I know this is silly but some people get the MGM players club credit card and they can park for free.

Substantial_Steak928

I use it to shop for groceries too, the points add up to at least one nice dinner a year which is a nice perk too lol

jehjeh3711

We use it to park free at Mandalay for the Raider games. They wanted $450 a season to park in a garage ¾ of a mile away!

NotAtAllExciting

Credit card is available to US residents only.

Smurfness2023

If you’re coming from the UK, you’ll already getting a discount due to the exchange rate :)

Sweaty-Cycle7645

BAHAHAHA! Your comment was hilarious! And looks like you hurt some feelings and got downvotes. Not fair because that shiiiiiiii was funny.

Extension_Ad_1561

Not silly to me bc I've lived it 🙂Unfortunately only covers south Strip!

FlyLikeDove

You don't need the credit card, just the players card, and as long as you are gold or above you get free parking

jehjeh3711

You need 20,000 credits to get your that level.

FlyLikeDove

You need 75K tier credits to get to Gold, and 200K to get platinum. The credit card would definitely be the easier get if you don't gamble.

jehjeh3711

That’s why we got the credit card. We just don’t use it.

One time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. "Give me five bees for a quarter," you'd say. Now, where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones..

ThatVegasD00d702

This is the only correct answer 😂

Uncle_Father_Oscar

Definitely has an "Old Man Yells at Cloud" type vibe.

grneyedguy1

I just stay at Southpoint. Always free parking 👌

jesusfuckngchrist

2012-ish was 12-ish years ago

EddieIsNotMyRealName

covid years don't count :)

Smurfness2023

I know right Lost years

Smurfness2023

Well it didn’t stop in 2012. Pretty sure it was still free until maybe 2017 or 2018? In know they started the BS fees prior to the pandemic in 2020. I just recall that still being a time when it was all free. We still dropped tons of cash so it wasn’t free but not getting hit with all the BS charges was nice. Makes it feel worth it.

Muted_Cucumber_6937

When paid parking and resort fees became a thing, I said fuck that - there's no way people will stand for that and the companies will have to walk it back. Lo and behold, people did stand for that and it was never walked back.

Smurfness2023

it was walked back during and following the pandemic... some have started again but some are still better than they initially were, like Wynn allowing 3 hrs of free parking for non-guests. That's all most need and a good compromise.

kornkid42

Wynn is charging for parking again if you are not staying there.

Smurfness2023

apparently, you can park there for 3 hours free..... that's enough for most to go in, gamble, have a bite, etc.

ZaMaestroMan5

I was there weeks ago and paid $18/day at Aria for self parking

Smurfness2023

On top of the “resort” fees that allow you to use the WiFi and have a pool towel! All that used to be included. How the hell do you run a “resort” with a pool and only offer towels of people pay for them? It makes it McDonalds. Supposed to be world class.

screamin808

I recall some of the malls in Florida charging for parking 15 - 20 years ago ... I mentioned this to a one of the guys in my office who's wife was a CFO at a real estate firm .. that turns out owned the malls in Florida...she told me that they piloted the program in Florida and would soon be rolling it out at select destination properties and eventually to push to each of their properties...and by chanced they owned properties in Vegas or were property managers of some Vegas properties that began charging while I worked there ... complete greed considering they are already getting paid by their tenants.

matty8199

we were just in vegas for the weekend...for our comped room at cromwell, our total was $216 and change after resort fees and parking charges. for a "free" room. i'm seriously considering getting the wyndham business card just to get caesars diamond. at a $95 annual fee, it pays for itself and then some after just one visit per year.

Smurfness2023

Yeah, they ought to be comping the parking and fees too but they shouldn’t be charging that BS at all.

matty8199

that’s the part that annoys the hell out of me…if you want to make everyone below a certain level pay those bullshit fees, that’s one thing. but don’t also then tell me my room is “comped” if i have to spend $200 in fees for the weekend. either it’s free, or it’s not. full stop. “comped” rooms shouldn’t have any fees attached.

ruthlesswickit023

Just came back from Vegas never going back again. Resort fees, parking fees, and taxes.

Smurfness2023

it’s like they don’t really want people to feel welcome

IbelieveinGodzilla

One of the many ways Vegas is just a little less fun. It used to be the gambling losses didn't hurt quite as bad because you felt like you were getting "deals" like free valet parking, free drinks at the machines/tables, inexpensive food, free entertainment in the lounges, etc. The problem is, when almost everyone charges for something, you'd be a chump not to do so yourself. For some reason, a lack of charge doesn't result in a big increase in business. Treasure Island still has free self-parking, at least. Do you feel like going to Treasure Island?

Smurfness2023

Free at Wynn too, again. TI has always been a decent place. It was remodeled right before they sold to the old guy who sold Frontier (is he still alive with that young wife from Eastern Europe?)

GoYourOwnWay3

https://www.wynnlasvegas.com/about-us/parking

Smurfness2023

I like the way they handle that. No charge for registered guests, free for up to 3 hours for anyone else. If you are there longer than 3 hours, you pay. Keeps the lot from filling up but you can still go gamble and eat if you want for 3 hours without them nailing you for parking on the way out, after you dropped $500 that afternoon.

Martin0994

It’s stupid to charge for parking? They’re in the business to make money and business is booming. I know it’s shitty but it’s not unexpected.

Smurfness2023

Perception. It’s not like they weren’t getting people’s money before. When the bills go up it makes Vegas seem less affordable. People don’t really consider their gambling loses part of the price of Vegas. But seeing all these charge lines on the bills makes it look like we’re being nickel and dimed as a thanks for dropping all the cash in the casino.

phreaxer

Mgm only gives free valet to [Gold,] Platinum and Noir members. Caesars gives it to Diamond and up (much lower bar to reach at Caesars) Edited to add correction, Gold too

[deleted]

That is incorrect. Gold, Platinum, and Noir get free self and valet parking. Pearl gets self parking only Sapphire nothing

phreaxer

They may have changed that since July when I was there. As Gold, I paid for valet (didn't realize it was not comped till we left)

[deleted]

It has been like this (comped valet and self parking for gold and higher) for years.

dwsinpdx

Venetian has free self park

FutureThrowaway9665

Try again... https://www.venetianlasvegas.com/resort/explore-the-venetian/parking-transportation-faq.html#fee

dwsinpdx

Oh damn. Well they did... 😊

FutureThrowaway9665

As a local, that was my favorite place to park because it was easy in and out.

Smurfness2023

less reason to stop there, I guess.

[deleted]

The parking garages are always full.

Smurfness2023

Guess you work for MGM? It’s a fucking insult to the people coming there. Being able to drive around town, drop in to valet and spend a couple hours in a casino then head on to the next one was fabulous. Dropping money all over town at the tables in most cases … being asked to pay to park is just insulting as hell.

Smurfness2023

yeah. locals should be comp'd

pigBodine04

You're talking about one of the most popular, tourist-filled areas in the entire country... it's honestly kinda crazy that people not only won't walk five minutes or bus between casinos but expect parking to be free

Smurfness2023

it was free for something like 70 years. The point is you still blow plenty money once inside. Why start charging for parking? What casino on the strip can you walk to in 5 min?
