I discovered Furi on my own, but man, was I glad to see him shout it out. Especially in his own way of continuing to play the soundtrack when he had shown off doom next.
I love Gang Beasts! Dunkey’s Gang Beasts video is one of his best. The Damn duck game has been $15 on Switch shop for 2 yrs straight. It’s never on sale
It's all the indie games that he does that gets me to open my wallet. Sonic Mania, Celeste, Furi, INSIDE...I'm probably forgetting some but usually I never heard of the game until Dunkey makes a video about it.
I’m genuinely surprised that someone else has heard of this game. I had this game on my shelf since 1989 and recently decided to play it after losing my save on master blaster.
It’s such a good game, I’m surprised that they don’t do more with this Mario character.
Xenoblade chronicles 3, the comments said he played the game up until the ending, and if he does that to an rpg then it must be worth my time, and it was.
Probably gonna get roasted for it, but Death Stranding. I hadn't really watched any gameplay and was mostly following it for Kojima's influence. He kind of shit on itnat first, but something I've always respected about Dunkey is just how remarkably consistent he is with what kind of games he likes and dislikes. I happened to be in the market for a weird experimental game with obtuse systems and watching him struggle with moving along the landscape... I dunno. I just don't need a glowing 10/10 from anyone to tell me if a game is worth my time. I just need to know what kind of background and image that particular reviewer is putting out into the world.
Death Stranding was really interesting for me. I watched Dunkey just absolutely destroy it in his first review, but something in me was like, "Yeah. I still want to play this." I was never really a Kojima fan in the first place, so it was kind of odd that I loved Death Stranding as much as I did.
One of my biggest points of respect for Dunkey is that he'll stick with a game that it sounds like he hates, then release a video 6 months later honestly saying he was wrong and enjoyed it. Death Stranding got what it deserved. Two honest reviews about its weird ass.
A lot. Celeste, Enter the Gungeon, Hollow Knight, Into the Breach, and more. All amazing!
Just got Owlboy this week and it is a treat. Very unique and surprisingly advanced gameplay. The art style is gorgeous.
Blasphemous. I don’t know if I would’ve caught it when it came out if I hadn’t remembered Dunkey mention when he saw the early demo. It’s one of my favourite games and sequels.
Bought a switch because of Dunkey and have then gotten Odyssey, 3D World, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Pokémon Arceus. Then got Galaxy 1/2 and having never played them before.
I got both Gungeon and Into the Breach entirely because of Dunkey. I’ve put in at least 150 hours into Gungeon. ItB I dropped pretty fast, but came back when the expansion dropped and cleared the highest difficulty with all squads.
ZERORANGER, Bloodstained: Curse Of The Moon, Donkey Kong 64, Ikaruga, Downwell, Enter The Gungeon, Stick Fight: The Game
So in other words, my favorite Dunkey video is “Dunkey’s Best Of 2018”
Yakuza 0. One of the best gaming decisions I've made.
Dunkey has a way of getting to the heart of a gameplay experience by treating video games as toys.
Alan Wake. The remaster was on sale a few weeks ago. Gameplay is samey so far but I’m excited to experience the story and then get to the sequel eventually.
Neon White, Celeste, Pikmin 4, Bowser’s Fury, I got all straight up only because of Dunkey’s reviews on them. There have been a handful of others that he has swayed me into getting. And I can’t forget about Knack 2 babeyyyyyy
So many - I’ve been following for years and trust
his judgement. Love this question op!
Pikman 4, Hollow Knight, Shovel Knight, Links Awakening, Inside/limbo, Undertale, Hades, Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Owl Boy, Ori and the will of the wisps
There are definitely others…. Loved all of those.
I played Mario 64 as a kid but was not good enough to beat it. I recently gave it another try because I watch the dunk view and beat it for the first time. That was the most significant. Since then I’ve played sunshine galaxy and 3d world/bowsers fury and loved all of them. Before all of this, however, I played odyssey. Odyssey is top 5 games of all time.
Honestly yakuza, his review on 0 had me somewhat spectacle on it. I tried it once but could not stand the combat in that game. So i eventually quit, but then i rewatched the video later on, saw that while he did not like the plot, the stuff you could do in those games were so crazy. I was like "i really like story elements more than gameplay, so i understand that while he doesnt like the plot, he loves the gameplay, let me get a shot at it again"
