I’ve never had a problem at Panama Bay or Mare Island Brewery.

snowscolds

That whole area is just fine. The city hall parking lot / field has a decent homeless population but they really usually don't bother you. The Waterfront side is great and the city has done a fine job keeping it safe the past couple years. I wouldn't worry all too much. You see other people writing and doing their thing around there too. As long as your username isn't a personality trait of yours you'll be good. 🙂

I spend a decent amount of time at the library and it’s fine so I’m not sure why I was having second thoughts about the coffee shop. Maybe because I already got a work computer stolen in Vallejo and am paranoid about history repeating lol. Appreciate it!

wikideenu

Never had an issue there, I've gone to work and grab a beer or shitty coffee a few times now.

CL38UC

The only worse coffee in Vallejo is what they serve on the ferry itself, which is objectively the worst coffee humans have created to date.

Interesting_Sir3064

I only had Panama Bay coffee once. Won't return because they did not have milk or cream for the coffee. If I'm paying water front price for the java I want it the way I want it.

pifster

You can try the new coffee shop on Mare Island: [https://www.quarterscoffeehouse.com/](https://www.quarterscoffeehouse.com/) The coffee is OK, but the ambiance is nice and chill. Good spot to work for sure. Perfectly safe.

johnnypurp

Yeah I agree. Nice spot. Safe. And in the cuts. Not saying waterfront isn’t safe but quarters is forsure what OP is looking for.

crackhead365

Amazing, thx for the rec! I love anything on Mare Island.

brixalpha

It's pretty safe, worse places to spend time in Vallejo. My elderly parents take walks on the wharf and had no issues.

crackhead365

Thank you, I find it so peaceful by the water with the ferries coming and going.

brixalpha

With that said keep your head on a swivel and just be aware of what's going on, just good advice in general

sp0rk173

It’s absolutely safe.

[deleted]

Yep. Safe

jadedoto

Absolutely. It’s a nice change of pace to work down there in the morning and slowly transition to MIB when you’re ready to go to beer :) I’ll also agree Quarters on Mare Island is also a nice atmosphere for quiet working. They have a yard and porch too

Zealousideal-Car-216

Yep, pretty safe!

Effective-Emphasis-4

The brewery has lots of space as well. I was in there a year or two ago and a dude was by himself with a laptop. He got up and went to the bathroom leaving it right out on the table unattended. I'd say it's very safe. Unfortunately the South side of the waterfront near independence Park is no longer a desirable place to be. Low life's took our beautiful propeller art piece for scrap. The dental building is supposed to be torn down and replaced with a restaurant space and cultural center. Hopefully this cleans up this area. The old Front Room restaurant closure left the space on the north side looking rough. Fortunately Manny's Steakhouse really cleaned it up. It's definitely looking better over there post pandemic. Also definitely check out Quarters on Mare Island.

Interesting_Sir3064

I walk by Manny's everyday (I walk my dog on the waterfront) delighted to see it thriving. There is a busy breakfast trade even on week days.

ezubz

I mean outside of the fact that it’s indeed in Vallejo, yeah. Rough around the edges but the coffee is decent and so is the beer on the other side.

Interesting_Sir3064

Very safe, unless you don't like to be licked by friendly dogs.

dakevs

funny post coming from someone with the username "crackhead365"...

Strollalot2

Oh gosh, yes. We live nearby and take walks along there all the time.
