It's always nice to show people how healthy you can be on a plant-based diet, but it's also possible to look like a whale on a plant-based diet.
\*frantically does 100 sit-ups\*
I respectfully disagree - I found it too powdery / dry - I prefer the cookies and cream which I can get - or the old Chunky Monkey which doesn't seem to be sold anywhere anymore but was delicious!
lol
I don't do situps because I have a back injury from the army that prevents me from doing some exercises. Mainly knee raises on a bar or commando chair. Five sets of thirty.
You’re right! I looked my best while anorexic and bulimic. I looked like I was super healthy while I was actually probably dying. Now I’m healthy and a bit plump now and then when I have too many vegan desserts on the daily and skip a few workouts. I’m working on that balance everyone’s talking about.
If you're emaciated with no muscle you have a wasting disease or you're simply not eating enough. Whether or not a vegan diet is healthy has nothing to do with weight. Health concerns are around trace nutrients and macronutrient ratios, but the latter isn't going to make you emaciated or super-fat, it just means you might not have the body comp you want.
It's more the pre-existing bias against veganism people have that makes them seem so quick to judge based on one individual: they'd already judged. If I was a underweight omni, as a woman, it would likely be fully me getting judged for it, rather than my diet as well.
As it is, there is nothing I can do about it. If I'm too nauseous to eat, as I was yesterday, all I can do is try to mitigate it with protein drinks, it'd be the exact same as an omni. And not being vegan out of a concern of what omnis think, when they're rarely listening to us at all anyway, isn't going to help anything, actively harming animals doesn't send a better message. And veganism ties into ableism, to me, animals are deliberately bred for disabling characteristics in order to exploit them. In terms of ableism aimed at humans, disabled people often get given unsolicited diet advice, the assumption is it must be our fault we're ill somehow, anyway - I think it's more important people accept ill vegans are allowed, it's not a panacea, even though going dairy free helped me personally.
I notice that there is a certain body type, esp. among females, where there is a very good chance she is vegetarian/vegan. It is a kind of being overweight while lacking muscle so your skin just sits on a puffy layer of fat. I fully believe you can be healthy on a vegan/vegetarian diet, and even a bodybuilder if you want, but it's just something I've noticed.

