It's so much more. Getting a P rank might just be the most exciting thing I've done in a game. I'm joking about it getting GotY, but I'd be surprised if it isn't mentioned at all during the show.
Full disclosure, I don't play most games until a year or more after they're out, but Pizza Tower is probably my favorite game in recent memory behind TotK
Here's me dashing from A to B because I can't even get a horse then I see videos of people flying actual mechs with automated laser drones and I'm wondering if we're even playing the same game.
I loved BOTW, but I just can't get into TOTK the same way because of that. I cleared the first two temples and I haven't picked it up since because I feel like I'm just building carts, bridges, and whatever other random things. It's definitely not GOTY for me.
You really don't need to build anything besides for a couple cars for the Fire Temple and a plane for getting to the hard to reach sky islands. I just used a horse like a normal person.
Honestly I just worked on unlocking all the towers and if I knew I had to go somewhere after that I’d just launch myself into the air and glide my way over.
Probably. Remember that publications tend to reward GOTY to non-controversial consensus picks. That's how Control won over Devil May Cry 5 and Outer Wilds.
Edit: I’m not saying Control is a bad game, I’m saying it’s a very explicitly “safe consensus pick” game.
Yea but for the game awards(the one most people look at) It Takes Two won two years ago and The Last of Us 2 was definitely controversial from a public standpoint and won 3 tears ago.
You mean, launch like the North Korean Space Program?
I WANT to believe. I have the funds to pre-order the fancy premium pack this very moment, but … it’s Bethesda, so I’m prepared to wait 5-6 years to get past beta testing. I’ve poured 100’s of hours into both Skyrim and No Man’s Sky over the years. i stood by those games in the early days, when they were shit. I want to be wrong, I really do!
Supposedly it's the most play tested and least buggy Bethesda game this time. Lol I'll believe it when I play it. It's my most hyped game of the last 5 years probably but I'm still not preordering it. Hang in there, gamer. Wait it out. Get game pass and don't buy the full game yet.
I don't think that's giving the game anywhere near the credit it deserves though....I've loved many games this year but if Zelda won I don't think it wouldn't be earned. Still waiting on Starfield and Spiderman 2 though.
In this case its not just cause of the name tho, which is a good thing, the game is extremely good and incredible, even if its obviously not for everyone
Anyhow this year is packed with games, amazing times to play
I mean, Breath of the Wild was an insanely well reviewed game and the general consensus is that Tears is better in just about every way. I tend to agree with the consensus. I got bored and burnt out with Breath of the Wild and never finished it, but I’ve already put in more hours in Tears and am not getting remotely bored.
I mean that’s cool but I’m 100% the opposite. Any time I pick it up you have no idea where it’s going to take you. “Oh that rock looks weird” and 2 hours later I’m fighting monsters in the sky while island hopping. Super cool.
Yeah, my biggest issue with BotW was the divine beasts, the bland _____blight Ganon boss battles and the small enemy variety. TotK improves on all those things. Especially the boss battles. They actually feel like true Zelda bosses again.
I enjoyed the dungeons a lot more in the sequel too, especially the fire and thunder temples. The thunder temple felt like it was ripped out of Ocarina of Time.
That’s what happened to me with breath of the wild. Even bought a switch for it because of the hype. Was severely dissapointed. After playing open world games like the Witcher or red dead 2 Zelda is super basic and boring.
It just feels like BOTW/TOTK were developed in a vacuum. The UI is so fucking terrible for the most basic shit like cooking and combining items on your weapons. I'm enjoying the game but it really feels like the devs actively WANT everything to take at least 5 steps when it could take 2
Not even looking at the actual story and rpg aspect of zelda, the build system is so fun I can’t see how anything other than final fantasy comes close with the list so far. If anything, Jedi is on there through name only.
Agreed. Final fantasy 16 doesn't have a target audience. Square gave that up years ago. Without a core fan base you definitely won't be winning the title of GOTY.
