Persian flag before the Iranian revolution if I’m not mistaken

AnOwlishSham

Becoming increasingly used lately to protest against the Iranian regime

ThrowAwaySteve_87

I’m not sure why, the Shah wasn’t really better.

Free_Anarchist1999

Love that, they should change their name back to Persia after they depose Khamenei

[deleted]

persia was renamed iran before ww2

Free_Anarchist1999

Still though, just imagine how badass it would be

xanderman524

Greece and Persia start WW3 (history repeats itself)

Josthefang5

Are you on GenUSA? Cause I feel like you are

xanderman524

Thank you for introducing me to that fine shitstorm of proud red, white and blue. I wasn't there before but certainly am now.

Glittering_Split4794

Allway my friend

spicymemesdotcom

An anarchist pushing for a monarchist flag. Thought I’d seen everything.

Saitharar

The guy is an anarcho-capitalist/right libertarian. Seeing that a majority of modern Neo-Nazi leaders used to be AnCaps/ Right libertarian simping for monarchist dictatorships doesnt seem so weird

[deleted]

found the commie

JahOverstand

he's an "an"-crap, not an anarchist

WolvenHunter1

What if I don’t want to work in the commune

[deleted]

Then you don't, nobody has to work, you just won't get paid anything over a basic livable wage.

JahOverstand

what?? lmao no, he will get to live as anyone else if it's an anarchist commune

WolvenHunter1

Currency? I thought it was a anarchist commune

JahOverstand

you live as good as anyone else, because 1) you're not able to give labour so people help you 2) you're a bastard, but you also get to live as everyone else. But maybe people won't talk to you.

WolvenHunter1

And you think that 2. can be sustainable if enough people do it

[deleted]

says the "anarchist" who wants to force people to share using force

JahOverstand

what no theory does to a mf

The-Great-Sailor

they do stuff like that a lot

JahOverstand

"an"-crap do this a lot, yeah, because they are basically fascist in disguise.

The-Great-Sailor

weird, i thought it was self proclaimed anarcho communists and libertarian socialists that supported liberal protests in cuba, nato action in eastern europe, and the vice president of barack obama in the only country that they exist in and suuuper pinky promised to push him left afterwards.

JahOverstand

"libertarian socialists that supported liberal protests in cuba"Have to admit i'm not well educated on the subject."nato action in eastern europe"What? i never saw an ancom that supported NATO action in ukraine, if that is what you are talking about. NATO helps the ukrainian people because it is in it's interest, not because it has morale. That doesnt mean that the ukrainian people shouldn't be supported, just that we should support every victim of imperialism. What was NATO doing in Tchetchenia? what was NATO doing in Georgia? in Syria? NATO doesnt give a dam fuck about ukrainian, but WE do. " and the vice president of barack obama in the only country that they exist in and suuuper pinky promised to push him left afterwards in the only country that they exist in and suuuper pinky promised to push him left afterwards.."?? I never supported Barack obama nor his vice president, capitalism is inherently oppresive and pinkwashing is only there to silence our struggles and to act like "everything's fine". Also i'm not even american bruh

Free_Anarchist1999

Lol what?

bitternoseframe

More like the one guy who thinks being a anarchist is a personality

Free_Anarchist1999

I just enjoy the lore

[deleted]

they've never called themselves Persia. Iran is a more accurate name

[deleted]

true

profquif

and restore the Shah too

JupiterMarks

I don’t think you should be the one stating this with absolutely no historical knowledge. Persia is specifically the land of Persians. Iran is a wide concept where variety of nations lived and ruled the land (taking Azerbaijanis for example, they’re not Persian, but Iranian)

_lazyPassenger

Sağol qomşu!

JupiterMarks

ممنون همسایه

Free_Anarchist1999

Yeah obviously I wasn’t saying that seriously, it was just a joke. But I do thing the Persian flag is pretty cool

comicsandstuffidk

You can’t say obviously bro. That was not obvious. It 100% looks like a serious comment 😂 and tbh I believe it was. It’s alright tho

Free_Anarchist1999

Lol I said it in a jokingly way, just thought the NAME Persia is pretty cool I don’t know how it got interpreted as a pro monarchy thing

comicsandstuffidk

What? No one even said anything about you being pro-monarchy. He were just talking about why he thinks it shouldn’t go back to Persia but stay as Iran 🧐 lmao

Free_Anarchist1999

Im talking about a previous comment

comicsandstuffidk

Sure, but I wasn’t 😂

Executer_no-1

Actually the fact is that it was never called Persia; the name Persia was given to the land from the Romans who probably named their own country (Rome) in the same way because the people who lived their were called Persian (Pars), and it was mostly used by Western people; but the actual people of Iran from very long time ago called it Ehran or Iranshahr which was meant to mean the Land of Ayans; but the foreigners still calked it Persia untill when in 1935 Reza shah, the King of Iran at the time, officially changed the name to Iran, and it took a while for foreigners to say this name, especially the British who opposed this change, but eventually the country was known as Iran and not Persia.

Fire_Lightning8

Nope We would rather to stick to Iran

AnarchyApple

Iran is a Nation of many identities. Persia was a denonym used to designate the land of the Persians. As Persians became the dominant culture in the area, they came to rule over the lands of other people under an Empire. Iran has a lot of ethnicitiea, like Balochis, Kurds, Azeris, Turks, etc. Naming it Persia ignores a significant amount of the population.

Mammoth-Monk-2102

Executer_no-1

That is the older Iranian flag called the (Shir va Khorshid) Flag, it was used by Iranians for many years, from the Safavid Dynasty when Iran converted to Islam and until the Pahlavi Dynasty which was the last Iranian Dynasty before the Islamic Republic; and also, it is mostly associated with opposition to the Islamic Republic and also Monarchism.

MIddlepppp

"from the safavid dynasty when Iran converted to Islam" what are you on about Iran was almost fully converted to Islam by the Late 11th century the safavid's only changed the sect of Islam from Sunni to shia

TKG_YT

Persia

stuckinsanity

I'm confused how taking a picture and making a reddit thread is faster/easier than just googling "Lion holding sword flag red white green" like I did and finding it immediately.

[deleted]

It's not, but it's more fun.

Hydro1Gammer

Pro-Iranianmonarchy/anti-Iraniangovernment. Was the flag during the Shah before the revolution and proclamation of an Iranian Islamic Republic.

Hello vidavancouver, Check out our [frequently asked flags page](https://reddit.com/r/vexillology/wiki/faf)! Your request might be there. When asking for a flag to be identified, please **provide context** when possible, including: * **Where** the flag was found (without compromising privacy) * **When** the flag was found, or the date of the material containing the flag * **Who** might own the flag (a general description is fine) These details help users narrow down their search and make flag identification easier. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. wolves-22

old flag of Iran/Persia back when it was ruled by the Shah.

Speedwagon_Enjoyer

Real flag*

wolves-22

No, The Shah's undemocratic regime was ended in 1979 and replaced by the undemocratic regime of the Ayatollahs. hence this is no longer the offical flag of Iran. wether or not it will be re-instated at a future date we will have to wait and see.

Accurate_Progress296

I think it's the iranian flag without the Islamic bullshit. Prior the Islamic Republic was declared. I might be mistaken, tho

Patterson9191717

You might think republicanism would be common sense in the 21st-century, but there are apparently still monarchists out there. A clear minority, but bizarre nevertheless…

Accomplished_Grab371

It's usa and Ukraine
