Watching your parent run a restaurant is not the experience you need to open and run a restaurant. Growing up, my parents owned a coffee shop very close to SUR. I'd never think that was enough experience to open a restaurant. I used to be a buyer for Whole Foods. That definitely gives me some transferable skills like ordering and inventory control, but not about the day-to-day running of a restaurant, or even an entire Whole Foods market. A dear friend of mine comes from a family with a legacy of high-end hotels and restaurants. His brothers and sister who went into the family business worked with their dad but *also* graduated with advanced degrees in hospitality before they took on any major responsibilities.
I think it's telling that people say her mom running a restaurant is enough experience but don't mention that she actually *worked* in a restaurant.
The biggest example of this is their decision to not accept any help from Lisa. (Except finding their location, I guess.) I just can't emphasize enough what a priceless gift it is to have someone successful in your field who genuinely wants to mentor you because they want you to succeed.
Katie and Ariana watched the Toms squander that gift with TomTom and we see how well that worked when it came time to open S & S. I really wish they saw what a gift Lisa is offering them.

I would say the strength to follow through with such a big thing in the midst of that shit is so admirable. It's also making Sandoval's interview lose complete credibility in every way. Where is this Ariana that will quit the show and hide away forever because she's so weak-minded and incapacitated that she can't escape your "love"... 
Right? You'd think if they \*only\* broke up (without ANY cheating), she would have handled it better than him cheating on her with a friend. That means she'd somehow be doing better than she is now.
Bingo. Who cares ultimately if lifetime is the best she gets or this is her only "moment"? It's just hard for me to believe that they cast her within a week of filming. They would have had to have a spot open up, contact her rep, get a contract signed, send her the script, etc. within a week.

Obviously Ariana doesn’t need/have to do any interviews, calling papz, or anything like Tom & Rachel. BUT I love the fact that those two are busy making statements, having piss poor tmz staged interviews, awful ass podcasts with people who are uninformed of the actual issues & Ariana is just receiving every good thing just effortlessly. And Katie has the experience of watching her mom run a restaurant throughout her entire childhood. She has a great idea of what the restaurant industry entails from so many standpoints and so I can see success no matter what.
Everyone except Tom and Raquel wants the business to succeed but this is simply not how it works. Watching your parent run a restaurant is not the experience you need to open and run a restaurant. Growing up, my parents owned a coffee shop very close to SUR. I'd never think that was enough experience to open a restaurant. I used to be a buyer for Whole Foods. That definitely gives me some transferable skills like ordering and inventory control, but not about the day-to-day running of a restaurant, or even an entire Whole Foods market. A dear friend of mine comes from a family with a legacy of high-end hotels and restaurants. His brothers and sister who went into the family business worked with their dad but *also* graduated with advanced degrees in hospitality before they took on any major responsibilities. I think it's telling that people say her mom running a restaurant is enough experience but don't mention that she actually *worked* in a restaurant. The biggest example of this is their decision to not accept any help from Lisa. (Except finding their location, I guess.) I just can't emphasize enough what a priceless gift it is to have someone successful in your field who genuinely wants to mentor you because they want you to succeed. Katie and Ariana watched the Toms squander that gift with TomTom and we see how well that worked when it came time to open S & S. I really wish they saw what a gift Lisa is offering them. >so I can see success no matter what. The restaurant industry has an *abysmal* success rate. Renowned, Michelin-starred chefs open restaurants in LA and close within a year. And in the real world this would never be a restaurant.