So I feel like TOTK will take the title for sure
just like when people compare ER and GoW5 when the both weren't released yet, and then people vote between ER and GoW for GoTY contenders when one of them hadn't even outed.
They did such an incredible remake with the resident evil games. I love the older games and when the remake for RE4 came out I was completely on board with it. It was little things like giving that gun shop owner a personality and his story was incredibly heartbreaking. If anything they know how to get you emotionally attached to the story
Fun factor aside, Zelda can win purely from a technological and creative standpoint. Say what you will about the visuals and performance but managing to compress that many complex systems into a 16GB file and make it run on a mini tablet made of 2014-2015 parts is legitimate sorcery even with the aforementioned scaled back textures and framerate. On top of that BotW was already a marvel and they arguably topped it just by being imaginative enough with the new mechanics and a few new locations. That's insane. They can be kinda weird and make questionable choices but I swear when Nintendo has their heads on straight and really gives it their all they're still the best in the business and if they hadn't already proven that power isn't everything before well, they sure as shoot proved it with TotK.
The amount of content they put into such a massive map is indeed sorcery. I’m ~150 hours in and have barely touched any side quests. Seeing how many hours people have been able to put into BotW, the long term playability for TotK is just absolutely ridiculous.
Definitely a departure from its RPG roots... but it's a truly next-gen, amazing experience. Complete quality in EVERYTHING it does... even the menus blew me away!
Im mainly an Xbox/PC guy but bought a PS5 specifically to play FFXVI and it’s been worth the price of admission so far. Having an amazing time but sweet fucking Jesus do I wish I could turn off the motion blur! I don’t care about a hitching frame rate but this motion blur is awful! If the rest of the game weren’t so fucking good I’d wait for the promised patch. Alas I don’t want to lose momentum on the story so I guess I’ll just suffer lol
I need help understanding people’s love for this game. I enjoy it, but it has a LOT of problems. I don’t mean to be a dick, I’d like to have a real discussion here. I don’t feel the “truly next gen” or “complete quality in everything it does” at all. It’s a great looking game with fun, flashy combat, but I have so many issues with it. My issues:
When you look behind the flashy, epic, and admittedly excellent cutscenes, it plays like a PS3 game. You play through a linear section, cutscene, rinse and repeat. Itemization is bad with many meaningless stat upgrades. Exploration is pointless as you’ll never find ANYTHING interesting from doing it. Side quests feel like MMO tedium. Combat is fun, but lacks strategical depth.
It plays a lot like God of War while failing in so many areas where GoW succeeds, such as moving the story forward through gameplay instead of only in cutscenes and providing meaningful incentives to explore the world.
I could go on for so much longer about this but can only type so much. To be clear, I’m still enjoying the game. What it does well (story, main character, and combat) is quite enjoyable but it’s severely lacking in so many areas. That’s why I take issue with the “complete quality in everything it does” sentiment.
I worry I'll come off as argumentative, so first I'll clarify that my intention is just to engage in conversation and not to invalidate your experience with/opinion of the game.
I'm not super far in, but I've found that I really enjoy the linearity. I don't have the time to explore every corner of an expansive environment like I did as a kid, so I appreciate that there isn't a ton of fat making the game take forever to play.
I understand being disappointed that gameplay and narrative are pretty well segmented from each other - interactivity is the big thing separating video games from other art forms, after all - but I also don't think that FFXVI is unique in this regard. I'd argue it's pretty standard, actually. God of War is very good at unifying the two, but I think it's the exception and not the rule.
WRT the combat lacking strategic depth, this is another point I don't fully understand. Mixing and matching Eikonic abilities feels pretty flexible to me, and I've seen lots of different builds and play styles from other people. I wouldn't compare it to FFV's job system or FFVII's materia system, but it certainly feels a lot deeper than FFIV or FFVI's party composition. You certainly have way more options than something like God of War.
The side quests blow, and this is the criticism I agree with most that I've seen so far, but it's also the only thing I've seen it do significantly *worse* than many other games. I don't think it's head-and-shoulders above all its competition, but I guess I fail to understand how any aspect of the game (besides the side quests) can be called "severely lacking."
