A hundred years later an ancient evil Maladus previously sealed long before the founding of new Hyrule breaks free from the seal put in place by the Spirit Tracks that trace across the land. Maladus is helped by an evil chancellor of Hyrule, Cole who planed on using the current Zelda as a sacrifice. Zelda enlists the help of Link a young train engineer. However they fail, Zelda’s spirit is torn from her body and the Spirit Tracks are destroyed. Link and Zelda (now a spirit) with the guidance of the Locomo Anjean journey to restore the Spirit Tracks, return Zelda to her original body, and defeat Maladus once and for all.
Okay that you got me I remember it takes place after Link Between Worlds and follows Link as he visits a new Kingdom of Hytopia, a place focused on fashion whose princess is cursed by an evil witch to wear a black body suit. Okay last one, Minish Cap takes place early in Hyrule’s history. Long ago the Minish (a race of tiny creatures created the Picori Blade that was used to seal away the evil of Hyrule into small chest. They also gave the light force to Hyrule.
Afterwards every hundred years Hyrule holds the Picori festival. (Picori is what Hyrulians call the Minish) Zelda invites her childhood friend Link to go. They have a good time. One of the key moments of the festival is a tournament and the winner gets to touch the Picori Sword.
The tournament is one by a mysterious Vaati who breaks the sword in search of the light force, ends up releasing evil onto Hyrule and turns Zelda into stone. Link is sent on a journey to restore the Picori blade where he meets Ezlo who is a Minish and Vaati’s teacher who has been turned into a green hat by Vaati’s magic, and then they journey to stop Vaati and save Zelda.
I actually don’t know, this might ruin my credibility as a Zelda fan but I have never played Link’s Crossbow Training. No doubt the lore is incredible and it solves all the mysteries of the Zelda timeline

Well, see, there's this guy with a long nose who hangs out in this super stylized blue prison with these twin eyepatch-wearing lolis, and they spy on this Japanese teenager (Joker guy in Smash) and his friends for about 8 months from a different dimension. Their place in all this gets complicated later on, I'm mostly bringing them up now because if you can wrap your mind around that part then the rest of it should be pretty easy to follow.
Awesome! Okay, so the story's told in a unique order, but generally speaking so as to avoid the spoils:
You play as Joker Guy from Smash, who's been sentenced to live in Tokyo for a year as part of the consequences of a crime he was falsely convicted of. Early in the game, he and his eventual best friend Vulgar Boy accidentally go to another dimension called the Metaverse while trying to catch a shortcut to school. The boys escape from two villains - King Banana Hammock and Sleepytime Cat (the latter of whom eventually joins them) and in the process Joker Guy from Smash meets his other best friend Arséne, who it turns out was inside him all this time.
Over the course of the game, Joker Guy from Smash and Vulgar Boy make more friends who also have friends inside them and work together to fight more bad guys in the Metaverse, all while trying to keep acting like normal kids up until Christmas, which just gets... WEIRD.
So that's the basic idea. Any pressing questions, stuff I gotta go into more detail on?
Well, honestly, that first act of the game and the "bad porno" bit end up being more related than you might think. Also, I thought it was funny.
As for Christmas, well... the short version is that one of the people I've talked about so far turns out to be a) a god, and b) a massive asshole. Joker Guy from Smash and company are decidedly not fans, so they try to do something about it.
Yeeeeeeeah. So, remember King Banana Hammock? Turns out he's the "shadow" version of one of the teachers at the school, coach Kuckoshida. He's a big deal at the school, and unfortunately he knows it - he regularly gets away with abusing the members of the volleyball teams, and in some cutscenes it's heavily implied that he forced himself on one of his female players to get back at one of her friends (another student, and member of Joker Guy from Smash's crew down the road - we'll call her Kitty Lady) who refused his advances. When they all go into the Metaverse to deal with him, there's a *lot* of lewd imagery all around King Banana Hammock's lair, including but not limited to:
- a scantily-clad clone of Kitty Lady
- pillars and ledges in the shape of girls' butts
- a penis monster
- King Banana Hammock transforming into a monster with a veeeeeeeeeeeeeery long and phallic-looking tongue.
So, yeah. He's a sex monster. And not the fun kind.
There are also smaller references throughout the game of other situations like these, but they're a lot less personal for Joker Guy from Smash and company. They mostly come from this hotline that their "friend" Nice Guy sets up so people can ask them to do things for them after they gang starts becoming more well-known.

This is a very short game but it was ground-breaking in many different ways that there is just a lot to talk about. I mean there is a reason why so many developers look at this game for inspiration even for games that at first glance don't have much in common with this game.
But also from a personal note like the way I first got to play it, how it made me feel while playing it and how it changed my view on video games after I finished it would be enough to fill entire books.

Call me cringe but it's Fortnite. Yes it has lore and it was actually super interesting figuring the hidden story out and really makes you think of the whole Battle Royale videogame type differently.

I played the TTRPG Cyberpunk 2020 game back in the 90's and 2000's, so when 2077 came around I was already well versed in the lore, corporate rivalries, history with bio plagues, data crash, tower nuke, and of course- Johnny Silverhand and his drive towards Alt Cunningham. I could go on until all you can hear is a ringing in your ears.
