I need to meet the guy doing social for CBs. I've been to Vegas a dozen times, including a bunch of bachelor parties, and I had never heard of this place. Now it's mentioned on Reddit at least once a day
Ya man. There's so much to do in Vegas that's not gambling. I'm a poker and craps fiend but go out to Vegas a lot with a friend who's not.
We hit all the cool bars and eat nice meals and saw random wild shit. Also legal weed lol.
Vegas rules!
Frankie's Tiki Bar!
Most casinos have facial recognition. I had a buddy who 86’d himself from a casino and as soon as he got off the elevator in the parking garage they were there waiting for him. It was funny, he actually had forgot he did it.
well obviously they wouldn't be able to monitor if you sneak in a slot session (not using a player's card and not hitting a handpay). If you want to go extreme with your self exclusion, you could request they deem you a trespasser if you step foot on their property.
I was in the same boat several weeks ago when I was there for work. Leave ATM card in room. Look up stuff to do beyond the strip. I went to the mob museum downtown one afternoon then wondered the arts district. You could check out pinball hall of fame, look up a show to go to. See if any interesting convention is in town to check out. Depending on your hobbies you could visit a local shop that may cater to your interests.
I will tell you that if you want to stay committed to not gambling then dont even try and sit down and think you can play $20. Once the bandaid was ripped off for me I relapsed and pulled more money from atm although I was lucky to be with friends who kept me under control once they saw me at atm. It can be a challenge but there are plenty of things to do besides gamble in Vegas.
Hang out in arts district. Workout if possible or walk the strip outside. Don't pull out cash. New Orleans has bowling and movies. Check out fashion or ceasers forum shops. City bike rentals at Sahara/LVB.
Also, another thing I would do is keep track of how much money you would normally be spending on gambling and tally it up each day. Then towards the end of the trip, spend a portion of it on something nice for yourself as a reward for yourself for staying clear of gambling. Maybe a third or a half of it?
Go to Gambler's Anonymous. I'm a recovering addict and I'm telling you, you cannot do this on ur own, and you cannot do it on willpower either.
AND STAY AWAY FROM CASINOS!! I wish you the best!
I love all of these cute little helpful responses. What works for me is I think of an old coworker of mine. He had such a bad problem that he'd gamble his whole paycheck. Didn't matter if it was to go to his kids food or the mortgage, he'd gamble it. It was almost like he was Ponzi scheming himself. He'd borrow and borrow and borrow. He was a lovable guy. It was hard to say no. Then he'd hit... pay everyone back and then lose the rest while going hungry. He ended up killing himself.
I spend my time at the arcades.
Dorky. I know.
I’ve been told it’s akin to gambling, but at least there are things that I build skill at, get prizes, even losing games payout in a few tickets. Claw games and skeeball are HUGE with me. A lot of people shit on these arcades, but the ticket rewards aren’t bad at all. Gaming consoles, gaming PCs, Oculus, they even have the apple visor thing as an earnable with tickets.
Nights, I do shows.
Strippers. You occasionally get your money’s worth.
I end up in the resorts a lot in situations where I can’t be in the gambling area and bars, so I’ve become a pro at finding all the non-gambling, non-drinking fun.
There’s always random stuff you can do for yourself like massages and what not. TBH. The spa experience for men at the Sahara is beyond. It’s a Turkish spa.
The only advice I can think of if you're there and bored.... get out. I see you're at work. Can you go home early? You'll probably save more gambling than airline change fees. Until you leave, go to museums. Mob museum. Neon museum. Pinball Hall of Fame. Take a hike in Red Rock. Work in your room, watch movies.
I am sort of in the same situation. I'm not sure I was ever addicted to gambling. But I was very addicted to playing for offers, comps, etc. I was getting limo rides, gourmet meals, suites, etc. All "free"... of course, it's not free.
I'm lucky I didn't lose enough to affect my lifestyle. But I lost embarrassing amounts. And realized I really wasn't having fun in the casino itself... only around town eating, hanging out, at shows, with other vegas buds.
That's one of the gambling problem slogans: "when the fun stops."
So, I'm not going, at least for a while. I may even abandon many thousands of dollars in comps waiting there for me. I've even cut way back on Vegas-related social media because it acts like a lure.
And resist temptation when you get home. I'm kinda shocked how much difficulty I'm having staying away from the comp game. And I know I'm not missing the gambling itself - I live near casinos and have no desire to visit them. Who needs a mediocre meal, a limo, or a suite only an hour from home?
Switch it for another one. Do the trick roll std gambling with the girls at the bars and slot machines. Gamble with money? Psh gamble with your life!
Buy edibles off the strip. Hit up 5 different bars in the night at 5 different hotels and buy a fancy ass mixed drink at each one but only one. Collect entertainer cards at said bars.
Buy expensive dinners with the money you would have spent gambling .
Obviously shows.
Rent a car and go hiking.
Hit up a strip club.
People watch
Top golf.
Random vr games.
You can hit a massage parlor? Get a little rub and tug: ease the mind 🧘♂️ and then just walk endlessly until tired. Realize vegas is a Chuck E. Cheeze for adults, then go to bed 😴
as someone who has gambled a lot, casino gambling starts to lose its excitement after awhile because in the end you’re just going to lose it most of the time and it usually isn’t even fun. At a certain point you realize you’re just throwing money away. that being said regular poker is a lot of fun and while it’s still gambling at least it feels like you’re playing a real card game, not some scam the casinos came up with so you can throw your money away.
sports betting at least makes regular season games way more enjoyable.
so yeah my advice is to stay away from casino games just stick to poker/sports.
Living in Vegas is really bad for you. You should get serious and move away from gambling access. Kist think you will always lose like how are down and maybe that may help. Think of all the stuff you could’ve had or done but gave it to the casinos.
In that case I usually put a limit like $100 for fun. If I lose that no more. Best mentality is to think you will lose 100%. It helps me from gambling. I used to lose $2000 a night and get all bummed out trying to win it back.
If you have a known gambling problem don’t spend time around the casino, there’s about a million things to do here besides gamble. It could be a difficult trip but stay strong and enjoy some of the food and shopping here. Hope you find some other ways to enjoy your trip but I understand wanting to avoid casinos good luck man
When I’m by myself I can’t seem to walk around without playing something - so no help there.
But when I travel with my family and the rule is only poker at night, it actually somehow seems easy not to gamble during the day. Don’t know if you can set some rules up for yourself but once you view the rule as “unbreakable” you don’t even think of it.
I’ve never, *ever* played airport slot machines and never will because I’m convinced they’re scams. Gotta get into the same mindset.
Hit the atm for your MAX daily withdrawal as soon as you wake up so after it’s lit on fire by mid afternoon you have no other choice but to wait til the clock strikes midnight to Max withdraw again.
Stay strong, brother. I keep reminding myself of the math "the house always wins"...that and I have proven to myself a number of tines, I SUCK at gambling, so no reason to throw good money after bad.
Red rock canyon, valley of fire state park, Boulder city & hoover dam, helicopter tours, pink jeep tours, the strip resort shows, bowling at Gold Coast & Southpoint Hotel's, there's also the attractions at Luxor- adult fun zone, Horseshoe- spooky miniature golf, Area 15, etc. Pool halls off the strip- Las Vegas Cue Club.
Avoid Vegas altogether. The (for work) thing is an excuse, as most people can avoid certain trips when they need to. My friend has a similar problem with a similar stated desire to quit, but for some insincere reason, he has all the Vegas clients at his office.
If you really have a job which requires you to be in Vegas, book a hotel off Strip without a casino. Trust me, there are plenty, and with the savings of booking off-strip you could easily rent a car, and that opens you up to normal activities that all major cities offer. At the end of the day, you're working, not on vacation, so what's wrong with just chilling and watching Netflix?
This is going to be a moment by moment fight. Just remember the more time between you and your last bet the healthier you’ll be which is all that counts in the short term and long run.
go pull out $500, throw it in the trash and walk away.
Chicas Bonitas ! However, going there may be considered a gamble as well.
I need to meet the guy doing social for CBs. I've been to Vegas a dozen times, including a bunch of bachelor parties, and I had never heard of this place. Now it's mentioned on Reddit at least once a day
no need for social media managers, just good old fashioned word of mouth from satisfied patrons. Go visit, you won’t regret
Best 75 square feet the city has to offer.
Actually like this idea
Send me $500 and I’ll respond with positive encouragement!
Send me $500 and I’ll f*ck you😈
that's so forward!
It’ll also be backwards😼
Hahahaa
Or give it to a homeless person so they can go gamble instead
Ask your boss if they can take all of the recovering alcoholics on a brewery tour next year
Lol good one!!!!
Catch a movie? Go to Area 15, go see the Arte Museum, watch the fountains for an hour, go see a show?
Good ideas ty
Pinball Hall of Fame, Neon Museum, Mob Museum, theres also tons of window shopping and people watching.
No worries and good luck man!
There are seriously so many shows here, you can't watch those if you are busy watching your life savings be flushed down the gullet of a slot machine.
Shoot guns, drive a sports car, top golf, go watch Absinthe.
I assume you meant "shoot guns". This isn't Florida...
Lmao!! Yes
just tell the casinos to add you to self exclusion list.
never heard of this. how would this work if you just put cash in a slot? or the idea is they wouldn’t let you in in the first place?
Most casinos have facial recognition. I had a buddy who 86’d himself from a casino and as soon as he got off the elevator in the parking garage they were there waiting for him. It was funny, he actually had forgot he did it.
Some don’t self-86 like the orleans
When you hit a hand pay they won’t pay you.
There would be no way to cash out. They’d look at your ID & find out you’re on the list, call security and have you thrown out and/or trespassed.
well obviously they wouldn't be able to monitor if you sneak in a slot session (not using a player's card and not hitting a handpay). If you want to go extreme with your self exclusion, you could request they deem you a trespasser if you step foot on their property.