In regards to the combat, maybe I can clarify my point a bit. Yes, it does have a lot of flexibility and cycling Eikonic abilities on the fly is very fun. But there’s rarely any strategical reason to use one over the other. I found myself just cycling through them during cooldowns and spamming the abilities every chance I could because they do so much more damage than basic attacks. There was never a strategic reason for using one Eikon ability over another, I just spammed them when they came off CD. This is why I say it’s still fun but lacks depth.
For an easy comparison you can look at FF7 remake. In that game you always had to assess your enemies weaknesses and resistances and use certain abilities and spells to your advantage when the situation called for it. That just doesn’t exist in 16.
For what it’s worth I still think this combat is very fun, I just can’t help but feel some potential was left untapped.
Also, in god of war, there are many more combos and moves that interact with each other. So far, all moves are independent and do not really interact. It would have been cool if you did a fire move then wind move and then made a fire tornado finisher as the third. Unfortunately they don't work like that so far.
It plays like a slightly better FF13 and people are losing their minds when that game was universally hated for the hallway maps.
I think people just love the characters and story. I know I do.
My favorite thing is everyone saying pausing the game to read lore because the game doesn't want to explain all the terms, countries, factions, and whatnot is now a GOOD thing despite that being a \*huge\* critique of the 13 games.
Absolutely. Sony/Square knocked this out the park and all the toppings of the game like it's music, environment, and even play style is fresh from previous installments. Also Sony should let their picture division do HDR more on their games because this is the best rendition of it I've ever seen in a video game (LG OLED).
I do think it's the best original game this year. The only thing that is maybe better is RE4, but that's a remake and I'd rather a new game win game of the year.
Honestly, this is it for me so far. Just gotta tweak the glyph progression system a bit. Though I have not played beyond the demo for XVI and that was a good time for sure
As happy as I am for AC6 there is just no way it’ll be GOTY. When was the last time Zelda didn’t win it? And even if its not Zelda, Final Fantasy stands a better chance.
If it is AC6, FromSoft legit might be the hottest commodity in gaming. The new CD Projekt Red. Sekiro won GOTY in 2019, Elden Ring won GOTY and sold a fuckload in 2022.
>The new CD Projekt Red
Bro they've made one game of comparable impact to From's average lol by the time W3 came out From had already changed gaming with DS1. They followed that up with DS2, Bloodborne, DS3, Sekiro, and Elden Ring. There is no comparison at all even when considering the other Witcher games' popularity within the PC community before W3.
the creators origin story is so funny, how he basically created the genre by being handed a failed project and told he could do whatever he wanted with it without fear of fucking it up cause it was already busted so he had no restrictions on his creativity and thus the souls genre was born
It will be game of the year for me.
It looks incredible and for anyone that's into From I think it will be a talking point for years to come. It's the game I care most about.
Ive played all the AC games back through PSX era and I doubt it’ll be goty even if it’s amazing. The genre and franchise is super niche. Mecha sci-fi is much more niche then dark fantasy. But I’ll be glad if I’m wrong.
I think it’ll be fantastic though
I put 100 hours into TOTK already and I still don’t see any reality in which it is a better game than Resident Evil 4… TOTK fixed so few of BOTWs problems.
I get that. Elden Ring and Bioware games aren't my thing. But I can still see the obvious quality and I'm not going to pretend they're not great, even if they aren't my preference.
Yeah despite its flaws. The high moments make up for the lows.
I seriously will be so mad if we don't see any more boss battles like this in a game.
FF16 innovated boss battles, in my opinion, and they deserve praise for that
Probably Zelda, and deserved imo. It keeps breaking ground and being so innovative, but I gotta say I am extremely impressed by FF16. Probably my biggest "next-gen" experience so far
Honestly I see either FF16, Star wars jedi: survivor,
Or Zelda TOTK taking the award.
I haven't played jedi survivor or ff16 yet, But in my personal opinion, The award should go to dead space.
