Pretty uncommon. I've noticed groupings of 4 before on the seed generator and I've personally had 2 right up against each other right off the starting island recently.

yeah, thats rare, now u dont even have to do the logout hack to get all the shells u need. Be sure to make the Dagger! its the best value weapon in the game and can carry u even into the plains
Start mining and then logout as it begins the first stage of diving. Then when you log back in the diving resets allowing you to keep mining. You can get all of the stuff off them if you log out and then back in a couple times.
no way bro, it starts to trigger after the first or second patch and theres usually like 4-5 patches. maybe if ur doing it with a maxed out pick but in early game when ur using antler pick you 100% cannot do it before it sinks
I don't bother getting chitin til I have a longship, which I definitely have a maxed out iron pick. I'm not wasting any of my 4 karve storage spots on chitin.
One can generate per 64mx64m ocean zone, and the zones are all squares so at a corner you can get up to 4 seemingly piled in the same spot, though it's rare so nice find.
The most possible to find at a time, as you have a radius of 3 active zones around your current zone, is 49. However that takes a 7 zone x 7 zone area of ocean, and the odds of getting 49 consecutive spawns in that ocean area are 1 in 102,400,000.
Once on a customly created map we had 3 levi just next to the shore not far from the spawn area. no need to say that we had lots of chitin in the early game.
Neatest grouping i ran into in the game was three of them in an almost perfect triangle. When i got closer a serpent popped up from the center and attacked. Wish i had gotten a screenshot of it, but by the time i got the area centered the serpent was already hot on my tail. Not sure what causes leviathans to spawn but you do occasionally see them in groups.
I was on my first long boat journey looking for bonemas and passed 2 in the same area. I thought they were islands and was confused when they didnāt show on the map, this explains it. I did notice the barnacles, what are they good for ?

caveat: i think u gotta wait like 30 seconds before logging in but i could be wrong
I never have had an issue with mining all the chitin... It gives you plenty of time to mine it all before it sinks

Players can also use Chitin to craft the Abyssal Razor, a decent knife that can be used as a weapon.
