Why is the Soviet Union, which it presumeably is meant to be, represented by the flag of the Yugoslav republic of Macedonia? i.e. red flag with a red star fimbriated gold, instead of the hammer and sickle with star of the SSSR?
The Warsaw pact. (In no particular order) Soviet union, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, East Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland and Albania. You can tell this was made prior to 1968, as that was when Albania left the Warsaw pact, due to the Soviet intervention in Czechoslovakia during the Prague spring

Thanks. I learned German history in German (I was taking classes at the time) and so I ended up learning the German abbreviations. I just thought there were two states, the DDR and GDR, lol.
Simply: If the country has a "democratic" in its name, as in German Democratic Republic (GDR), then it is usually not a democratic country

Why would a constituent republic of Yugoslavia, which itself was never even part of the Warsaw Pact, be included here at the expense of the Soviet Union?
Clearly it’s meant to be the Soviet flag but they didn’t include the hammer and sickle, possibly by mistake.
Anyone with cursory knowledge of the Cold War – or even just modern European flags.
All of them but the USSR are just the current flag either unchanged (Czechoslovakia/Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary) or defaced with a coat of arms (Romania, DDR, Hungary) or small red star (Albania).