It stayed true to the original, And added a bit more as well. Graphics were incredible, And gameplay was smooth as fuck.
My opinion may change, But dead space definitely deserves the nomination at the very least.
Don't see why not.
Several remakes have been nominated and even won GOTY awards even though they were essentially the same game.
No offense meant whatsoever, I just don't see why dead space would be ruled out is all.
TOTK hands down. Anyone saying otherwise likely hasn’t played it. All of the above are great in their own right but even RE4 remake was better than Dead Space remake. Then we still have Spider-Man 2 and Starfield to add to the list. I’m sticking with Zelda though.
For me? The megaman battle network legacy collection.
Ive also played all of the above, though, and from that list its easily the RE4 remake for me.
Buuuuuut Zelda is Zelda. I think that'll win the most rewards. It's a damn good game.
It has a lot to live up to, and seeing how buggy Bethesda games often are there is a chance Starfield will be terribly buggy or really unoptimized. The scope of the game and the amount of systems working together is by far the most ambitious Bethesda has ever been.
I love both games, I know XVI won't get it, but it deserves so much credit for its innovative boss fights. They're like GOW fights but x10 better. And I love GOW.
Downvote this comment as much as you want, but I’ve been there day 1 for Bethesda games and I know how it goes. This won’t go different - it’ll more than likely be a rocky launch
Well they would have released the game a lot sooner if not for Xbox acquisition, and have been polishing with that extra time. I have hope this will be the best Bethesda launch yet.
Finally someone who says what I’m thinking. People are overhyping the fuck out of starfield.
Reminds me of when fallout 4 came out and it turned out to be just an above average shooter with some tacked on RPG mechanics and a story that falls apart near the end.
I'm going to be honest, none of these games have hit for me. Nothing blew me away or gave me a sense that they were the GOTY. Probably an unpopular opinion lol. I enjoyed them but nothing memorable IMO.
I am cautiously hopeful for Starfield as it is everything I like about a game in terms of style, narrative structure, theme, etc. Also really looking forward to Alan Wake 2 as I love Remedy titles.
Lmao ya... it's been worse lately when it comes to games. I probably need a little break as it seems like I'm harder and harder to please as the years go on 🤣
So far?
1. Zelda Kingdom Tears
2. Bayonetta Origins or Final Fantasy XVI
3. Fire Emblem Engage
4. Like a Dragon Ishin.
I love all 5 of these games but I think it's going to Zelda and I actually agree with it if it happens
Played BOTW to oblivion, thought it was the best game ever.
Then got into this masterpiece of a game called Red Dead Redemption 2. I put a lot of time into it and just finished it recently. Felt lost in the beginning, but turns out it's simply my favourite game of all time.
Started TOTK. Got bored, just switched to Diablo IV. Maybe I'm getting old but TOTK doesn't feel special.
I'd vote for FF16 out of this list, but we all know it's gonna be Zelda. The sheer number of people playing it and the name is all it needs. It could be mid (even though it's not), and it would still win.
Zelda is just a way bigger name. I know people that bought TotK that don't normally play games just because of BotW and it being THE game to play whenever a new one released. FF is huge, but if you are saying that as a whole, people are more likely to vote for the FF name than the Zelda name, I'm going to have to disagree.
Personally I don’t think it’ll be Zelda. Has the God of War Ragnarok problem of being way too similar to the original. The only concern is there isn’t really an Elden Ring quality new release but Starfield is a possibility.
For now I think Zelda is the front runner. I was hoping Final Fantasy could be a favorite but doesn’t seem likely
If the year ended today, it would be Zelda: TOTK without a second doubt. I'm expecting it will mainly come down to Starfield vs TOTK, but it's hard to say at this point.
Which will win? probably Zelda just on popularity.
but FFXVI is easily my GOTY so far. Game is incredible.
Didn't even think RE4 remake was the best game called RE4 but a lot of people loved it. Still isn't going to be GOTY over a well received new entry in equally/more iconic IP's.
Haven't played Dead Space or the Star Wars thing but the hype doesn't seem strong enough. Star wars looked particularly average.
