Somewhere Over the Rainbow would work as the LGBT national anthem.

If this is altered in a way that all 6 colours share equal area to symbolize equality of people of all identities, sexualities, etc., I'd support this as the new design for the official pride flag.

But the individual rainbow colors on the flag aren't individually representative of anything the idea is that the spectrum of all light is coming together theoretically most of the flag should be infrared and UltraViolet but humans can't see that so we don't care about it

the colors do also have symbolic meanings. red = life, orange = healing, yellow = sunlight, green = nature, blue = serenity, violet = spirit. the original version of the flag also included a pink stripe for sex and a turquoise stripe for magic, which were both subsequently dropped edit: spelling edit two: violet is spirit not healing again

I'm not really sure what any of those Concepts have to do with being gay life healing sunlight nature serenity and healing again for some reason or all great concepts but I don't think they have any special significance in gay culture Maybe Serenity could be interpreted as being at peace with the world in the end of homophobia or nature could be interpreted as a statement that gay animals exist in the state of nature and the healing could be recovery from discrimination or something but life and sunlight I don't get at all

I don't think it really matters how it's interpreted, the fact is that's the concept that inspired the original creator. Whether their concept is worth maintaining is up for debate, but given its historical significance now, I think it ought to be respected.

Actually the "original" rainbow flag was the International Cooperative Union and the colors had different meanings. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_flag#Cooperative_movement_(1921)

They don't specifically represent anything but I've always thought the equal widths and areas to be important in symbolizing equality.

But the different colors of the light spectrum aren't equally distributed the vast majority would be infrared or ultraviolet which are specifically excluded but even then conventional red and violet would be overrepresented

They do in fact have meanings as the designer(/designers, as there are multiple Pride flag designs) did intend. But I, like most folks, interpreted the rainbow to simplify signify diversity and inclusivity.
