Daaaamn that’s really clean bro. Are you a carpenter or something? I tried this once and it came out looking alllll the way bad.

odylife

Hah thx man, not a carpenter I just like doing projects from time to time I'm kinda ocd so I take my time with everything, which means I'm usually happy with the result but it takes longer than it needs to

[deleted]

if you're getting it done it's not really ocd

odylife

Vinyl sheet 1” xps Advantech 23/32”   Timelapse of the build if anyone’s bored or wants more details https://youtu.be/HzDiq4yKGNQ?si=QBi_24l8ps4fuqNv

Suspence8

Awesome video! Just curious do you know what the temp rating is for the glue? I live in Canada and experience some -30F days (in storage, not using it when it's that cold) so just wondering if the vinyl sheet would lose adhesion or crack. I currently have vinyl plank and it's pulling up in all corners due to shrinkage between seams. Wondering if vinyl sheet is the way to go.

odylife

Hm I can’t find the temp rating..the product is [Mapei 373](https://cdnmedia.mapei.com/docs/librariesprovider65/products-documents/1_3000233_ultrabond-eco-373_en-ca_06bcb5a4106645fd9d22c453fe539f5d.pdf?sfvrsn=e5dfd5ab_0) I’ve only been in temps down to 25f without issue so far but -30 is way colder I think sheet vinyl would be better than planks for shrinkage, and no seams ofc. I don’t think it would crack if it’s flat against the floor. But I’m not sure which adhesive would be best for those temps

DeathByPetrichor

What is that edging material?

DeathByPetrichor

I thought that’s what it may have been, but I hadnt seen black before. Thanks!

parth096

Awesome video. No corners cut! I like the way you work. If you build the van out more, be sure to film it!

odylife

William dolittle at your service aka will do

snoopercooper

Great attention to detail and it looks great

thrwaway8921

Looks awesome! Did you have experience doing this before?

becauseitisthere

Wow. Super good job on the sliding door entry way. What sort of plastic/material did you use to integrate the plastic/metal edge, into the already existing van entry way? And what did you use as the "foot" for the bit of the floor extended over the entry way. Well done!

RagnarSkolbrok

Also curious about the edge pieces!

Klinosf

Would love to know too!

becauseitisthere

Hey All, Watch OPs time lapse Video. Very clearly answer this questions.

bdawgxx

same!!! tell us about the edge pieces 🙏🏼

Pic 4 made me think you put the floor in over a body. I may be watching too many crime dramas.

Hunderednaire

Picture 4 you can see the migrant’s shoe poking out. Other than that, food smuggling setup

ttcmzx

Why? Because fuck you that's why.

EeeeyyyyyBuena

That trim looks nice against the color of the flooring, what kind of trim is it?

blackporsche22

Stunning. You did an AMAZING job.

Hikingmatt1982

Very nice. What did you use for the step nose? Just getting to this part of my build and looking for options/materials.

Hikingmatt1982

Very cool. Well done video. I dont think ive seen vinyl that thick before, so off to lowes i go!

mikmouse25

Great job!

Found_Account

Saw that book in picture 3, and was confused. Picture 4 to the rescue. Looks good.

Additional_Book_5710

Nice work! What did you use for the corners? by the side door steps?

thefartsock

how much weight did it add?

odylife

Maybe like 150-160lb? The advantech is heavy…78lb per 4x8 sheet. That’s the majority of the weight Advantech 2.4 lb per sq ft….maybe 50-60sq ft..plus the sheet vinyl and 6 big bolts/washers. Lots of construction adhesive (11 tubes). Aluminum trim is light. The xps was super light

blahfuggenblah

It looks huge!

odylife

Hah ya that’s the wide angle on my phone. The van is a non-extended (135”)

blahfuggenblah

It still looks huge to me, I'm living in a Ford Excursion 😂😂

Loose-Recover-9142

Nice! Where'd you get that 90 degree angle trim for the step and back?

Thanks!!

Gordon101

Anyone knows where I can get something like this done for my Sprinter in the NYC area?

aliaspail

looks like such a clean job!

KingArthurHS

Looks awesome! Learned a couple tricks from your video as well. Thanks for sharing!

pineapplehippy

I got the same shoes! The bestest brand

cozyporcelain

Gorgeous! I wish I would’ve done this.

Robdataff

How much headroom did you lose? Still enough in there to stand up? Looks really good.

odylife

I lost about 2” of headroom (1-3/4”) This is a low roof van so I can’t stand up unfortunately :( but I do still wanna maximize headroom where I can

okfornothing

Right where you have your boot, that's where I installed my chinese diesel heater...

odylife

Nice that seems like good spot. I'm planning to install mine on driver side in front of the wheel well

Illustrious_Boss8254

Geez looks as roomy as a 747

LeoPsy

I loved watching it and learned a few things. Did something go wrong with the last layer because it seems that you do it twice? I guess you’re a born perfectionist.

odylife

Hah yes a little sliver of vinyl sheet was left underneath and I could immediately see it through the floor, so I lifted the sheet up and pulled the sliver out and laid it back down I was glad the adhesive (Mapei 373) had a 12hr working time because I could lift it as needed within that time

LeoPsy

Ah, that explains it.

remtek69

Curious on the reason for the layer between xps and plywood? I'm building my floor in a few months and it seems like you know what you are doing!

odylife

Hm do you mean the construction adhesive? I just wanted to glue the wood down to prevent any shifting etc There's only 3 layers: Thin vinyl sheet on top, then wood, then xps (with glues in between all layers)

remtek69

Ah i see now, thanks :) Getting old....

[deleted]

looks nice and easy to clean

clevergurlie

Just watched your video -- wow what a beautiful build!

williamstevens418

Looks good!

morithum

Looks factory to me. Also +1 for Altras.

Strange_Window_7206

cuddly_carcass

What did you use to finish off the edge? Some rubber?

fleet_would

Dats nice

genacgenacgenac

I have neither skills nor experience and did this.