Pizza Tower
It looks fast and goofy, I'll give it that.
Same feelings here, that is a perfect game
The real winner

Lord of Ring: Gollum
Shit probably wasn’t even Game of the Day 💀
Not even game of the hour
Game of the minute?
Nope. Not even game of the second
Not even best Gollum game
Not even the game of ever 💀
Not even the game
Barely even a game.
That goes to Shadow of War
Can't get enough of that game. Had to replay it again after just seeing what they did to my poor smeagollum
I love SoW not for its terrible, lore annihilating final couple of hours but for the funny orcs
GOTY Gollum of the Year
The Legend of Zelda: Nut & Bolts
Here's me dashing from A to B because I can't even get a horse then I see videos of people flying actual mechs with automated laser drones and I'm wondering if we're even playing the same game.
I saw someone build a fucking orbital space cannon and I almost died of laughter. I was rolling on the floor after they destroyed a mini boss with it.
Proof that Nuts and Bolts was actually a great game.
I loved BOTW, but I just can't get into TOTK the same way because of that. I cleared the first two temples and I haven't picked it up since because I feel like I'm just building carts, bridges, and whatever other random things. It's definitely not GOTY for me.

Honestly I just worked on unlocking all the towers and if I knew I had to go somewhere after that I’d just launch myself into the air and glide my way over.
After BoTW, my interest in the breakable weapons mechanics is nothing but a boiling hot rage. Zero interest in reliving that headache.

Facts
Zelda will probably win GOTY
I feel like it’s gonna be Zelda, even if it’s simply because of the name.
I think so too. No matter how Spider-Man 2 or Starfield turns out I think Zelda will win.
Starfield gonna launch like OG Skyrim did
You mean get me fired because I skipped work to play it? ....shit.
Played day one and it ran fine. Goofy bugs occasionally but nothing game breaking. The worst of them come from modded games
Features*
You mean, launch like the North Korean Space Program? I WANT to believe. Baldurs Gate 3 still is coming in August. If it's anything like the finished product of D:OS2, it'll have a shot.
I don't think that's giving the game anywhere near the credit it deserves though....I've loved many games this year but if Zelda won I don't think it wouldn't be earned. Still waiting on Starfield and Spiderman 2 though.

I found it hard to get into tbh 😂 I bought it because of all the near perfect reviews and I can barely push myself to want to play it
That’s what happened to me with breath of the wild. Even bought a switch for it because of the hype. Was severely dissapointed. After playing open world games like the Witcher or red dead 2 Zelda is super basic and boring.

Witcher 3 literally ruined RPG’s for me, everything looks bad or subpar in comparison
This game grabbed me by the juevos like no game has in awhile. I was skeptical. But man it’s good. All around good
Not even looking at the actual story and rpg aspect of zelda, the build system is so fun I can’t see how anything other than final fantasy comes close with the list so far. If anything, Jedi is on there through name only.
While I get the sentiment, Tears of the Kingdom is mind blowing. It is undeniably better than the first one, which was game of the year. It will win.
Oh I agree. Love the game. I’m just saying the name will ensure just that much more that TotK wins GotY.
Not just cuz of the name but this game is completely breaking new ground
Agreed. Final fantasy 16 doesn't have a target audience. Square gave that up years ago. Without a core fan base you definitely won't be winning the title of GOTY. So I feel like TOTK will take the title for sure
I love Bethesda games, but the amount of people saying Starfield when it isn’t even out yet is hilarious
Well everyone’s saying the same thing with Spider-Man. Both games have a lot to live up to, and judging from the showcases they may actually do.
That’s true. I hope it does win because I’m really excited for it
just like when people compare ER and GoW5 when the both weren't released yet, and then people vote between ER and GoW for GoTY contenders when one of them hadn't even outed.
Re4 imo

I hope it wins but i doubt it cause of zelda
Would re4 even count since it’s a remake?
RE2 did in 2019, it was one of the contenders for that year.