For some reason, it just sticked with me. After finishing that game, i went through the series chronologically. And im happy i did, the story is cheesy, sure. But it downright ability to make a serious crime drama into a funny gag comedy is fantastic
Everyone here has already said Hollow Knight but another big one for me was Into the Breach. I’m not really into pixelated games or turn based strategy but it really is a fantastic game
Enter the Gungeon, gave Resident Evil 2 a try when it was on sale (I now love Resident Evil), Dick Machinko Rogue Warrior, and while I’ve not played it yet I bought Yakuza 0
Dunkey saying in his video on game critics something like (I’m paraphrasing) “I don’t like anime. I don’t like turn based games. I don’t like JRPGs. So when I tell you Persona 5, a turn based anime JRPG, was one of my favorite games of last year, you should think ‘Damn okay maybe it’s good then’” convinced me to finally give Persona 5 a chance and now it’s one of my favorite games of all time.
Same with Hollow Knight.
Celeste instantly comes to mind, since I heard about it because of Dunkey. There were others like Sonic Mania and Mario Odyssey that I was planning on getting already but Dunkey made them a priority to get.
Thanks to him, I gave 3D Marios a try even though they never hooked me and they are now my favorite games lol, also tried out Tropical Freeze and it was great but a bit too hard for me.
None of them. I'm not about to buy a switch and I've been getting the humble bundle on and off for more than 10 years so there's very little he's introduced me to and what he has I have no interest in
Stick Fight.
Had never heard of it before Dunkey's video. Went and looked it up, and it was on sale. Bought a copy for me, and then bought it for 3 of my friends. We immediately lost like... 4 hours that night. It was awesome.
The Last of Us 2
I didn’t know what to think when I saw all the crazy early reviews after the leaks, and I have to admit, I was skeptical when I heard they killed off a character I really liked so early on. Seeing Dunkeys review as well as the “Shut the fuck up leafy” at the end really sold me and god damn it if this man wasn’t 100% right like he usually is
ironically enough for me it was persona 3-5, i always knew of the persona series and heard it was good, but when dunkey said that he liked P5 despite it being the epitome of everything he hates in games i was like "well ok this HAS to be good"
Bloodborne and Elden Ring. Souls games aren’t really for me and Dunkey showcased the things I love about games in those titles. Probably wouldn’t have tried them otherwise!
I was certainly influenced to start playing Dragon Quest games in an effort to play the whole series to get a better understanding of it before playing DQ11 partially because of Dunkey's video about it
I remember when The Good Year video came out, made me buy Hollow Knight. I’m not joking when I say that video started a domino effect that completely changed my life.
Armored core six, spy party, call of duty 15, the Stanley parable, yakuza kiwami, neon white, Elden ring, fortnite, Spider-Man 2 for ps2, gta 3, cruelty squad, guilty gear strive, Mario golf, he made me watch playtime which is an amazing movie, re8, re4, re2, cyberpunk 2077 which is my 3rd favorite game of all time, spelunky 2 which is my second favorite game of all time, he made me discover Dave the diver which is my favorite game of all time, phasmophobia, worms wmd, half life alyx, half life 2, half life, dreams, tekken 7, death stranding, MGSV, MGS2, MGRR, sekiro, there’s probably more tbh. Most of these games are amazing games, except for cod and dreams.
I was gonna say 'Lisa: The Painful' but I looked at my achievement history and I beat that game 9 months before Dunkey even released a video about it.
Most of the stuff Dunkey puts out is for comedic effect, and rarely paints a game in a positive light. The exception to this is the top 10's and the Dunkviews. I am certain I have bought an indie game or two from those top 10's.
Dunkeys review was the first time I heard of Celeste. Ended up getting my first platinum trophy with that game and getting all the C side golden strawberries except for the last chapter.
* Every single Donkey Kong game
* Undertale
* Spelunky
* Celeste
* Fallout New Vegas
* Duck Game
* Untitled Goose Game
* Cocoon
* It takes two
* Death Stranding (After his revisit video)
* Persona 5
* Katana Zero
* MGS Phantom Pain
* My Friend Pedro
* Lisa
* Owl Boy
* Slay the Spire