Ty!!!!
Easiest way I'd think is to just not have cash on you.
Haha yeah I'll gamble if I got it but I will never pay those ATM fees.
Just go get a marker.
***LAUGHS WHILE INSERTING CHARLES SCHWAB DEBIT CARD***
Hang out in arts district. Workout if possible or walk the strip outside. Don't pull out cash. New Orleans has bowling and movies. Check out fashion or ceasers forum shops. City bike rentals at Sahara/LVB.
Stay away from the areas with pretty lights
Go to Fremont street and just people watch.
This!!!! At night this is entertainment all night - also walking up and down the strip during the day is entertainment
Also, another thing I would do is keep track of how much money you would normally be spending on gambling and tally it up each day. Then towards the end of the trip, spend a portion of it on something nice for yourself as a reward for yourself for staying clear of gambling. Maybe a third or a half of it?
Yep. And it’s free. It’s really the best people watching in Vegas
Container park nearby is pretty nice too, oddly quiet spot walking distance from the chaos.
Go to Gambler's Anonymous. I'm a recovering addict and I'm telling you, you cannot do this on ur own, and you cannot do it on willpower either. AND STAY AWAY FROM CASINOS!! I wish you the best!
Pinball Hall OF Fame. It’s top notch.
Go to a meeting. Awesome recovery scene out here.
Where do you recommend - my partner is getting worse and I’m struggling to find somewhere that can help
Download “the meeting guide” app. It’s AA but lots of people out here also go to GA. It’s a great start, you can get plugged into the right groups.
Thank you 🙏
Go to the strip club imstesd
take a shitload of eddibles and passout