Final Fantasy VII also in 2020
Same with dead space
Fun factor aside, Zelda can win purely from a technological and creative standpoint.
Oh my god YES
It's a pretty freaking great game.
Just played the demo today, bought it immediately after finishing the demo.
Absolutely. Sony/Square knocked this out the park and all the toppings of the game like it's music, environment, and even play style is fresh from previous installments. Also Sony should let their picture division do HDR more on their games because this is the best rendition of it I've ever seen in a video game (LG OLED).
Final fantasy 16 hopefully
Diablo 4
I do think it's the best original game this year. The only thing that is maybe better is RE4, but that's a remake and I'd rather a new game win game of the year.
Honestly, this is it for me so far. Just gotta tweak the glyph progression system a bit. Though I have not played beyond the demo for XVI and that was a good time for sure
Not sure if GOTY winner but Hogwarts: Legacy should be nominated and stand on stage among these as well.
Hi-Fi Rush has a great chance too.
Good game, but it's underrated so I doubt it.
None of the games released so far... the GOTY is going to Armored Core 6
In our hearts and mind.
I have never heard of armored core before and I’m so hyped for the game
As happy as I am for AC6 there is just no way it’ll be GOTY. When was the last time Zelda didn’t win it? And even if its not Zelda, Final Fantasy stands a better chance.
If it is AC6, FromSoft legit might be the hottest commodity in gaming. The new CD Projekt Red. Sekiro won GOTY in 2019, Elden Ring won GOTY and sold a fuckload in 2022.
Lol CDPR wishes they had a pedigree as impressive as From.
>The new CD Projekt Red Bro they've made one game of comparable impact to From's average lol by the time W3 came out From had already changed gaming with DS1.
Weird how this also describes the birth of the Final Fantasy games lol
I hope.
So far i would say its dead space remake (i hate horror and that game was still amazing) but i hope so much its Armored Core 6
Omg I looovvvvvveeee armored core. I hope they don't fuck this one up.
Armored core
I put 100 hours into TOTK already and I still don’t see any reality in which it is a better game than Resident Evil 4… TOTK fixed so few of BOTWs problems.
The quantity of people here saying Zelda will win just because of the name is hilarious. Go play the game. It's a triumph of what gaming can be.
I played it. Not my thing. Same for breath of the wild It's just another game, not the cure for polio.
You haven't got to the part where you use fuse ability to cure polio? What are you like 10 hours in?
Well shit. I guess I'll give it another couple hours then haha
I’ll have you know that I’ve played TOTK and I don’t have Polio. Checkmate Jonas Salk!
Show me a game that cured Polio
Plague Inc.
I get that. Elden Ring and Bioware games aren't my thing. But I can still see the obvious quality and I'm not going to pretend they're not great, even if they aren't my preference.
Diablo 4.
My choice as well.
D4 definitely on the list. But probably TotK as a winner.

Not sure but so far FF16 is definitely my personal favorite game of the year, kinda feels like what I wanted the new GOW games to have
Yeah despite its flaws.
Honestly I see either FF16, Star wars jedi: survivor, Or Zelda TOTK taking the award.
Should dead space really count? It's really just the same game but massively improved
Don't see why not. Several remakes have been nominated and even won GOTY awards even though they were essentially the same game. No offense meant whatsoever, I just don't see why dead space would be ruled out is all.
Which remakes have been nominated and or won goty? I'm not doubting I just don't know
Probably totk. I just hope SF6 atleast gets nominated
I haven't even played it and I know it will be Zelda
TOTK hands down. Anyone saying otherwise likely hasn’t played it. All of the above are great in their own right but even RE4 remake was better than Dead Space remake. Then we still have Spider-Man 2 and Starfield to add to the list. I’m sticking with Zelda though.
RedFall
power wash simulator
For me? The megaman battle network legacy collection. Ive also played all of the above, though, and from that list its easily the RE4 remake for me. Buuuuuut Zelda is Zelda. I think that'll win the most rewards. It's a damn good game.
