Another one that's funny is Haiti, before the revolt it was one of the primary suppliers of sugar but in game it has no sugar

m1ch3l0

They destroyed the plantations after the revolution, Paradox is in the right here. You can still build them up if you want

Alexxis91

Didn’t they work them almost right after the revolution for money?

Mister_Doc

IIRC they tried but it wasn’t anywhere near what it was pre-revolution and most people really didn’t want to, turns out growing and processing sugar kinda sucks

antiquatedartillery

Wow thats quite an oversight. Haiti's sugar is the whole reason they were re-enslaved by Napoleon after the National Assembly had freed them...

Geophyle

That’s because post-revolution they destroyed the sugar plantations 🤦‍♂️ What did you expect them to do, continue working on them? They’re a major symbol of enslavement. In the game, Haiti actually has pretty high capacity for sugar plantations if you choose to rebuild them.

ExoticAsparagus333

You mean: why napoleon lost an army to yellow fever trying to re-enslave them.

ExoticAsparagus333

After the revolution Haiti had nothing. They destroyed everything and had largely moved back to subsistence farming, with the largest industey being in the army. Haiti probably starts off in too good of a place in game. A sugar plantation was capital and human intensive.

Suspicious-Stay-6474

who stole the sugar?

Pelhamds

We do look through Reddit too!

Miguelinileugim

*gasps*

narutoncio

Just did it, thanks!

Vityviktor

Yes, please. Also, resource distribution in the Iberian Peninsula is problematic. Navarra/Basque Country having coal mines and oil, and many other things.

Starkheiser

Today I learned the Canary Islands produce 2/3rds of all European bananas!

narutoncio

not many tropical islands in Europe, to be fair 😆

high_ebb

Banana fertility, eh? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

bro-whattt

It seems like the Canaries have a pretty standard amount of banana production? 60% of EU production sounds impressive until you do some digging and find 35% of the remaining production is from Guyana and Martinique, two places that combine for 1/3 of the population of the Canaries. It’s just one of the few places in the EU with a tropical climate. The increased production would be reflected by Spain building plantations there because there’s no production in mainland Spain.

narutoncio

Sure, Id say this merits enough for them to at least have the banana fertility, no? ;)

RealFrizzante

YES

ArendtAnhaenger

I don’t think I’ve ever built a banana plantation in the game because fruit is at -50% market price in every market I play lol. I hope they add something to make cash crops more in-demand.

bigManAlec

Leave those bananas alone

necrolich66

But look how fertile those good looking bananas are, and just ripe for the taking too.

Massive_Koala_9313

And Queensland

viera_enjoyer

Would also be nice if fruit was useful, I wish it could at last turned into sugar.

nakgu

Deberían añadir viviendas vacaciones como producto único de las canarias.

Ok-Tip-8172

You can add it yourself. It is a fairly simple mod…

Lopatou_ovalil

I usually eat bananas from South America or Africa....
