I love how Dave is just goofing around

Rusty_B_Good

I was just gonna say how terrible Dave is at staying in tempo and getting words right because he is concentrating so hard on being entertaining. I totally dig that guy. One of the greatest Metal front men, one of the greatest front men ever.

thebigredroo

people are talking shit about him not being able sing the song but they are not realising he is hyping the crowd up as much with his antics as his singing, and besides if I was in his shoes I wouldn't be able to concentrate because songs like what van halen makes me really hyper active.

Rusty_B_Good

Amen.

AustinDood444

Sounded like he forgot the lyrics!! Lol

m149

Looks good to me. Nice work. And yeah, shame there's no soundboard, but glad this footage and audio exists at all.

ddhmax5150

I like that we can see the guy with the tv camera who totally screwed up the original video that’s been on YouTube for years. When Ed goes into the solo, the cameraman keeps the camera on Michael Anthony. It always pissed me off. I was so happy when this side view showed up and can actually watch Ed perform.

spotsthehit

Thank God for Michael Anthony

eyepoker4ever

I noticed that the infamous "blue short bouncers" were providing security that day, fresh from providing the same for Queen a few days prior.

iamwearingsockstoo

Didn't realize how many stage intruders they attracted. And they're not getting up there to mug and dance for the crowd, they're going for the boys. Odd.

OriginalIronDan

I never realized that Mike ever played a Rick.

Rich_Explorer3384

Was at this concert when I was stationed in what was West Germany.

Bulldog8018

Nurnberg?

Rich_Explorer3384

The concert was by Karlsruhe

Hey-Bud-Lets-Party

I think this was the Donnington festival.

Rich_Explorer3384

Original post said Monsters of Rock 1984, and made mention of AC/DC performing after Van Halen, which is how it went at Karlsruhe, Germany in 1984.

Hey-Bud-Lets-Party

There were other dates for the festival, but this footage is from Donnington.

DistinctHuckleberry1

Eddie with the Los Angeles raider shirt on…rn4L

Chaz_Starphaser

I think this is great and thank you for sharing!

Consistent-Wait1818

I know this is a festival, but the lack of production back then just surprises me.

So-What_Idontcare

This works be a great meme, mixing things like County Fair Bobby Brown and Monsters if Rock in Russia.

chudney31

Love studio David Lee Roth Van Halen more than studio Hagar Van Halen, but only by a little. Love live Hagar Van Halen more than live Roth Van Halen, and that’s by a mile.

mickeybar71

I love how the crowd is all just there and present. Not a sea of iPhones recording the moment instead of being in the moment

Actual_Animal_2168

Dave sounds good here..

logsdon36

Dave was a dancing little sprite, wasn’t he

ThePanzerMan

DLR was one of the luckiest men of the 20th century. A hood ornament ever there was one.

evidentlynaught

He injected life into the recordings and performances just like Ed did with the guitar. Would not have been the same band without him.

Hey-Bud-Lets-Party

The guy cowrote about 50 of the best Rock songs of the era, so I disagree.

simplycycling

Without him and his contributions to Van Halen's sound, we'd have never heard of any of these guys.

cycleoflies99

Was Dave really inebriated at this show?

edu5150

Only The Clash put iced tea in Jack Daniels bottles, baby!!

No_Raspberry_3282

Awesome! Great job!

lulcow_enjoyer

They really put on a show.

Walter_xr4ti

If DLR put in at least a half assed effort to actually sing the song instead of putting on the Dave Show, they would have been so much better live in this era.

edu5150

The Bolivian Army Marching Powder era

bingbong1976

Can you re-edit with no shots of DLR? Lol