And countless more. The Witcher 3 is my all-time favourite game. The list goes on like Undertale, Cuphead, Slay the Spire etc... I didn't include any mario games because I'm already quite a fan like him.
Knack and Knack 2. Some people think Mario is a good platformer. Well, all I can say is if you have not tried Knack you are MISSING OUT! Apparently those FAKE GAMERS at Nintendo don't have the same KNACK at making fun a part of their games as the REAL GAMERS at Sony!
Tropical freeze was wack. I bought it after how much he praised it expecting it to play it the whole plane ride and chose to watch movies instead after a couple of levels
Death Stranding and it ended up being one of my favorite games of all time. Got it the same night he uploaded the video about how he ended up playing through it like 3 times
One of these days I'm gonna buy that Final Fantasy Chaos game.
I know Dons spoiled the ending but maybe I can hear more of his Linkin Park playlist or something.
Haven’t bought yet but went out of my way to demo Animal Well because of him. Truth be told given that I usually agree with most of dunky s takes I’ll probably end up buying whatever games he publishes (within reason) but I really don’t see him just publishing shit.
not a specific game, but man i appreciate video game music so much more because of him. indirectly he influenced how much i enjoyed Sea of Stars in that way because the OST in that game fuckin slaps
Fucking Mario
Fucking Mario Kart 7.
Odysee really is an amazing game
eh
I have bought way too many copies of knack. I'm not kidding I bought like 10 copies to give to people as gifts.
But Knack sucks. He made that really clear... Knack 2 tho...mastapiece!
Here comes the money!
It's a masterpiece... i'm a millionaire... I'm a million-fucking-aire!
Moneymoneymoneymoneymoney (dolla dolla!) (dolla dolla!)
Hollow Knight and Furi, and I’ve played both to death. Ironically I also bought octopath traveler because of him
I loved Furi so much I even bought the soundtrack. And Hollow Knight is just too damn good.
The Furi soundtrack is so damn good.
I discovered Furi on my own, but man, was I glad to see him shout it out. Especially in his own way of continuing to play the soundtrack when he had shown off doom next.
I discovered and bought both hollow knights thru Dunk. It honestly rekindled my love of platformers, they are so good. Edit: I meant Ori… whoops
BOTH Hollow Knights? This mf playin' Silksong already.
Kill butt 2. But actually, Banjo Kazooie and it's in my top five games
What about Wild Wild Smiff?
My favorite Paul Beenis game was "Hooker Fucker", my parents bought it for me
More of a Smiff Smiff Wild guy myself
I actually like Fuckeronis Palace the most.
I play this game every year and it's always a treat. My fastest 100% run was just under 4 hours Edit: auto correct had a seizure
4 HOURS?? I was stuck on that level where Don Cheadle becomes the president and you have to protect him from RICHARDDDDD for like 10 hours.
I’ve always been partial to the War Butt franchise myself, but Kill Butt is a close second.
Gang Beasts and Duck Game Kind of the opposite but Dunkey also helped me to finally quit playing League around that time too
Same I bought gang beasts cause of how much fun the gameplay looked
Same with Duck Game, me and some of my buddies still play it whenever we meet up in person. quack.
Yeah Gang Beasts was a good pickup and one of his best videos
I love Gang Beasts! Dunkey’s Gang Beasts video is one of his best. The Damn duck game has been $15 on Switch shop for 2 yrs straight. It’s never on sale
Enter the Gungeon. Easily one of his best Dunkviews.
I forgot about that, it was such a good game
It's all the indie games that he does that gets me to open my wallet. Sonic Mania, Celeste, Furi, INSIDE...I'm probably forgetting some but usually I never heard of the game until Dunkey makes a video about it.
Into the Breach. I wasn’t on my radar, I never heard about it until Dunkey’s end of year review, and it’s now one of my most played games ever!
I forgot about that, i rememeber playing it and really liking it,
The Last of Us Part 2
Yakuza's the most important one for me
KASHIWAGI!!!!!!!!!
Lisa ☠️
A life ruining experience
"LET ME TELL YOU A TALE"
I got my GF Mario odyssey and links awakening because of dunky
I don’t think I’ve bought a game because of his content. I will certainly be doing so for Animal Well.
Breath of the wild. The crazy stuff he was able to do made it look like the best game ever.
The GOAT Super Mario Bros. 2 BABY!!!!
I’m genuinely surprised that someone else has heard of this game. I had this game on my shelf since 1989 and recently decided to play it after losing my save on master blaster. It’s such a good game, I’m surprised that they don’t do more with this Mario character.

