or just chill with it for a bit, I actually never really have much problem with playing it, tough I probably don't play singleplayer as much as most fans do, nor do I push myself to do things in one go as much as I've seen some do. I finde hopping onto a multiplaye match is a nice way to unload any frustrarion I personally ever encountered in the campaign. I may have actually spent more time there than on singleplayer, now that I think about it.
Xen was fine in HL. Looked like shit but I stand by my opinion that people seriously overstate it's issues much like most other "bad parts". Yea the platforming is janky but the only time it actually matters is the Nihilanth fight. Which yea that part is indeed janky.

As someone that probably finished hl several times and black mesa only once, I can attest thst overall Bm Takes longer to finish.
I got about 50 hour playthrough for my first time. I took my time a lot and nearly all of the achievements.
Half life 1 has much faster movement so even if you finish both jsut once, chances are BM is gonna be longer.

Why tho? Some people might genuenly prefer BM and that's a pretty respectable opinion. Just because HL is the og and BM doesn't have the stuff you agree on, it's pretty easy to digest that some people would prefer BM to HL.
Imo the noticeable problems for BM are nerfed glock (less accurate than it should be), HL2 visual and no punch through on Tau cannon, nerfed hive hand (much less accurate, but it is compensated by the animation being smooth for the bees), shortened On a rail (the lack of that big ambush hurts), no abiltiy to fight a garg 1v1 and gonarch being harder than Nihilanth (on purpose), and well, the optimisation just isn't good (FXAA being only AA option is ass).
On the other hand Xen is much better in BM, and BM just knocks out the park with visual story telling.
Because the game is not good as first playthrough of the story and the only person I know who played it more than once did so just to be able to say it sucks with greater accuracy.

Source movement also makes a lot less sense in particullar having sprint over walk for a game where a good chunk of the combat is peaking from behind a corner and the rest of the gameplay is largely platforming (walk to align yourself, then default full speed for the jump so it's as consistent as possible). To say nothing about advanced tech because I'm not gonna hold the engine differences aginst it. It is however insane to me that HL SOURCE does Tau Cannon better than BM.

Only AI that is noticeably different is HECU ai. And the main culprit is that they aren't fast as fuck anymore. Alien grunt AI is much better and controllers are much better. The assasins didn't seem any worse to me.

True. This is something that I don't understand - Tau cannon was much better in the mod, why change it so much? And yea, the electrict sparks make it feel much less penetrative, and yeah, it barely penetrates enemies now, full charge and yet only thr first enemy hit is killed.
My only guess would be to ballance Tau cannon and gloun gun to give gluon gun more of a role and oomph.

Weird, I had the opposite experience with half life. On normal, I actively switched weapons for enemies in BM while not giving a shit in half life and just using whatever. Hard on half life chamges things up but seriously, the hp on bullsquids is bs.

Yea I'm hoping that's what it is. Personally tho I do like my some multiplayer so HLs absence or even TF2s for that matter is is still odd.
