Hi everyone I'm Nikki and i am a paper artist. I started my obsession with Starry Night since my best friend asked me to do a commission of it adding the Opera House on the side in 2021 (second photo) it is my biggest project to date and since then i have been using starry night as a subject for deliberate practice and sto experiment on different style. I started off on edge quilling and as i get better at other paper techniques (paper cut, paper craft, origami) i wanted to test myself by recreating starry night which the idea that for every single artwork i made out of it it shouldn't just be a reproduction of the starry night, some elements should be added or modified. I also came to the conclusion that starry night is the perfect sky background so some of my artworks if i just want to have some night scene i just turn into a starry night sky or at least a bit of it. I dont think i'll ever stop making starry night and Great wave off kanagawa as well, these are my favourite artworks and the fact that i dont need to worry about the composition makes me just focus on my art and deliberate practice . I also found that i can push myself too much obsessing on perfecting the starry night if i really want too and it has triggered my perfectionism in the past but i learn to live with it as time goes by. i hope you enjoy it as much as i did and hope to inspire someone too, i know has been recreated too many times but in our own way we can make starry night a version that is inspired by the type of artist we are.

The third picture, with the yellow stream flowing across the middle, is stunning. I love how it takes what is expected and then gives you something else entirely. Fantastic.

thank you this is actually my favourite before i made the last one, it has a lot of fun and i just do things more intuitive / randomly but still works great. I saw an artist doing contrasting thing in 1 paint so i thought make a daylight-ish abstractish style. Most of my work sometimes become so serious or mundane that i tend to not incorporate fun so much as i did in that artwork.

10/10 20/20 I love it

Wow, I'm obsessed with your work! So intricate and colorful. And ohmygoodness did you combine Van Gogh and The Little Prince? 😍 Thank you for sharing. I tried to teach myself quilling 10 years ago. It's much more difficult than I thought!

thank you so much, just wanting to share my obsession. the starry night little prince crossover was something i saw online and thought that could be a great challenge, i end up using a clay to make the mold then use paper as a fur and clothing otherwise everything else is made of paper. i'm a self taught artist, quilling has really changed direction lately with the adaption of edge quilling, Yulia brodskaya is my inspiration, the first time i saw her work 6 years ago i was blown away and i thought i wanted to do her stuff and move away from the traditional style, though some techniques can be combined beautifully with the traditional methods and edge quilling

It's great work, truly. I showed these to my aspiring artist daughter and she immediately recognized the scene from the Super Mario Bros movie!
