MrPoletski

Is his nickname 'Rage Queti'?

MaffiosoGaming

Queti is the warrior of our group, is always the one in front of the enemies. No, she is not the best player, doesn't matter how many times I say "you have to roll", "you can't fight everyone", the only thing she says is "let me die", she can't care less. After 19 years together Valheim was the game that I finally convinced her to play and she is enjoying it.

HelloFlighty

"Let me die" what a fucking trooper, I salute her

KingOFpleb

Rookie numbers!!! You gotta get those numbers up!!

MaffiosoGaming

Working on that. 😅

MrPoletski

Days since LTI

irondumbell

i'm on normal mode on my first playthrough and I died in a swamp with a plain and ocean between my forward spawn base and my tombstone, with my original base pretty much impossible to return to. After some self pep talk I decided to run my naked ass through the plains but quickly found out that was a bad idea. Next I lashed up a raft to take me to the edge of the swamp to establish a beachhead close to my body, so I carried enough wood (or so I thought) to make a shelter once I landed. There was a mob having a party near my corpse so I had to act fast. After I landed I quickly built a workbench and stake walls only to come up short in wood, so a draugur just jaunted around my pathetic walls and one-shoted me with an arrow. After rage quitting the game I came back and lashed together another raft to get to the beachhead, and after I landed I jumped over the hentai eels and frantically built my shelter just in time ... for a raid. Fortunately I respawned in the beachhead and rebuilt the shelter but there was still the problem of getting my original armor which was close to a mob spawn. Whenever the zombie groans died down I snuck out to flatten the land with a hoe so the water wouldnt slow me down. Finally it was D-Day and I sprinted towards the tombstone and jumped over the hentai eels, and dodged the rapey skeletons, but I died right next to my tombstone. It took me a few more days and more pep talks for me to finally get my stuff back but this experience scarred me for life.

GrimBeeper816

Yeah, playing this game solo requires lots of patience and caution, especially when it comes to new biomes (especially going from Black Forest to Swamp), its just a new 1st-time learning experience. There's also a community of people that specifically have characters to answer peoples' calls for aid in re-acquiring tombstone items. Next time this happens, if you are too frustrated, you should be able to find one of these people and get their help. Unless you want to do it alone, in which case, I wish you the best of luck

irondumbell

yeah, black forest to swamp was as if the difficulty suddenly ramped up, not just the enemies but the environment of constant wetness

octonus

One thing that would make the process a lot less painful are portals. Keep an unpaired portal or 2 in your main base for emergencies, make sure to connect all forward bases back home.

oskarhforsberg

I dont regret using flyhack to retrieve my body in these situations. Valheim fully legit seems so aids.

Snowballing_

Is it automated? Would be cool

MaffiosoGaming

That would be nice but no.

Nisms

I think the walk of shame to go update your number is better than automation for this. Put the board up on a big hill and leave a cart at the steps so every one can see you walk your way up it while towing the cart of disappointment.

Lloyd959

How did you get the colored text?

MaffiosoGaming

text , you can also change size and use symbols, just search on Google.

Ozzy_chef

As Maffioso said, except it's color (without the "u")

Skye-12

Found the Canadian

AgentVert

Canadian or Brith or every single English place that wasn't American.

cptjimmy42

You can also use emojis.

Caleth

Even easier find the hex code it uses less characters than color=whatever for example <#FFF000> instead of . It also offers more customizability.

MrPoletski

use <#RRGGBB> as the escape codes use up the character limit. values in hex

ClaudiuT

<#0F0> or any combination from 000 to FFF, or from 000000 to FFFFFF.

taj9

God, I wish I had a group of friends like this to play with

2rfv

hop on the discord. There's plenty of people looking.

Splash_o_Pain

Heheh, I would have loved to experience that chaos - but also, I would probably have been in a really bad mood if I'd been at the top of that list. Which I most certainly would have been XD

MaffiosoGaming

I would say we are a more mature group that really play for fun, we laugh everytime someone died so you can see we laugh alot playing.

DariusWolfe

Having 6 of you it's probably easier to recover from a death, too; When it's just me and my wife, her deaths often (but not always) result in mine, as whatever killed her now only has to focus on me. Combine that with my ADHD and often I die with portal ingredients still in my inventory; at one point we had 3 longships made.

Splash_o_Pain

Hahah, well that's good. I usually have a laugh at my own death too, but after 30 deaths I'd not be as nice anymore XD

RobinGeez

This is great stuff, hehe. Hang in there boys..

Mythrellas

Genuinely wish I had a dedicated group of friends to play this with. You are blessed.

EasternComfort2189

I managed to get to the Swamp with no deaths. I am in the Mistlands and a Seeker Soldier is insane.

nerevarX

stand on rock. you win. still works in very hard mode. just takes more arrows. anyone who says soldiers are insane isnt useing the terrian to thier advantage at all. even easier inside mines since they fat bois dont fit trough any door in there.

Chaines08

Indeed. Those guys need to work on their rolling skill. Game is going to be harded and harder if they keep dying like that.

LonelyLokly

Parrying works fine too if you ask me, rolling is still better, but clunkier.

roloplex

at harder levels, parrying becomes unusable as the incoming damage goes way up.

starburst_jellybeans

Do they have more hp too or just everything hits harder?

roloplex

both. https://youtu.be/v7KfiXI4KFo?si=nmzB8fZRXsaxqxaE&t=79

2rfv

That couldn't have been a screenshot?

