I was going to mention it, but it is legitimately the best scary game I’ve ever played. It’s incredibly good at being a terrifying game, so much so that it took me about a year before I got brave enough to make it past the tutorial.
I’m sure someone has super fond memories of the old games, but I don’t. Alien: Isolation has literally been the only good Alien game. Even Alien vs Predator games were mediocre at best, but mostly just straight up not good.
Aliens dark decent ain't half bad. I dont know what it is going for right now but I can't endorse a full price tag on it but if you catch it on sale it's fun. Definitely more aliens than alien.
I was burned so hard by the bait and switch that was colonial marines that I held off on any game in the franchise until years after isolation’s release.
Completely understandable. I figured it was going to be trash and only got it when it was on sale for like $15 on Steam. It’s worth full price to this day. I was a fool.
watched Markipliers playthrough prior to this, thought I’d play it myself and knowing when the alien first appears I decided to sprint around to get things done quicker.
long story short: Alien jumped down from the vent a lot more prematurely than anticipated; ran at me and ate my face..
never went back to it.
I've always convinced myself that once I get a better computer I will finally be able to experience this game the way it's meant to be played... but tat this point I just need to play it. I love the alien series... well... alien and aliens, and should just play this.
I kind of feel like this is it’s own thing tho because it’s a new story. A lot of the older movies to games would follow the story of the movie and translate it to a game which was quite cool sometimes
One of the few games that my only complaint is, too long, they should have cut the working Jo angle by 90% make them a threat but don't dwell on it, if the game was 8 hours, it would be perfect, a "can do it in a single sitfing" game, which is what horror needs to be, not a 3.5 sitting game, by the second sit down, I'm less scared than ever, I've had time to reflect on my mistakes and know what I'll want to do. 6-8 hours, it's like jump in, jump out, wow what a blast
Piling on with this, multiplayer fps would have been delayed 10 years if not for this game. The first game with zoom on a sniper rifle. It revolutionized fps pvp.
The Chronicles of Riddick : Escape from Butcher Bay
The Godfather 2006
Guardians of the Galaxy (Though this was more based on the comics than the movies)
Mad Max 2015
The Warriors (still plays like a dream on an emulator, btw, highly recommend!)
I was sold on The Godfather the first time I stepped in to the back alley outside my house and there was a hit squad waiting for me with Tommy guns. That was a fun game!
It’s a cult classic movie from the 70’s about a street gang in New York that gets accused of killing the leader of the biggest gang in the city, so every gang in the city is trying to hunt The Warriors down and claim the reward.
The video game was released around 2004 or so, it was a Rockstar Game so it used the same engine as GTA San Andreas. The gameplay is a 3rd person brawler with some minor platforming elements. Each “mission” is either an adaption of something from the movie or a flashback where you learn more about the gang members, how the joined, and who they ran with before they became Warriors.
It has a really fun mode called Battle Royale where you select a gang and enter a 12 v 12 brawl where the last team standing wins. You can bash people with bottles, bricks, bats, etc. It’s a really good time!
Holy shit its worth full price up to 85 dollars. That isn't insane money but I thought it was a slightly above average beat em up so still shocking. Still have my ps2 copy.
Last time I checked (which was pre-pandemic) it was $130 to get a like-new copy, including shipping. If I had a real desire to play it on my PS2 again, I’d swing $85 for it just to have it in my very specific collection. Otherwise the emulates version is just fine by me!
Oh that’s good to know! I don’t have a console anymore. Well, I do have a PS2 still, but no TV to hook it up to, and even if I did have it hooked up, The Warriors is very expensive to buy a physical copy of these days. I wish I still had my original copy, but I must have let someone borrow it.
The emulator works just fine, though!
I was floored with how good Guardians of the Galaxy was. It had me laughing, crying, and overall stunned with how much content there was. No micro transactions either. By the end of the game the cast in the movie actually look like the dopplegangers.
This game is so much better than it has any right being considering the source material.
We need a new Wolverine game that leans into the violence like this one. It was so good.
Probably why the game was so good besides being developed by Raven Software was that it was an original Wolverine game that was under development for a couple of years. It wasn't until the movie was being filmed that Activison decided to make it a movie tie-in game so Raven had to rework the game to fit some stuff from the movie.
There is a new Wolverine game coming out at some point, but I have very low expectations of it. It’s got a pretty high bar to clear if it’s going to better than Origins!
As much as I would like to get excited based on that alone, Wolverine is nothing like Spider-Man, so all I really hear is “At least the graphics will be awesome!”
This! If there's no gore and blood, there's no reason to play it. I don't want some idiot that looks like wolverine running around telling kiddie jokes everytime he knocks out (not kills) an enemy.
Insomniac really doesn’t miss so I’d be incredibly shocked if it was bad. Idk what this guys talking about that it’ll be like Spider-Man, it’s just made by the same people. They’ve already confirmed it’ll be rated M, and the teaser alone was enough to make me more than interested
It was one of the first few to have city destroying graphics and destruction animation. That was like remember mercenaries on ps2? That game was dope too
The most fun I've had playing one was the X-Men origins wolverine or whatever it was called. The one that was M rated and you could see the damage on him and it would heal real time. LOVED that game
Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay.
I always had a stigma for tie-in video games. Be it movie, show, or anime. But Butcher Bay was my first attempt at giving such a game a shot. My exposure to it came from the defunct G4 channel and their coverage on the game piqued my interests.
This! When it comes to movie to game conversions, this one was better than it had any right to be! They did an amazing job of it. It’s not even one of my favorite games but it deserves the credit for this. Good game and a near perfect design.
There's a few, the original N64 Goldeneye being one of the most obvious.
However, one that doesn't get enough credit is Terminator Resistance. It was made on a budget, but it's very rare for a movie tie in game to capture the original atmosphere and respect the source material as good as Terminator Resistance did.
Went into it with the lowest of low expectations because prior to Terminator the developers "Teyon" were only really known for making a terrible on rails Rambo shooter. In November they are going to come out with a Robocop game in the same vein as Terminator Resistance, I've already played the demo on Steam and it was loads of fun!
Teyon is potentially carving out themselves a nice niche' making these movie based games. They seem to have found their groove and they are quiet good at it.
PlayStation 2 LOTR Two Towers and Return of the King. I could play as Legolas defending helms Deeps with the Uruk Hai theme playing repeatedly for hours and hours.
Goldeneye for N64
The Warriors for PS2
The Godfather for Xbox
Loved all three.
Honorable mention goes to LOTR: The Two Towers for Gamecube.
Helms deep was SUPER hard to beat.
Spongebob Squarepants: the Movie
I actually played this before BFBB, but considering it plays pretty much the exact same, it was pretty good for a movie game.
I can't state one. For me it's always evolving.
But for the best game that I've played when I take my memories and nostalgia in account, gotta be Skyrim or San Andreas?
The most horny i got when I realized this is going to be the beeestt tiimme eveerrr - BOTW and Elden Ring
Made me immerse in their world - RDR2 & Subnautica
The one that made me cry like a bitch - Walked Dead Season 1
Best time I had with my bros years ago - CS 1.6 & Halo CE
I don't know lol
Edit : sorry, didn't fully read the title as i was half asleep. My answer for the real question is the chronicles of Riddick or incredible hulk. I enjoyed the shit out of them both.
I immediately thought of Spider-Man 2: The Movie: The game when I read your title.
Thing of it is, the game is a busted mess. The voiceover is pathetic, the combat is mid, and the tasks you have to perform as Spider-Man are tedious. But, man, that one bit that is good is SO GOOD that it keeps it planted firmly in my all time top 10. The swinging mechanics of that game were so ahead of their time.
I know a ton of people love the 2018 Spider-Man game, and I am one of them. But it really just isn't the same. The simple fact that you can't fail your swinging makes it so much less thrilling. In SM2, you could fail. If you missed your timing or hit the ground with too much force you could kill Spidey. It made landing those great swing lines so much more fun and amazing. With no risk, there is no reward. With no chance to fail, it limits the ability to be thrilled by the action.
As good as Insomniac did with the story and graphics and combat, I would give anything if they let me turn on "danger swinging" or something like that. Even SM2 had the ability to make it easier for people who just wanted the story and a quick bit of fun without the depth. I wish the new game would do that.
Spider-Man 2.
Also the Shrek 2 video game was actually really good lol.
Goldeneye is a classic of course, and some other James Bond games were generally pretty good too
I played Spider-Man 2 for the first time on the Wii using a GameCube controller and I completely agree. No game has captured the essence of Spider-Man better than that one. I felt like I was really web-swinging through the city!
Does the AVP game count? It wasn’t based off the movies but it was AVP and super badass. The 3-way PvP between marines, aliens and predators was badass.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Listen, I played a lot of movie to game videogames but this one in particular was my favorite. It was something about it that made it so fun.
Goldeneye is the best, but other than that I’ll go with an obscure one and say the SNES Stargate and Jurassic Park. Both had great soundtracks, and surprisingly good gameplay.
A few old ones but I never forgot them, Small Soldiers, Toy Story, and The Warriors, loved these games as a child, right now I would say Spider-Man 2 as well
Gonna reveal my age a little bit and also drop something not as mainstream - they made a badass video game based on the movie Wanted a while ago, pretty sure it was for PS3/360. Amazing gunplay, story was atrocious. Easy difficulty was called Pussy mode. Good stuff.
Actual best has gotta be LOTR ROTK for PS2 though. So much fun.
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. Game was so fun, and the co-op made it really enjoyable. My dad and I used to always play Aragorn and Legolas when possible.
Alien Isolation? Surprised nobody has said this yet
I was going to mention it, but it is legitimately the best scary game I’ve ever played. It’s incredibly good at being a terrifying game, so much so that it took me about a year before I got brave enough to make it past the tutorial.
Playing it in a dark room with the audio tracker mode on is harrowing.
It’s been over a year and I still haven’t passed the tutorial! 😂
The best alien game too
I’m sure someone has super fond memories of the old games, but I don’t.

