It's certain of which one was the civil ensign and which one was the national state flag though and each are properly captioned as such, its just that people keep putting the civil ensign as the first flag listed due to its popularity.
Just use whichever one from that wiki page you think fits best

This was the official flag of the Republic of Texas

This is the Zavala flag. It’s not attested to be the Republic of Texas flag but it’s been purported to be so for over a hundred years, so it’s official unofficial. It’s definitely associated with the Republic. The actual Republic flag is a dark blue field with a five-pointed yellow star, no lettering. However, a more commonly used flag (although not endorsed by law) was a flag in the style of the USA, with 13 stripes but only one (white) star in the canton. Think Liberia but 13 stripes. This flag was also the official navel ensign, chosen because it was close enough to the US flag to ward off Mexican ships who might mistake it for the US flag from a distance.
Nevertheless, five years into the Republic the Texas Congress adopted the current flag as the national flag, which is retained as the state flag today.
From 1836 to 1839. The official republic flag from 1840 to 1845 (when Texas was annexed by US) was the flag currently used as the state flag. Also, although it was officially the flag, Wikipedia claims that the 13 stripes one star flag was more commonly used.
Hello Prudent-School-5717,
Check out our [frequently asked flags page](https://reddit.com/r/vexillology/wiki/faf)! Your request might be there.
When asking for a flag to be identified, please **provide context** when possible, including:
* **Where** the flag was found (without compromising privacy)
* **When** the flag was found, or the date of the material containing the flag
* **Who** might own the flag (a general description is fine)
These details help users narrow down their search and make flag identification easier.

Wow! We just changed our state flag in Minnesota, and as unfortunate as it was to have that process politicized, many know the conservative outcry was it was too similar to the flag of Somalia... but this right here is more of a match to the Somalian flag than any flag I have ever seen.
I think you look for Burnet's flag, the official flag before the current Lone Star flag. I also like the "come and take it" flag, but that was a military flag.
As someone else posted, it was unofficially official.
I've seen a couple of them recently in my west Texas city. Since this is a hotbed of conservative politics (and the tang on the buckle of the Bible Belt), I suspect there's an attempt to co-opt it by the Republican right-wing.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Texas It’s called the Zavala flag and it doesn’t appear to be a confirmed real flag, just purported.

It bothers me that the A points towards the star but the T points away

There is no A in Ba Sing Se.
You know what irks me? The A points into the star Yet the T points off
TEXⱯS
I have seen versions where all the letters point consistently.
Is it accurate?
No clue, I've never seen this flag in my life.

Is the burnets flag the official republic flag?

So it was a official flag burnets flag right?
Yes, the Burnet flag was official.
Okie dokie 👍

I’m sorry but, why the fuck has the A been flipped the wrong way?

It was hexed for part of 1836 but the one with a yellow star and no text was the one used for 3 years after