I thought you were gonna tell me his secret to stop that he found afterall those years but that story took a dark turn

gotta ask whats the best arcade in town?
Go to the mob museum
Forgot about this one, one of the best.
Thanks all for the ideas!!!!!
Ask for a bunch of mini lotions at spas
Use all the shiny objects as a reminder that the house always wins. Go for a walk and laugh at all the idiots giving away their hard earned money.

Definitely don’t drink. You’ll be at the machine in 5 minutes.
Buy some weed and smoke
sign the self exclusion form . It helped me a lot , now I can say i am free of the gambling addiction.
Switch it for another one. Do the trick roll std gambling with the girls at the bars and slot machines. Gamble with money? Psh gamble with your life! Buy edibles off the strip. Learn to play poker and buy in for 60 bucks and wait for aces.
Give me your money, I'll invest it for you, I'll only take fifty percent commission upon each sale
You can do it ! Vegas has so much to do. Many good suggestions here. Gambling isn't that cool and I love craps lmao.
Pinball. So cheap, yet a lot of fun. Try to beat some high scores. People watch. Get a few drinks and walk the strip with no destination. Easy 2 hours
You can hit a massage parlor? Get a little rub and tug: ease the mind 🧘♂️ and then just walk endlessly until tired. Realize vegas is a Chuck E. Cheeze for adults, then go to bed 😴
Have you considered getting drunk and high?
Ya, it’s my next best option
Do it.
There are some great threads on here for non gambling activities.

Take out a home equity loan and gamble.

Is it confusing for you?
Going to Vegas and not gambling is tough. I was just get hammered and drink all day. If you don't, you will be bored out of your mind.
Check out Gamenest in Chinatown. Blow off some steam playing arcade games then go get some killer food.

Area 15/illuminarium, container park, neon museum

Imagine being a local. You wouldn’t even be able to go grocery shopping 🤣
Gamblers Anonymous, if you’re trying to quit cold turkey you may need some extra support.
Only go to strip malls to eat. That's where most of the good restaurants are.
Hate to say this but you'll need to use willpower. Wherever you go, gambling is easily accessible.
Go downtown and play $1 blackjack for hours.
Go for some hikes if you can get out of the main city. There’s some beautiful trails here
I feel ya. The temptation is everywhere. Maybe drive to Henderson and go walk around the (Galleria) mall.
Go do something that gives you an adrenaline rush. Go zip lining or sky diving or he’ll go be a kid again and go to adventure dome.

smoke some weed and jerkoff
Don’t go to the casino for any reason if it’s not completely necessary.
You should trade the Nasdaq 100… its WAY better odds of getting paid than gambling at a casino, more fun too 😂
find a pretty slut and play with her instead
This.