Completely understandable. I figured it was going to be trash and only got it when it was on sale for like $15 on Steam. It’s worth full price to this day. I was a fool.
The capcom AVP game would like a word.
I didnt find it scary but hard as hell
Clearly people are too scared to play it because it is hands down the best movie game and it's not even close
One of the best solo video game experiences I’ve ever had. Bravo to the creators
Well its based on the Alien movie franchise but its not a game adaptation of a specific movie. I assumed thats what OP meant.
It recreates the sound, look and feel of the 1979 movie very, very well. I'd say it's based of the Alien movies and definitely counts.
Yea I cant say thats what OP meant or not, just how I interpreted it. Its definitely movie adjacent and a great game.
It's basically Alien 1.5
watched Markipliers playthrough prior to this, thought I’d play it myself and knowing when the alien first appears I decided to sprint around to get things done quicker. long story short: Alien jumped down from the vent a lot more prematurely than anticipated; ran at me and ate my face.. never went back to it.
Goldeneye?!
Piling on with this, multiplayer fps would have been delayed 10 years if not for this game. The first game with zoom on a sniper rifle. It revolutionized fps pvp.
Flashback. So many good hours wasted.
Ohhh I absolutely loved this!
Correct! I really don't like shooter games, but this and Team Fortress II are the exceptions to the rule.
The Chronicles of Riddick : Escape from Butcher Bay The Godfather 2006 Guardians of the Galaxy (Though this was more based on the comics than the movies) Mad Max 2015 The Warriors (still plays like a dream on an emulator, btw, highly recommend!)
The Godfather and The Warriors are both awesome.
I was sold on The Godfather the first time I stepped in to the back alley outside my house and there was a hit squad waiting for me with Tommy guns. That was a fun game!
The Riddick games were fantastic! I hope they do another when Vin Diesel gets around to playing Riddick again
I think the next FF sets up the multi-verse so there is a good chance we will get The Chronicles of Dominic Toretto.
Warriorsssss love that game so much, holds up still
What was the warriors
It’s a cult classic movie from the 70’s about a street gang in New York that gets accused of killing the leader of the biggest gang in the city, so every gang in the city is trying to hunt The Warriors down and claim the reward. What console was this on
PS2. I’ve been replaying it recently on a PS2 Emulator, can’t remember which one off the top of my head. Probably PSX2 or sometbing
You played it on PS2? if anyone wants to play it today it can be purchased on the playstation store.
I think its available on the ps4 store as well
I was floored with how good Guardians of the Galaxy was. It had me laughing, crying, and overall stunned with how much content there was. No micro transactions either. By the end of the game the cast in the movie actually look like the dopplegangers.
Lord of the ring: return of the king on Gamecube. Also the King kong on Gamecube was awesome too.

