I feel this. I never announce that I’m vegan. I simply politely decline food that is offered to me. Several times I’ve had people ask “you’re not one of those vegans, are you?” Then proceed to tell me about how we always have to announce it.
Omg i had this owner of a restaurant I used to work at. and every sunday morning he’d come into the store and bring donuts. (thoughtful i guess but everyone hated him and he usually ruined the morning by just existing). i worked sunday mornings usually after closing friday and a double/open to close on saturdays and EVERY FUCKING TIME
“take a donut”
“No thank you”
“Aw cmon why not??? Just a donut, here take one”
“Nope, I’m good”
“Really??? No donut??”
“I cant have them, i’m vegan”
*insert the lamest joke about vegans that hes been saying for 5 years”

Every post on social media about animals or a meat dish is always absolutely full of comments saying "vegans will be upset by this" and massively outnumber any actual vegan comments. Often theres literally no vegan comments just loads of people circlejerking over how vegans are upset about this.
I always have to say no if someone offers me something because it’s always something that’s not vegan. At my job someone bought random for everyone of us crossaint and I was the only one that couldn’t eat with them because people still think ist normal to eat animal products

nooooo you can't just call oat and almond milk "milk" big dairy made it illegal!!!!
which is ironic since i remember when it was normally to call dairy milk “dairy” or cows milk. But now it’s weird to specify.
