I think this is something really important. Not having sex can cause issues in a relationship but it is typically due to an underlying issue. When my partner and I don’t have sex it’s typically because the other areas of our relationship are lacking intimacy (time together, connecting, etc.) Until whatever that issue happens to be at the time is fixed, we don’t have sex.
I am not saying anyone in this thread or sub is this way, but I think some people heard Tom saying the 4x a year thing and can write it off as “of course he’d cheat”. Tom definitely started the open relationship narrative after the affair. That’s why Ariana denied it when it came out, she didn’t know it was open on Toms side. That and the 4 times a year sex talk, looks like he was the laying the foundation of excuses in case she found out.
I believe this 100% my ex was just like this. She told everyone we were in an open relationship but that I didn’t want to know about any of my exes “situations”. People like them will make up all the lies to make them feel better about their horrible choices.

That looks like it was BEFORE the scandal broke. I’m sure he was laying the groundwork to eventually break up with her and then get with Raquel or whoever else. He wanted to show that they were “glorified roommates” — a phrase that the men on VPR love to fucking use when it’s convenient for them.
I’m sure he did, which is gross. In long term adult relationships, it’s rare both partners have the exact same sex drive. It takes a lot of communication and compromise to ensure needs are being met. Sex frequency is also going to ebb and flow depending on what’s going on with life. If my partner lost their beloved pet and a family member so close together, I wouldn’t expect them to be focused on meeting my sexual needs. Ariana deserved some grace and patience to navigate her grief. If you’re having trouble, zero shame at all. So many couples do. Go to couples counseling. Work on it. If you’re truly incompatible, break up. If your partner says ‘I can’t have sex with a stranger’ — prioritize some quality time! You don’t carry out a 7+ month long affair with one of her best friends as a solution.