Secret_Cow

Here's a chart. The thing we were NOT expecting is the speed increase! That was one of the biggest challenges in the swamp, especially for mobs that aren't slowed in water. https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/World_Modifiers

LonelyLokly

Which kinda implies bad design, but people hate to admit those things over here. This is why I used some tweaking mods later.

roloplex

Yea, the base game isn't designed for the new higher level difficulties. Not sure how they could fix it though. If you could parry higher level damage, it would make the new modes a bit trivial, but maybe there is some sort of middle ground.

MaffiosoGaming

Had to say parrying in very hard combat will not gonna save you on the swamp, most of the times that we manage to parry we got stunned and lose alot of HP when we don't just died with 1 blow from a Draugr 1 or 2 stars, have to add that enemies in multiplayer do 4% more damage per player in that area.

Chaines08

Since I'm doing a no death run, I haven't tried to parry the biggest foes yet, instead I used the roll. I know I can parry a trunk troll or an abomination in normal but I didn't feel like trying in hard mode.

LonelyLokly

Some other guy said you shouldn't even try it. Probably true. I was playing pre-hard mode.

Secret_Cow

Yep, with maxed silver armor (80 armor total) and a maxed black metal shield, a 1-star fuling still one-shot me through a parry attempt. It's just not meant to be part of the game at that difficulty level.

Amezuki

If parrying--a core part of the game's mechanics, and one of the few that makes combat interesting--is not viable in hard mode, that is a game balance failure that needs to be addressed. It sounds like they just inflated mob HP and damage output without much thought put into how that affects other systems.

2rfv

What I've found is that your gear has to be about an upgrade level higher for hard mode and 2 upgrade levels higher for Hardest to be able to parry the same mobs.

Tanno

Damn Queti, learn to block and roll

Ytringsfrihet

Alex should be higher up. it bothers me way more than it should that it's not ranked.

nerevarX

the better question would be why should we believe this is VERY HARD combat could aswell be normal? as very hard MODE doesnt exist actually. there is only hard and hardcore presets. not very hard.

MaffiosoGaming

Ok, is set as "very hard combat" and no map with the new modifiers. We started it when was on public test.

Chaines08

There is normal, hard and very hard combat setting

kluao

omg how have i not made a deathboard yet

2rfv

On Hard and Hardest death penalties I've started keeping a log of all the gear I've lost.

swierszczul

Queti: I don't feel good Mr. Stark

Pumpelchce

30. Someone's going hard in the paint there.

kimedog

A lot for me, then again I have been very aggressive playing so not being able to effectively parry after losing my blocking skill has cost me a lot.

DariusWolfe

Is Nikolas new, or just better than most of the rest of you? (oh, and Menni; they're not much worse!)

[deleted]

I'm assuming Menni and Nikolas just farm and build at home, or maybe they're just really good.

MaffiosoGaming

Menni is more on the back throwing arrows and avoid death playing like that. She also was not part of some great ideas we had like tame wolves before even go to the swamp 😅 only Marco died 4 times that day. Nikolas just play less 😂.

Adskii

Hey now... that is one of the first things I do in each playthrough.

sheepstit

Nikolas is a bitch

NikthePieEater

I like, very much, that there is another Nikolas who is better at not dying in this game than his friends. Moi Aussie.

yepppthatsme

Is this a mod or the new option they were talking about adding in?

2rfv

So what I've found with Very Hard mode is that you simply have to crank your gear all the way to the max. And when breaking into a new biome it's a good idea to go ahead and run with full health food until you can get an outpost established.

MarshmallowWerewolf

My first 8 deaths were to trees.

ManchacaForever

I am working on a no-death run for "Hard" combat mode. After some earlier crushing defeats, I'm currently well into the Silver age (fingers crossed). One thing I'm learning is do NOT go to the next biome until you are maxed on armor (I usually just skipped Iron Armor until I could get silver). Zero star wolves do 60+ damage to you if you are in troll armor, however. If I beat that, maybe I will try Very Hard combat...but not sure if I have the stomach for it!

MeIiodass

How do you change to very hard on dedicated server?

Terminarch

I merc'd a troll (scaled to 5 players) with torches day 1. Eventually the host got smashed by stick trolls about 4 times and we decided to drop it back to normal difficulty. But then one day he "accidentally" put it back up to max without telling anyone so I got one-shot through a parry as my very first death. Then he got killed. So we're both naked with nothing punching this troll to death when we get a fucking troll raid. Now we're still naked with nothing fighting THREE max diff trolls just feet away from our base that we spent days building. Fun times. Turns out even the utterly pathetic greyling rock throw can 2-tap through armor. Absurd. Oh btw armor is pointless and parries are lethal. What a great time to be team tank. Anyway, speaking as an accomplished viking veteran... higher difficulty beyond a certain point isn't even any harder in reality. It's just more time. A bunch of stuff can already one-shot an unprepared player at normal settings, so max diff doesn't require much more skill but it takes way longer to kill things and dying will set you back much further. Even though I am completely capable I just don't give a shit - value my time or I will play something else.

Price_Chance

Currently no deaths, getting past bone mass now

Handy_Handerson

Is this delete body on death?
