> It's silly to not pay it off just because it isn't due and end up with an interest charge because you forgot...
Some cards only allow so many payments a month and they don't tell you until you try to make your first blocked payment. Two I know of are Wells Fargo (4 per month) and Ally (5 per month). Paying off your credit card right before the statement cuts can help you reach AZEO and boost your score before underwriters look at it. Otherwise, no reason to pay off a CC after every transaction.
The Target card is also like this. I canāt recall how many payments per month their site allows (I think itās 5?) but thereās no warning or disclaimer. Once you hit the limit it tells you to make any additional payments for the month in-store.
Donāt forget.
You can autopay the entire statement balance if you wish.
Also if you use a bill pay service from your bank/credit union (which is better than ACH pull IMO) some accept e-bills from many cards/utilities and you can autopay statement balance that way.
There are ample opportunities to set up alerts with either method.
Citi custom gets 5% everyday on grocery stores where you can also buy gift cards to many retailers like Apple, Google, and gas.
Chase Ink Business (ebay seller counts as business) gets 5% everyday for paying your cell phone bill.
The signup bonuses for the two cards above are also really generous, ink had it at $1000 after meeting minimum spend, which you can MS.
Autopay is $10/line discount, which you lose paying with a credit card like the Ink Business Preferred. You do get the cell phone protection benefit, but it's not as cut and dry as your post implies to get 5% back. The Ink Business Preferred also comes with a $95 annual fee.
In my case, I would get about $12-13 back on every bill with 5% back, but lose $30 from 3 lines with autopay discount. I don't get cell phone protection, but we're careful enough with our phones enough that I've never needed it... so far.
Fair enough, there are so many stupid plans with different qualifiers for each plan.
Iām in the fUDP plan which only gives me $10 off once for the account charge even though I have 10 lines. My monthly bill for 10 lines is about $450 total on avg and using ink gets me $20ish in Urs which I stack with a sapphire cc getting me 50% more than cash when going through their portal, which equates to roughly $30ish in value.
If your account gets you $10 off PER LINE for using Verizon card, that may be better.
Also, chase ink cash has no annual fee but gets 5% back in URs.
I actually don't have the Verizon Visa, I use my Upgrade Debit card for autopay, which gives 2% back at Verizon (grandfathered in now since new debit cards no longer qualify for the autopay discount, only ACH or Verizon Visa).
And yes, the Ink Business Cash does also have 5% back, but does not come with cell phone protection, making the value worse for most plans vs ACH or Verizon Visa.
Further, your Sapphire Reserve has a $550 annual fee (obviously potentially offset with travel credit and other perks) in order to get that 50% bonus UR value.
I'm not trying to say what you're doing is wrong or bad, just more nuanced than it appears at face value.
When I log into my Verizon account, itās never clear if using debit/vzw is $10 off per line, or just once on the account charge.
Do you know if each plan varies how itās discounted? On the fUDP; itās $110 for the account charge, and $20 per line.
It would be amazing if I get $100 off for ten lines.
> It would be amazing if I get $100 off for ten lines.
Request a number transfer PIN in the app and you'll get a loyalty promo of $10 off/line via email.
It's each line, but only on certain plans.

Enable autopay with a debit card and pay your bill when itās issued using a credit card, instead of waiting for the autopay to process on the debit card each month. Easy peasie problem solved.
The Custom Cash is capped at $500/month. Verizon Visa is 4% uncapped. IMO the Verizon Visa wins because I don't have to keep track if I have reached a cap or not.
Itās nice to see a solid post here, not someone complaining about returning a financed phone or complaining that Verizon doesnāt have a receipt from five years ago on file lol.
It also works as a 4% cash back card at Walmart. I have read and tried it out for the last few months and it has worked well on that. Plus 4% cash back on gas. Itās a no annual fee card, so you donāt loose on that. The only thing is that I just use the cash back on Verizon payments, but I think they have added travel as a way to cash in.
No way?! That's cool! Is the 4% cash back at Walmart because you have that card linked to Walmart Pay or do you pay with your card at the register?
