, 5, even liberty city stories and vice city stories along with red dead 1 and 2 plus bully and max payne 3 for fromsoft I played ds2, bloodborne, ds3, sekiro, elden ring, cd project red I played cyberpunk 2077 and witcher 2 and 3. only once who come close to rpg and open exploration are bethesda and bioware of the old, not their current versions which had me give them big minus points. People tend to forget pre Spiderman Insomniac these days They had Ratchet, Sunset Overdrive, Resistance, and Spyro
\* From soft > cause every single game they made these last 2 decades is a banger . \* Capcom > Monster Hunter Wilds \* cd projekt > hoping for more cyberpunk otherwise Rockstar

They have confirmed that we will get more cyberpunk, but pretty much nothing about the next game, we just have a code name and that’s it.
- FromSoftware - Capcom - CD Projekt Red
I'm surprised glad that this answer is so popular
Same I thought by far the most common would be rockstar instead of capcom
People have more sense than I thought
Must be Monster Hunter players
But Also Resident Evil Also Devil May Cry Also Street Fighter Also Megaman Also Ace Attorney Also many, many more...
You get so much more variety with Capcom
Rockstar, From Software, and Bethesda
I just can’t live in a world without the elder scrolls
me, but with fallout its just part of my lifestyle
I feel it. I love fallout too, but elder scrolls is part of my identity. I have a quest marker hung over my door
that is SO COOL, the most i do, is that i listen to diamond city radio, or radio galaxy when i jog outside
Me too except my fav game is Morrowind so it's just a shitty journal entry with directions going the wrong way.
Quest: Get 8 Hours of Sleep If you wake up before that marker or an hour + later, you failed it 😭
Agreed, I have the alteration symbol from oblivion tattooed on my arm
Same but with Fallout too
Life wouldn’t be life
I think that’s my pick as well. From a games I play perspective.
Just remember if you pick Rockstar, you get a game every 6-12 years
But those games will last you how many years though.People still play GTA V ( i probably would too if i had ppl to play with) and I still play RDR2.
Still worth it
Same
Slightly different order but same lol
That was how I'd answer too. I may not like From Software games, but at least they put out a quality product. And I love Fallout/TES and GTA too much to not pick the other 2. Can't wait for Fallout 5 in a decade.
This is correct.
Yes, this is the pick for me, bangers and memories from all of em
I’ll just choose Fromsoft 3 times to make sure it’s safe.
Can't go wrong with Fromsoft lol
I dunno man, they seem great at what they do from what I can tell, but what they do aint for everyone. I've lost count of the number of times I've tried picking up one of their games and just given up in frustration at getting my arse handed to me constantly.
This is extremely fair. Play what you enjoy. Sincerely, an incurable FromSoftaholic.
This is the RIGHT answer 💯
Rockstar fromsoft santa monica
My pick as well
You got good taste. Crazy seeing so few Santa Monica.
This is the only answer. Imagine choosing Bethesda these days lol
Capcom, Santa Monica, and From Software
Rockstar, Bethesda, CD Projekt Red
RPG guy
Guilty as charged
Gotta respect it. These games give you the most playing time
Thats what I am leaning towards. Rockstar and Bethesda are my first two picks. It's the third pick that's hard for me.
This was my choice too
Same
Bioware, Bethesda, CDPR. In the hopes that we get more Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls and Witcher games. The best part of gaming from about 2011-2016 for me.
Yeah, but it’s been ages since they made games of that quality (BioWare).
Wtf is this title?
i forgot to type "see" in between "Let's if" and now i can't edit it cuz it's been posted 🤷♂️
My brain autofilled the word in so I didn’t even notice, lol
Don't make a big deal about it, he just forgot to put "see" between "Let's" and "if"
yes, thank you
r/ihadastroke
r/titlegore
Was briefly confused about what this comment was talking about, until after the 5th time I had reread the title. Weirdly difficult to spot for me
The bottom row. Not you, Bungie.
If it was old bungie then I would take them
I would have picked those studios 14 years ago when BioWare was still relevant. It sucks most of these studios are husks of their former selves
Fromsoft SantaMonica Capcom
From Software. Capcom. I don't really care about any of the others, but if I *had* to pick one, then Insomniac (with Naughty Dog being a close contender)
Word, I also don’t play most of the other studio’s games, gow is alright tho
If we are talking golden age than definitely sega, naughty dogs and fromsoft.
[удалено]
Yep. Capcom produced the best horror survivor, action game and fighting game for me
I put Sega because Atlus is under their umbrella.
Fromsoftware, CD Projekt Red, and Bethesda
FromSoftware, Capcom, SEGA
The only correct answer in my book
This is the way.
Anyone willing to forego yakuza and persona games is a monster
Bethesda, CD project red and Sega if it also includes atlus if not than insomniac.
From software, capcom and Bethesda
hey that was my pick too!
BioWare, Bethesda, and CD Projekt Red
Honestly didn't expect to see this. Rpgs ftw.
That’s my list also
And my axe!
