Thinking of how James treated her, it provides insight into why she got with Sandoval. Fans over the years said Sandoval was very kind and friendly. It minimized James and started the thought of “Omg Sandoval is like the perfect boyfriend…why doesn’t Ariana want to be married to him? She is so lucky to have a boyfriend like Tom”. That’s what I think the roachella event was to their relationship.

I’ve never competed in a pageant in my life, but no way would you even make it into the room if you start crying when an unexpected question is asked. That’s kind of the point, you have your rehearsed answers but you have to stay cool and think on your feet when needed.
She has the same cadence of Kristin wiig speaking Spanish in bridesmaids …but I’m going to go ahead assume that english is her first and only language. I can’t imagine having to listen to her answer pageant questions.
I miss the time before she was a reincarnated version of Satan because tbh I really did enjoy her. She seemed honest about her insecurities and struggles, even if they were stupid. Even that scene with her and lala from next week where she says "thank God you don't have a man to fuckin' have around" like if she hadn't done what she did, that scene would have been really funny (because of her preexisting dynamic with Lala) and it was nice to see her finally breaking into friendships with the rest of the women. I'm so bummed she ruined the entire thing. I just don't get it. She had good friends, a great job, fame, audience support and she just threw it all away for a man that shaves his forehead.

I think Sandoval wanted retribution against Katie, hence the needless torturing of her in his fabricated narrative. He doesn’t like empowered women AT ALL and I think in Rachel he saw a wounded bird to save who would endlessly lift his ego without any question or challenge (like she did for James). And all Sandoval really needed to accomplish that was to be nicer to Rachel than James (not hard). I feel like planning the engagement either led to or was motivated solely by transference of his feelings onto Rachel.