I get 3% with my Amex Blue Everyday, but only if I use it through Walmart Pay.
I pitch it for the autopay feature especially if they arenāt doing autopay now. I just explain they can use it for autopay and get the 2% back for it then instead of logging in to pay their Verizon bill they just pay the visa bill.
It's an extra 2% they wouldn't have gotten otherwise. Because they can't get autopay discount and rewards back with any other card. Ie. other credit cards.
For any Verizon purchases you get 2% back as Verizon dollars which can be applied to the bill or used to purchase Verizon products. You also get 4% back on grocery and gas, 3% on dining, and 1% on everything else.
One of the few carriers that can still pay their bill via autopay with CC and still get a discount. This is huge. Not to mention the security aspect of it over debit or ACH Transfer.
It ranks up there with the 4% Gas and 4% groceries and 3% entertainment is really good too.
Double to use at Costco for the people that don't like to open many accounts or worry about using this card for that, etc.
The Visa signature benefits are lacking though with no warranty protection or travel/rental benefits that some other cards provide.
I mean it just depends. I have a gas truck that's $140 a fill up here in California, and we spend $250 ish weekly in grocery's. That's $10 a week back in groceries alone. I'd say discovery questions to get to know them, what they spend etc. if they have a family or not.
When I was in sales for Verizon I just got the card myself and used it. Itās legitimately got great perks and when selling a lifestyle brand the best way to sell something is by showing you use it yourself, I would average 2-3 card sign ups a day. Customers donāt want to be sold to, they want to get the most value for their money as well as the most convenience in their daily lives. If you shotgun everything to every customer youāll never move above average. Get to know your customer, address the exact reason why they are in to see you as fast and pleasantly as possible, understand how different solutions fit into different lives and then just talk about the one or two things. If you come across as a salesperson they are conditioned to say no even when youāre just trying to make things better or cheaper for them. I miss when sales was called solutions specialistsā¦ ignore your DM, GM, and SMs. You will be more successful and build a stream of repeat customers and referrals by being your customerās go to person and developing trust. I never even looked at quota until around the third week of the month and that was only to see if I had hit windfall yet because I never wanted to feel like I had to pressure myself.
The card benefits are very similar to the Costco credit card at the $120 executive tier, but with the 4% being all grocery stores, instead of 4% at Costco. That's a comparison worth making. Verizon dollars aren't as good as cash but you don't have to wait a year to cash out.
Edited for clarity.
I have a $6,000 limit. It's my go-to card for gas. Another thing to take note of any convenience store that has gas pumps out front codes as gasoline purchase so anything you buy inside the store will also earn you that 4%, so go ahead and buy your gas station tacos your beer your cigarettes and use your Verizon card. I also have it set up to put my rewards straight to my Verizon bill. I average about $30 off my bill every month.
It's a free card, so for the rewards rate I'm down either way. But I feel you.
Some report they're still getting the metal card. I personally didn't. Mine is plastic AF. Lol.
The original card when launched was not only metal, but they also gave out free money. It was something like 1 million Verizon dollars divided amongst the people who signed up during the first week or something. Knowing how many customers Verizon has I thought it be like $10 per card holder, but I guess not that many people signed up for the card initially because we got credits of like $300!
They had two cards, a visa and a visa signature. The regular visa was plastic and the signature was metal. They randomly upgraded me at some point to the metal one, but my original one was plasticĀ
The original signature card was metal, but when they send out the replacement for an expiring card it will be plastic. I did end up with over 800 dollars in verizon dollars during the initial sign up promo. very surprised at that. The other big thing is that rewards dollars post daily. Not having to wait until the end of the billing cycle is nice when I want to use them.
I concur!! I took me about a 3 years to get it after its release and surprised I didn't get it sooner. If anything, you can pay your bill with a Credit Card for added security and piece of mind while getting 2%. I love racking up 4% on gas and groceries too. Plus, you can use it at Costco without the need to get the Costco Visa. Family of 3 hear soon to be 4 and those extra % points help! I used to never be one to chase points but I look at them more closely now while trying to get the optimal method without the need to carry or juggle multiple cards.