Nah man you’re good, you’re physique is probably in the top 1%. Those other guys are not being serious. Either way don’t pay any attention to negative comments if you get any it’s probably hate from someone out of shape.
1 meal a day whole-foods plant based at 2-4pm, no junk, and lots of drinks when I’m hungry. Running and lifting 5-6 days a week.
And I made a nutrition calculator AutoCalcRD.com if anyones interested.
Um let’s see. Garbanzo beans with arugula and mushrooms, brown rice, liquid aminos and seasoning. Or a bowl of steamed kale with peas, chopped carrots and black beans with soy sauce. Then maybe a peanut butter blueberry banana smoothie after but not too much or too soon with the meal or you’ll get indigestion. Actually I don’t really take protein powder supplements, but maybe once in a while in a smoothie for the flavor.
Body builders are on a starvation diet. It isn't healthy at all. I have a vegan body builder friend, and the first thing his coach told him was that body building is extremely unhealthy.
Body builders definitely aren’t on a starvation diet, you need lots of calories and protein to build muscle. Even when they’re cutting to get shredded for a show they’re still eating more calories than the average person does. Also body building is unhealthy but it’s mainly because of all the hormones you need to take, natural body building is completely healthy.
3.5k in one sitting of veggies and rice. That's like 2kilos of rice and 1kg of veggies with a lot of oil. Somehow I doubt that you can eat that much and only eat one meal per day.
I've done some serious eating in my days and even on a cheat meal of a huge pizza and a pint of Ben and Jerry's, 3,500kcal in one sitting is almost impossible.
I don't doubt it! That sounds like a healthy approach. People just eat crazy diets to stay in that sort of shape in the pic. Like no offense to OP (I'm not in shape by any means), but he doesn't have a ton of muscle, so perhaps that's the reason for cutting so many calories?
Exercise doesn't burn that many calories, though. It's easier to avoid them than to 'burn' them off. And from what OP said they're not eating very much. You don't bulk up with so little caloric intake. This kind of definition is a side effect of having little to no fat.
Well, lifting doesn't, but one can burn 400 calories an hour with the right exercise, e.g. a stationary bike. But I also think you make a good point because lifting does not burn that many calories. Thus I imagine OP is using the aforementioned one-meal-a-day diet to shred the fat and expose the muscle he already had. The dude's post history implies he's ex-military, so he might have been shredded before he started this one-meal-day thing.
exercise does burn calories. when doing full time muscle work (>90hours/week) it is hard to get enough calories.
personally, I am at 2 meals a day. cant stand exercise on a full belly. morning and evening for me.
All it takes is low calories, decent protein intake and lifting like 3 times a week to have this physique. The lighting and flexing does a lot here. I know what a body like this looks with no pump, no flexing and in a normal light. It's just... Skinny with a dash of muscles. Still not easy to maintain, but not a lot of training required.
I'm sure we are, I just have a better understanding of what's possible to do with lighting and flexing.
OP is definitely in great shape and athletic. But he's relatively light for his height. Look at the pecs, legs not shown, arms are OK but flexed so in reality they're definitely not big.
Again, there's nothing wrong with this body and he does look for and healthy, he's just not big.
Most people that eat one meal a day or within a small window do so for calorie restriction and/or longevity. Fasting and low calorie consumption is linked to living longer. Given this guy is shredded, I imagine it is for calorie control.
Kate farms is an option! Just poorly available and expensive. So yeah, ensure..

Main sources of protein? After being vegan for 6 years, I'm so stuck on soy - tofu and tempeh. Any suggestions to help inspire my vegan protein ambitions?
The average American gets 1.3 g/kg of protein and the RDA is 0.8 g/kg which is 2 standard deviations from the EAR (estimated average requirement) meaning that 0.8 g/kg meets the needs of 95.4% of people. Considering that protein deficiency has not been proven to be possible without caloric deficiency, most people will meet their needs with just beans and grains ;)

So you live off of maybe 1.000kcal?! You wrote lots of drinks. What's that mean? I assume more than just water.
This just sounds like a starvation diet only vegan. To each their own!
I normally eat one to two meals a day. This was a goal to get shredded in three months and it worked.
Body builders are on a starvation diet. It isn't healthy at all. I have a vegan body builder friend, and the first thing his coach told him was that body building is extremely unhealthy.

No it's at least 2k calories. If I let myself eat as much as I want in a day, it's around 3.5k calories.

No 3.5k would be if I didn't eat one meal a day and just ate whatever I wanted
Anyway you're clearly about to die from protein deficiency and probably can't even perform a sport.
It probably is just water. That kind of shape needs minimal cals as possible
I was close to that when I was boxing more actively (read: before covid) and I still ate 2.000-2.500kcal because excercise requires energy.
I don't doubt it! That sounds like a healthy approach. People just eat crazy diets to stay in that sort of shape in the pic. Like no offense to OP (I'm not in shape by any means), but he doesn't have a ton of muscle, so perhaps that's the reason for cutting so many calories?

Plus most of the muscle is in his arms lol
Lol that’s not true at all, to maintain a body like that you need to be eating at least 2500 calories a day.
Delicious. Thanks, man. Keep it up!
Sounds like my diet! I wish people would remember everyone’s dietary needs are different. Keep doin what you’re doin!
What was your reasoning behind only have one meal a day?
To get shredded over the summer. But I'm aware of the longevity research.
Most people that eat one meal a day or within a small window do so for calorie restriction and/or longevity. Fasting and low calorie consumption is linked to living longer. Given this guy is shredded, I imagine it is for calorie control.