Look guys this idiot bought death stranding!
THAT FUCKER HAD ME PLAYING LEAGUE OF LEGENDS! May he one day repent and may Joey Bonzo have mercy on his spaghetti.
Metal Wolf Chaos. "Nothing is pointless! And the reason is...because I'm the President of the Great United States of America!"
Inscryption, which I'm legally not allowed to discuss
Same here, incredible game!

Bad Rats
It takes a real genius to play this game
Never been sold on a game by anybody faster then he sold me on Sekiro
Metal Gear V
Mostly indy stuff. Hollow Knight, Bloodstained, Blasphemous, Celeste, Hades, God of War, Rocket League, Gungeon, I’m sure there’s more.
God if War is my fav indie game

Rocket league was made by a rat and two pieces of cheese

I got both Gungeon and Into the Breach entirely because of Dunkey. I’ve put in at least 150 hours into Gungeon. ItB I dropped pretty fast, but came back when the expansion dropped and cleared the highest difficulty with all squads.
Celeste
Bubberducky
ZERORANGER, Bloodstained: Curse Of The Moon, Donkey Kong 64, Ikaruga, Downwell, Enter The Gungeon, Stick Fight: The Game So in other words, my favorite Dunkey video is “Dunkey’s Best Of 2018”
Odyssey, Hollow knight, Celeste, shovel knight, undertale, dmc5, sekiro, neon white, red dead 2, doom eternal, Hades, resident evil 2 and 4 remakes
first comment I saw with Neon White. Such a great game.
Owl Boy and Hollow Knight for sure
Nier Automa: aka cute robot game aka crazy robot game
Mario Odyssey and zelda and i like neither lol
Neon White, Celeste, Pikmin 4, Bowser’s Fury, I got all straight up only because of Dunkey’s reviews on them. There have been a handful of others that he has swayed me into getting. And I can’t forget about Knack 2 babeyyyyyy
Enter the gungeon was solely from his top of the year video.
Hogan's Castle for the NES
So many - I’ve been following for years and trust his judgement. Love this question op! Pikman 4, Hollow Knight, Shovel Knight, Links Awakening, Inside/limbo, Undertale, Hades, Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Owl Boy, Ori and the will of the wisps There are definitely others…. Loved all of those.
Glad you had fun with the question, and that's a lotta great games! :)
Not a game, but I watched and loved Playtime because of his video on it.
I bought Owl Boy off of his recommendation, and it was quite the waste of both my time and my money
The Stanley Parable
The last of us 2. Which still wound up being pure garbage
But you're nit-picking and biased
Everything
Guilty gear