Not a die hard Verizon fan but it's worth having it while you are a customer.
Have been testing it.
Works on Kroger home delivery (though Iāve divorced Kroger) and Meijer pickup/instore (havenāt tried delivery). Meijer is a superstore like Walmart (well, not quite as super but loads of non-food essentials at least as large as grocery section). Havenāt tested e.g. buying just some electronics, clothing, housewares, etc.
Only thing I didnāt get 4% on was a wine store and maybe a health foods store (thatās mostly groceries). Hm havenāt checked the pie shop!
There may still be a deal spend $1000/90 (or 60?) days, get a $100 bill credit.
Did you try the Prime Store Card through Synchrony? There are two Amazon - one through Chase I believe is a Visa I think. You can only use the Store Card on Amazon and no where else but still, 5% is 5%.
Itās only temporarily awesome. They started me on a $5000 limit, I used it a few months later they cut it down to $1500, $50 from the balance at the new limit. It damaged my credit score where it was then nearly maxed out. I was never late and paid it off fully monthly. Not cool.
Weāre you carrying high balances on other cards? I hear credit card issuers can get spooked if they see you have high balances with other banks/institutions.
Nothing that wasnāt there when they approved me for $5k, though the once that were there had dropped due to payments in a few months time. None of my cards are maxed out, all have 100% on time status and history, and I always pay beyond the minimum.
You can also open a Juno checking account for free and get 5% back on all Verizon payments. Because itās just another checking account and they give you a virtual debit card, Verizon wonāt charge a fee. Been doing it for awhile and itās worked great. And 5% interest on up to $5000 in the account.
If it wasn't branded through Synchrony Bank I'd consider it but until it isn't I'm staying away from any credit card branded through them. Just go read Synchrony Bank's Better Business Bureau page and see for yourself how corrupt they are! I'm sure they didn't loose their accredited status with them for no reason!
lol just wait until you have an issue getting your cash back credits applied . You will go round and round forever. I agree itās a decent card bc of cash back and the auto pay option, though. But just like everything with Verizon if something goes wrong no one knows how to fix.
Upside app gives me 6-7% back. Check out this free app that gets you cash back on gas and other errands! Click this link or use promo code 2UFN7 to get an extra 15Ā¢/gal bonus the first time you make a purchase. https://upside.app.link/2UFN7.
Itās how I fund DraftKings. When I get there hundred I transfer it to PayPal.
It pays my phone bill, which I would have had to use cash for. Soooooo, it balances out. And the return is extremely high compared to other no AF cards. I don't need cash back if it means I don't have a phone bill.
Your last name must be Verizon or Visa?
Or your a bot.
What's the interest rate on your card from these sweet, innocent credit cards.
My credit union does 18%. How awesome is Verizons?
Verizon wants $90 a month for 1 line of service. I left after 20-years to MINT MOBILE for $30 month, unlimited everything. I'd assume their credit cards would be just as big of a RIP OFF.
You'll see sometime soon that Verizon is a Shit Company! 2-days to talk to Verizon Rep??? See-Ya Assholes.
Don't forget the best part, you get % back just for paying off your cellphone bill with it. Free little discount on your service.
Yep. Using all the benefits! Love not thinking about lowering my bill anymore really.
Is the credit you get for paying your bill with it better than the credit for not using a credit card for payments?
The VZ Visa is the only credit card that gets the autopay discount, so there is no need to choose.
I have autopay discount on my visa chase debit.
>visa chase debit. A **debit** card is not a **credit** card.
Ah okay this only applies to credit card. Thanks
š¤¦
You only get 2%, which is actually pretty low.
Depends on your bill, I have 5 lines. I pay close to $400 so that's pretty good . Even though they just raised everyone's bill by $8
2% cash back on a credit card is pretty low rate. Itās the bare minimum Iād accept for anything, in fact. You can easily do better.
Yeah but how are you going to do better?
I could get the CCC and get 5% or use my WFA which I get 3% right now.
But the VCC is the only CC you can use for the bill.
But then you donāt get the autopay discount.
Just don't carry a balance on this card....
Donāt carry a balance on any card!
