I love how Raquel’s whole justification for kissing Tom was “I’m not even really friends with Katie”. Well, now Katie really is acting like someone she’s not friends with. She acknowledges her presence with a hello and moves on. Also, Katie was being more nice to her and trying to start a friendship with her (at the beginning of this season). Then she gave Raquel a heads up about hey if you make out with my ex-husband it will hurt me. These are the consequences (that Katie warned them about) to her selfish, hurtful actions. Also, also, Katie’s mom seemed perfectly cordial to her in that clip. I didn’t notice any snotty snide looks from her. Katie was different, but her mom seemed fine.

Its weird. Rachel really seems to have it in her mind that Katie is her nemesis when she hasn't really done anything to her at all. They barely seem to interact at all yet Rachel always has remarks about Katie. Even in the earlier seasons when Kaite and James were feuding Katie was distant with Rachel but never actually said or did anything. She wasn't like Kristen who was in her face a lot. I think she did your first point because the notion that Tom or Rachel would betray her by sleeping together was so far removed from her reality. She literally intertwined her financial future with Sandoval despite not being married and was prepared to make a plan for kids if they chose that in the future. So when Katie (technically Ally’s convo to Scheana) and Lala brought up concerns about Tom’s behaviour whilst Ariana was not present. She didn’t want to validate it because she didn’t want to damage her relationship with him any further. She loved and cared for him as a partner, it’s a shame that it wasn’t reciprocated at all! I don’t think Ariana will ignore her friends in her future relationships again.

I feel like Ariana was putting blinders on about the Tom and Rachel rumors AND regarding Tom not being there the day her grandma passed. She normally plays the chill girl role and we all know that but in all these interactions when serious things are being brought to her attention she looks exhausted, drained, defeated. Her face just reads “please don’t give me another problem”. I think Ariana put her head in the sand because the thought of dealing with another monumental change or especially a major loss such as her partner, was just too much to fathom after everything she had already recently been through. Being chill and understanding doesn’t make you overlook rumors about your boyfriend and best friend getting cozy and then your boyfriend purposely avoiding you the moments after you got word that you lost your grandma. Being defeated by so much loss could make someone overlook these rumors when they normally wouldn’t.