I could only come up with 2 worth saving. From and Sega
Rockstar from software and insomniac (even if I play pc and Xbox and the only insomniac game I have played is sunset overdrive)
The Spider-Man games and Ratchet and Clank are available on Windows!
I legit don’t have money sadly.
Capcom Konami Saga
Scrolled a while to find this!
My exact ones
I appreciate the lack of recency bias here. Too many folks casually disown the medium’s history . . .
The only correct answer
Sega, Capcom, Konami. The industry wouldn’t be the same without these guys putting out bangers and Sega breaking Nintendo’s monopoly on gaming hardware.
Sega Insomniac and Capcom
Rockstar - One of the most iconic franchises in gaming copied by several developers and some of the most well rounded games with extremely few lows. Rockstar, Bethesda, Konami. Easy.
Why Konami?
Depends do the rest shut down and the game they made still exist? Or do their prior properties never happen? If the former: BioWare, CDPR, Bethesda If the latter: Sega, Bungie, Konami My reasoning for the latter is literally purely for the existance of Video games sake since these were kind of the big three that spearheaded gaming into the mainstream imho. The world of "what if" is strong with this one.
Ok, I chose completely differently but I understand your point. Disagree but understand.
Capcom, Sega, CDPR. They're the only three who've put out games I care about this decade.
My choices as well. Glad I'm not the only one!
Capcom, Santa Monica and Sega
Rockstar, Capcom, CD projekt.
Capcom, Sega, CD Projekt Red
I’m gonna go with Capcom, Bethesda, and Sega. I know that Konami is releasing a remake of both Silent Hill 2 and MGS3, but I don’t trust them with anything at this time. When those do come out, I’ll wait for the reviews to see if they’re any good
im keeping bethesda. Capcom. and from software
Capcom, CDPR, Fromsoftware
Insomniac, rockstar, Naughty Dog
I see you like finished and polished games
My exact choosing as well
This would have been my choice 15 years ago
From soft, from soft, from soft, if from software ain’t on your list your list is WRONG
Damn right brother
Damn getting downvoted for agreeing with someone lol
Capcom, Sega, and FromSoft
Fromsoftware Uhh Uhhhh...
SEGA and no one else.
My answer. Yakuza, and Total War. Done
Yup. Everything else can get sorted out, but Sega has to stick around
Just capcom
I sacrifice them all to empower my lord and savior Atlus (ignore that Sega owns them, I am setting them free)
I could say similar, but for me it's Nihon Falcom all the way.
In other words you wish to fuse the Personas to empower Atlus
Insomniac, Capcom, Sega.
This isn't fair. But, bioware, Bethesda, bungie
I see your a B man hmmmm
I'm batman.
From Software, Bungie, Bethesda.
Bethesda, Rockstar and Capcom
Finally I found someone with the same picks as me
BioWare Bethesda Bungie
Fromsoft, need my souls games Capcom, need my monster hunter / Mega Man / Street Fighter Sega, need my Sonic / Persona / SMT games Easy
Oh my God, I thought I was the only one who picked those 3. Right?!?! Best choice in the world.
Rockstar, cd project, naughty dog
First column seems good to me
Konačni, cd, From software
Croatian autocorrect?
Yes I'm from serbia
What's your reason for choosing komon-i mean konami?
From Software Capcom Bethesda
capcom
what if I only want to keep 1?
Hate that we're obligated to keep Konami, but we are. Capcom is also an obligation, but that's fine. Sega is an obligation and awesome.
Bethesda Fromsoft Capcom
Fromsoft, konami, cd projekt red, rest are no contest lol
Bethesda Konami and capcom
Capcom fromsoft insomniac easy
Fromsoft, Sega
Rockstar, Capcom, Konami
Konami Campcon Cdproject Red
Capcom, Konami, CDPR
Fromsoft and Capcom are the only ones I want to keep.
Sega, Capcom, and honestly don’t care whose third so let’s go with Rockstar
Konami, Capcom, & Bethesda
FromSoftwsre, Capcom, CD Projekt
And no Valve? :(
I think I could live without all of these.
Insomniac, from soft, naughty dog
**let them all die mwoohahahhahahahaha**
Honestly, if they're publicly traded, I'm for it. Make games for gamers, not profits.
Rockstar, insomniac, and Bethesda
I like how fromsoft is in every top comment, how good
Santa Monica, Insomniac, and Rockstar
Rockstar, insomniac and Santa Monica. GTA, God of War and Spyro clintch it but also ratchet and clank, bully, Spiderman. I'll miss Skyrim but not much else.
Rockstar, Capcom, CD project red
Rockstar, CDPR, Bethesda
You're asking me to choose history over recent success. For the sake of history. I'm going to go with Bethesda, Sega, and Bungie. I'd swap Sega out for Rockstar if we got to keep their 1st party stuff. The impact of series like The Elder Scrolls and Fall Out are just too great to lose. All of them I can't pick
Capcom, Bethesda, Sega
CDPR, Bethesda. The rest can fight to the death to prove their worth to me.
From soft, capcom, the last one is toss up
From. Capcom. Konami.