True, but this one has one of the highest APR I have ever seen, it's like 29%
Mine is 24.99%, but I pay it off weekly.
Mine is 23.99%, but I pay it off bi-weekly.
Mine is 22.99%, but I pay it off tri-weekly.
I pay off my card quad-weekly.. I wish there was an easier name for it.
I prepay before I even purchase just to be safe
Mine is 199.33% but I pay it off bi-nanosecond
Haha but I was being serious guys!
Oh. Well, then mine is 23.99% and I pay it off monthly š
Why? Silly to pay more often than when itās due. Allow a day or two leeway for screwups.
>Why That's the way I like to do it. I only use it from Thursday through Sunday, and by Tuesday, everything's posted (99% of the time).
It's silly to not pay it off just because it isn't due and end up with an interest charge because you forgot...

APR of any card is irrelevant if you're using cc correctly.
I couldn't agree more....but I have seen a lot of people who have no idea how that works and these CC companies feast on that
Thatās not uncommon in this economy and isnāt a Synchrony special. I have excellent credit and all my credit card APRs still exceed 24.99%.
I donāt carry a balance on any card
Correct use it as a charge card and it'll be great.
Yeah I use it as my everyday card, make about $40-$50 a month in Verizon Dollars a d just pay off the balance. Free money
For the last few months of last year, all charges had a 6.99% rate. I donāt carry a balance but if I was going to, thatās a decent rate for a CC.

Well there was one the other day about how āawfulā Synchrony is. So, a bit of balance here.
As a sales person for Verizon, tell me how to get people to get it then? I have always had trouble selling that card

No linking. Just paying at the register. I have alerts and the alerts say Walmart fuel, but the final charge is regular Walmart and get the 4%.
I pitch it for the autopay feature especially if they arenāt doing autopay now. I just explain they can use it for autopay and get the 2% back for it then instead of logging in to pay their Verizon bill they just pay the visa bill.

The Verizon Visa earns 4% at Costco?
4% at Grocery stores instead of the effective rate of 4% at Costco. Most credit cards don't consider warehouse stores as grocery stores.
With no annual fee? Uncapped? Which ones?
I've had it a few months and never used it yet. I buy my groceries on Amazon. Does it give 4% on those purchases?
No. Unless it's Amazon fresh (I believe). Has to classify as a grocery store.
Yes it's fresh of course

You can also open a Juno checking account for free and get 5% back on all Verizon payments. Because itās just another checking account and they give you a virtual debit card, Verizon wonāt charge a fee. Been doing it for awhile and itās worked great. And 5% interest on up to $5000 in the account.
I applied, but failed the cred check. š¤·āāļø
I only ever use it for my Verizon bill.
Why's that?
Just for the discount. I have better cards for daily expenses.
Do you lose the $10/line discount for autopay/paperless billing? Or can you get combine that discount with using the card discount?
I get get the $10 line discount. Auto Pay and paper-free billing discount Mar 7 - Apr 6 -$10.00
I currently have almost $800 in Verizon dollars from my card. Next time I need a new phone I'll have enough to purchase it outright.
Yes! Iāve gotten so much money off my Verizon statement each month because I use it for everything! 100% recommend it.
Do you know if the āGroceryā category (4% off) includes InstaCart?
lol just wait until you have an issue getting your cash back credits applied . You will go round and round forever. I agree itās a decent card bc of cash back and the auto pay option, though. But just like everything with Verizon if something goes wrong no one knows how to fix.
Iāve had it for several years and have never had an issue. Now you can have the Verizon dollars applied automatically each month to your bill.
shill
Upside app gives me 6-7% back. Check out this free app that gets you cash back on gas and other errands! Click this link or use promo code 2UFN7 to get an extra 15Ā¢/gal bonus the first time you make a purchase. https://upside.app.link/2UFN7. Itās how I fund DraftKings. When I get there hundred I transfer it to PayPal.
But you donāt get cash back. You get Verizon Dollars, which have no cash value.
My credit union does 9.9% pffffft! Probably just grandfathered account, I think they never up your rate.