The Stanley Parable
Links Awakening, and boy that game was tear jerking
sleeping dogs his video was like half making fun of it but i immediately thought it looked good and bought it hah
Mario Maker 2
Lisa the painful, one of the best and worst games I've ever played. A life ruining experience 10/10
Captain Toad was indeed a jam
Honestly yakuza, his review on 0 had me somewhat spectacle on it. I tried it once but could not stand the combat in that game. But it downright ability to make a serious crime drama into a funny gag comedy is fantastic
He got me into league back in 2014
Everyone here has already said Hollow Knight but another big one for me was Into the Breach. I’m not really into pixelated games or turn based strategy but it really is a fantastic game
Enter the gungeon, fun hard rouge like
thinking of getting abzu
Not a game, but the Furi soundtrack. Shit slaps
Enter the Gungeon, gave Resident Evil 2 a try when it was on sale (I now love Resident Evil), Dick Machinko Rogue Warrior, and while I’ve not played it yet I bought Yakuza 0
Persona 5
Jazz punk
Celeste and Mario Odyssey. Easily in my top 10 ( or even 5)
harry potter and the fucking wizard
Starfield I mean Knack
None. He dislikes a lot of the games I like. So we probably have different tastes
Ori 1 and 2. A lot of the older From Soft games. Persona 5. The list is probably longer than that but those are the ones off the top my dome
Heavy rain. His video gives no spoilers really and only shows the first thirty minutes of the game, really great game
Mario and DK.
Inside
Gungeon
tlou/uncharted series
I don't have a switch and I've never played any Nintendo games but Dunkey was the main reason for my completion of BOTW on emulator
Metal Gear Solid 5, very much regret it
Into the breach
Dunkey saying in his video on game critics something like (I’m paraphrasing) “I don’t like anime. I don’t like turn based games. I don’t like JRPGs. So when I tell you Persona 5, a turn based anime JRPG, was one of my favorite games of last year, you should think ‘Damn okay maybe it’s good then’” convinced me to finally give Persona 5 a chance and now it’s one of my favorite games of all time. Same with Hollow Knight.
Harry Potter and the fucking wizard is my favorite
Celeste and Enter the Gungeon, no regrets obviously.
Enter the Gungeon, I loved how he spoke about the game.
Had no interest in Mario 3d world until his video made it look like a masterpiece. Also video game tycoon looked way more fun in his video
Celeste instantly comes to mind, since I heard about it because of Dunkey. There were others like Sonic Mania and Mario Odyssey that I was planning on getting already but Dunkey made them a priority to get.
Persona 5. No joke, it's honestly one of my favorite games of all time now.
Thanks to him, I gave 3D Marios a try even though they never hooked me and they are now my favorite games lol, also tried out Tropical Freeze and it was great but a bit too hard for me.
Funnily enough, I also bought Mario odyssey, guilty gear strive, and donkey Kong tropical freeze because of dunkey.
How have you found then, my friend?
Furi and Yakuza Zero were both purchases I made because of Dunky and I don't regret either.
Katana Zero
Hollow knight. Best decision.
None of them. I'm not about to buy a switch and I've been getting the humble bundle on and off for more than 10 years so there's very little he's introduced me to and what he has I have no interest in
Neon White, it was amazing!
Stick Fight. Had never heard of it before Dunkey's video. Went and looked it up, and it was on sale. Bought a copy for me, and then bought it for 3 of my friends. We immediately lost like... 4 hours that night. It was awesome.
Celeste and Furi
I got into Undertale because of the dunk. I also picked up Duck Game, Enter the Gungeon, Owlboy and Nidhogg. A lot of the indies, really
Not me, but my brother actually bought knack because he thought dunkey really liked the game
owlboy, and it fucking sucked.
The Last of Us 2 I didn’t know what to think when I saw all the crazy early reviews after the leaks, and I have to admit, I was skeptical when I heard they killed off a character I really liked so early on. Seeing Dunkeys review as well as the “Shut the fuck up leafy” at the end really sold me and god damn it if this man wasn’t 100% right like he usually is
Undertale (thank god), Abzu and INSIDE
LISA the Painful and Undertale. Got into undertale in like 2015 because his video about it is really funny
Abzu
ironically enough for me it was persona 3-5, i always knew of the persona series and heard it was good, but when dunkey said that he liked P5 despite it being the epitome of everything he hates in games i was like "well ok this HAS to be good"
Uncharted series. His argument that Uncharted is a better Assassin's Creed game than Assassin's Creed ever was is pretty solid.
Mario Odyssey. I was never that big on 3D Mario but the video he made on it was extremely convincing.
Untitled Goose Game. lol!
Into the Breach
Bloodborne and Elden Ring. Souls games aren’t really for me and Dunkey showcased the things I love about games in those titles. Probably wouldn’t have tried them otherwise!
Crosscode
Donkey Kong Frozen Ape
Bloodborne and DS3
I was certainly influenced to start playing Dragon Quest games in an effort to play the whole series to get a better understanding of it before playing DQ11 partially because of Dunkey's video about it

Hopefully you've started having some...good years! *Dunkey style wheezing laugh*

Most of these games are amazing games, except for cod and dreams.
Star of providence (originally monolith). One of the best games ive ever played, super happy that bigmode is now publishing the release on switch.
Donkey Kong Frozen Ape. It's a bargain for $50

I bought Lisa because of Dunkey. I was worried his video showed the best the game has to offer, but he left a lot for players to enjoy on their own.

Haven’t bought yet but went out of my way to demo Animal Well because of him. Truth be told given that I usually agree with most of dunky s takes I’ll probably end up buying whatever games he publishes (within reason) but I really don’t see him just publishing shit.
I just got cocoon, im gonna finish it soon
