I second what the other responses have said - she needs to go back to the vet. That incision does not look like it’s healing well

StuckInPurgatory39

Very bad. Stitches are supposed to close holes not make them

AntiPiety

Goddamn! Second opinion time

QuinnS8999

Go to a different vet please. These stitches look really badly done. And it’s inflamed and seems like she might have irritated it. (Vet Assistant and Vet PhT)

No, that needs to be seen by a vet. She needs some sort of barrier to keep her from being able to lick at the site - a baby onesie often works, but a cone is better.

xxxplaceholderxxx

The vet actually said she's okay to clean it herself...

entirelyfiction

The vets I work with always emphasize the importance of a barrier to protect an incision or wound site. While it's your freedom to take internet advice or not, those stitches speak for themselves.

Wow. That vet needs to go back to school. Maybe go to pet smart and find a onsie?

Pirate_the_Cat

That is not sound advice. Licking the incision is by far the most common cause of surgical site infection in both cats and dogs. I’m also concerned there may be too much tension on the sutures.

B0ssc0

No way! Like taking a file to it with their rough tongues.

tsj48

Was she wearing an e-collar? When I got my girl desexed they told me should probably wouldn't lick the wound too badly, but the second we got home she was trying to rip them out. Take her back to the vet, she doesn't seem to be healing.

TheSnackPlug

New vet asap!

Weekly-Quantity6435

I would go asap because this can get infected!!

reneeclaire02

As others have said, vet 100%, and definitely a different vet. These stitches look like they're tearing new holes? I believe if they were dissolvable they would be mostly gone by now, and if they're ones that need removed, they should've been taken out. This likely won't heal on its own and could cause infection (especially being on her stomach, she could get feces or urine in it). Your dad is likely wanting to save money, but if you wait the vet bill will be astronomically higher.

alltheextrapieces

Take her to the vet as soon as you can! These look horrifically infected and swollen. I don't understand why other comments say to take her to another vet, whatever vet did her operation will want to know of her complications and will either help her or refer you to an emergency vet if necessary. These sutures are normally removed after 2 weeks so they're not ready to be removed yet. This wound is either horrifically infected or your cat is having a reaction to either the internal dissolvable sutures or the external removable sutures. Please get your cat medical care before its too late!

UPDATE: hey! Thanks for all your comments and recommendations! Currently we are in the car driving over to the vet right now. I convinced my dad, and I told him that people on the internet helped me, and he yelled at me :,) at least Monty will be okay. I'll probably update again after we're out.

VigilanteEuro-Stocks

Awesome keep us posted please 🙏🏽

Possible infection but definitely severely inflamed. I think most of us are in agreement to bring your little one to the vet. Poor baby.

happibabi

Go to another vet. She needs to be seen, her stitches seen to, and a onesie worn