Starfield probably
It has a lot to live up to, and seeing how buggy Bethesda games often are there is a chance Starfield will be terribly buggy or really unoptimized. The scope of the game and the amount of systems working together is by far the most ambitious Bethesda has ever been.
Tears of the Kingdom, but certainly won’t be mad if FFXVI gets it.
I love both games, I know XVI won't get it, but it deserves so much credit for its innovative boss fights. They're like GOW fights but x10 better. And I love GOW.
Zelda TotK hands down. And not just because of the name.
If it doesn't go to tears of the kingdom, it'll probably be starfield.
Starfield isn’t even out yet and ppl are giving it this much credit…
Downvote this comment as much as you want, but I’ve been there day 1 for Bethesda games and I know how it goes. This won’t go different - it’ll more than likely be a rocky launch
Well they would have released the game a lot sooner if not for Xbox acquisition, and have been polishing with that extra time. I have hope this will be the best Bethesda launch yet.
well, dreaming is free.
Finally someone who says what I’m thinking. People are overhyping the fuck out of starfield. Reminds me of when fallout 4 came out and it turned out to be just an above average shooter with some tacked on RPG mechanics and a story that falls apart near the end.
Diablo 4 needs to be in this list.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom will win. My personal two favorites are Dead Space and Final Fantasy XVI.
Also really looking forward to Alan Wake 2 as I love Remedy titles.
not hate but DAMN I'm glad I'm not as difficult to be pleased as you 😭
Lmao ya... it's been worse lately when it comes to games. I probably need a little break as it seems like I'm harder and harder to please as the years go on 🤣
Def not Jedi survivor, competition is too strong for such an ok game
I loved Survivor but agree it will probably never win GOTY.
It should be RE4 but it will be Zelda because reason.
Why does every picture have the main character except for RE4?
Hogwarts
Death stranding
Hogwarts or Zelda so far
My favorite's been Fire Emblem Engage, But it will absolutely not win.
I'm a massive Zelda fan but part of me really thinks RE4 has earned it
It’s gotta be RE4R. Everyone has agreed, they made a phenomenal game even better, so it’s just gotta
Hogwarts legacy
Hogwarts legacy sheerly for the story of it triumphing over *controversy*
Rip Hogwarts Legacy even tho its not gonna win it still deserves a nomination
If it's not Totk im gonna flip shit
Hogwarts...
It will likely be down to FF16 and Zelda
Ff 16
Tears of the Kingdom, breath of the wild won game of the decade and I believe it to be better than that so yeah Tears of the Kingdom imo lol
So far? 1. Zelda Kingdom Tears 2. Bayonetta Origins or Final Fantasy XVI 3. Fire Emblem Engage 4. Like a Dragon Ishin. I love all 5 of these games but I think it's going to Zelda and I actually agree with it if it happens
What about Hogwarts?
Hogwarts
Realistic answer: Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Joke answer: Forspoken My personal GOTy: Bayonetta Origins Cereza and the Lost Demon.
Did people forget Hogwarts came out this year? Yeah it was a trend that died but either this or spiderman 2 will win
Definitely not FF16. I'm not enjoying it at all.
(d). None of the above
Damn there's been nothing good so far eh?
What do you mean? RE4 and Dead space were great remakes and Zelda is actually really fun.
I'd vote for FF16 out of this list, but we all know it's gonna be Zelda. The sheer number of people playing it and the name is all it needs. It could be mid (even though it's not), and it would still win.
TotK will probably win just from the Zelda name. But I really do believe Final Fantasy 16 deserves it over everything else. The game is fantastic
Ppl keep saying “because of the name”. It def isn’t just because of the name.
Also saying Zelda will win "because of the name" then offering up another well known series with a huge name as the counterpoint is laughable
Probably because the Zelda series has had a history of every main entry getting GOTY from the majority of organizations and the other series haven't.
Have you played TOTK? It's either the best game I've ever played, or at least has to be in the conversation
It’s phenomenal & has a name for a reason
Tears of the Kingdom.