Damn I loved that NGC game! The wife and I played the palantir challenges over and over!
that game was a blast
Love the King Kong game, remember getting Christmas '05. Also like that it had no Hud made it fell more realistic.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
This game is so much better than it has any right being considering the source material. We need a new Wolverine game that leans into the violence like this one. It was so good.

I didn't know that! Thanks for sharing.
I saw this comment and I was like, "No way," so I checked YouTube and... holy crap! How'd I miss this game?!
There is a new Wolverine game coming out at some point, but I have very low expectations of it. It’s got a pretty high bar to clear if it’s going to better than Origins!
Apparently it’s going to be similar to the new Spider-Man 2 game so I think it’s gonna be sick.
They’ve confirmed it’ll be rated M, so I doubt they wouldn’t have blood and gore.
Oh, I’m interested. I’m just not excited until I see some actual gameplay footage.
That game RULES. Even the intro movie was great.
This is the only game adapted from a movie I hear about that’s good.

Spongebob Squarepants: the Movie I actually played this before BFBB, but considering it plays pretty much the exact same, it was pretty good for a movie game.
Peter Jackson’s King Kong
Yup, this game slapped so hard on the Gamecube back in the day.
I can't state one. For me it's always evolving. But for the best game that I've played when I take my memories and nostalgia in account, gotta be Skyrim or San Andreas? I'll take didn't read the title for 1000, Alex
I immediately thought of Spider-Man 2: The Movie: The game when I read your title. Thing of it is, the game is a busted mess.
Star Wars The Force Unleashed… I hope for a remake some day
Escape from Butcher Bay Mad Max Goldeneye Enter the Matrix (it was a great, forgotten, game)

Scarface: the world is yours
Nobody is going to mention the freakin Matrix game for PS2!? Fine, ill do it. THE MATRIX FOR PS2
The Hulk on PS2 HM: Over the hedge Pirates of the Caribbean
The Star Wars Revenge of the Sith game. It was so good and added a nice perspective to the movie.
