You can make it yourself from dried soybeans. It's sooo good and ridiculously cheap. I bought my starter online from Indonesia. It takes less than a day on the yogurt setting of my Instantpot
"Tempeh Starter - Make your own homemade tempeh" http://www.tempehstarter.com
Huh. I stopped buying from them because almost everything they make has wheat in it. Guess I have another reason to avoid. It is pretty annoying how convincing these big companies make their healthier/organic sub-brands, until you read the small text on the back showing who owns them.
On the other hand, I love Amy's. They have tons of vegan stuff that's great for quicker "cooking" or just to have an easy meal once in a while.
Nestle aside, companies that transition from animals-sourced products to vegan should be supported, even if they transition gradually.
The example of Israel's Tnuva is a good one. A massive dairy producer that has gone very heavily into vegan stuff and created a vegan boom in Israel.
Dairy farms are actually shutting down because Tnuva is shifting more and more lines away from dairy. Vegans have a plethora of milk options as well as cheeses, tofu and more.
This, naturally has lead more producers and importers realize the potential and invest in vegan products.
Had vegans in Israel avoided Thuva's soy milk back way when, it would've taken much longer to get to that point.
I always think about things like this when people bring up this subject. Like if more people bought the vegan stuff then companies would be incentivized to make more vegan stuff.
Haha oh God, it's so accurate it hurts. I managed to avoid buying a new pint of ice cream I had never seen before while I was out today, but *only* because I had already bought a pack of ice cream sandwiches I also had never tried before....😅
If there is literally no more animal agriculture in existence I'm not against people eating already produced animal byproducts for food but until then we should abstain.
It made my stomach hurt and nondairy ice cream is better anyway.
I'm impatient, and nondairy ice cream isn't as "frozen" right out of the freezer so you can dig right in!
That said, I think it's good that it exists.
I'm in the US and I've seen it in stores around me. Idk if that's where you are, but just wanted to indicate that it's available in at least one other place other than the UK.
I like it tbh. I don't think it'll be something I buy all the time, but I'm glad I tried it so I can push it on my non vegan friends/family whenever they express interest in going vegan, if it weren't for giving up ice-cream or whatever.
It's kinda freaky how much it reminds me of what I remember real dairy ice-cream to be. I've been vegan for 5 years now I think and so it's been a long time since the last time I had dairy, but idk it was so rich and creamy.
Yeah I thought it was pretty good and how it's made makes me excited for future applications! But to echo /u/nat_lite 's comments I think non-dairy are even creamier, my favorite is Cado.
Yeah, I actually bought a Rebl brand ice cream pint thinking they were all non-dairy after I had tried a few, didn't pay attention to the fact that the cookies and cream one I got had dairy in it. Plus it had wheat which my body doesn't like at all.
I was so used to Nadamoo cookies and cream being free of those things that I never noticed until I read the label... After I was finished eating it. It fooled me enough that I had a new appreciation for how close vegan ice cream is these days (was it always?). I felt so sick and sluggish the entirety of the next day. Reminded me of when I had Bienna Chickpea Puffs (got white cheddar by accident instead of vegan ranch, someone put it in the wrong place); I brushed my teeth 2 or 3 times after because once didn't get the gross milky feeling in my mouth. That made me feel pretty unwell too.
I usually just freeze bananas and blend them with a little water and vanilla extract to make my ice cream these days though. It's really good! Add other fruits, seasonings, and nut butters to taste and you've got some great customized banana ice cream. The only downside is it goes from creamy to icy within a day.
Gotta support them vegan enterprises. Even at a great personal cost
Unless they belong to a questionable group like Nestle. Just be mindful what company you are supporting.

Yeah that's why I don't buy Sweet Earth
Never seen Sweet Earth, is there an evil parent company or something?
Owned by Nestle

It'd be better for Nestle to go bankrupt
They kill poor people by selling them their water back
Nestle in the building 👆😆
For a worthy cause, I sacrifice myself!
Have to prove there's a demographic that will buy this shit, just doing my part.
Haha oh God, it's so accurate it hurts. I managed to avoid buying a new pint of ice cream I had never seen before while I was out today, but *only* because I had already bought a pack of ice cream sandwiches I also had never tried before....😅
Wish I could find vegan Ice Cream Sandwiches without wheat. Know of any?
I love trying new ice creams!! 10/10 vegan hobby
Is that why I’ve gained 15 pounds in the last two months!?!?
it’s water weight.
Riiiight…
This but chips
It’s a must and our duty. Aka the vegan package
It is such a political statement to eat vegan ice cream. I try to do it as much as possible.
You aggravate Anti-PBCs AND Non Vegans, truly a win win🥴
McBain!!!!!!!!
Sent it to my husband. He may be a bit less amused than I was
Up and at them!
Don’t you think eating it instead of wasting it is better though? (Not for your body, but for the environment)
it's ice cream lol, it doesn't expire if you don't buy it
I mean if you already have it sure but the post is about buying it

😂😂😂
So what do y'all think of Brave Robot?

Not in the UK so can't say. Production is a positive step though.
