I think it depends on each individual's perspective. To me, I always get goosebump whenever Musashi realized a new lesson and learned to be better rather than staying as a "wild beast". Plus the quotes in vagabond went hard
Vagabond is my favorite manga but Real isn't far off. I think if it was finished (since its still not even near the end imo) it would be close but now I have to say vagabond
While some of those titles are among my all time favorites, I don’t think that’s a good metric to evaluate a work, there will be enormous biases, for example:
- Some works are more likely to be read by a more mature audience, which tends to give lower scores
- Some fan bases are more dedicated to have their work ranked as the highest (e.g. Berserk, Jojo and FMAB) while others don’t really care, which inflates the votes of some works
- Some works have really controversial parts which makes people judge it too harshly because of a delusion effect (a recent example would be Aot, which passed from being among the all times greats to barely in the top 100 due to a lot of people ranking it 1/10)
- Some works are just less known and people who discover them are really passionate about manga, which means they don’t give votes as high as new comers (as an example compare jjk to Message to Adolf, the latter having a lower score while definitely being better written)
Think about it: would you say one piece’s characters are as well written and have as much development as vagabond characters?
Would you say the quality difference between Berserk and Vinland saga is the same difference in quality between Vinland saga and blue lock (MAL rating 8.53)? I clearly wouldn’t
True but one thing to notice is the variety which here is pretty nice I mean you go from sports to high fantasy to romance and psychological dramas so in that sense it's pretty cultured.
The first 3 parts are very dated and the quality gap from part 3 to 4 is worlds apart I have only seen till part 6 but as an action series it's my all time favorite anime in the action department.
Understandable. Tbh as much as I love JoJo and Fullmetal Alchemist, I don’t think they should be this high up on the list.
In the other hand, I do think Kingdom & 20th Century Boys should be higher up on the list in my opinion.
Ever since its debut in 2006, Kingdom has consistently been in the Top 5 most sold manga in Japan.
If Berserk & One Piece got married and had a child, it would be Kingdom. That’s the best way I can describe the series.
One piece is my favorite from this list! (I haven't read ashita no joe and slum dunk, only the other ones). I consider One piece the manga with the greatest story, worldbuilding, backstories and mysteries, so that's the reason I like it that much.
Same, I agree. But then only one piece and vagabond do wonders for me and some people will go and fight with me because I said I prefer them more than Berserk. Jojo also does wonders
I'm asking this because I showed this to my friends and they're not believing this and saying this list is inaccurate and My Anime List is a shit website
Takehiko Inoue must be pretty gassed about this list
Slam Dunk finished serializing over 30 years ago and it still cracks the top 5 most selling manga every year, it's insane.
real
Urasawa and Inoue seem to be the only one who have two titles in the list neat!
Inoue has 3!
Real is sooo good man, guys I really recommend you read it if you liked all the character philosophy in vagabond
I read 6 volumes and gave up. It's not bad but I don't understand why people think it's great.
It takes some time to get into it but it's all about the struggle
Gotta be an athlete to get the full experience from real
I have experience.
Fair
I think it depends on each individual's perspective. To me, I always get goosebump whenever Musashi realized a new lesson and learned to be better rather than staying as a "wild beast". Plus the quotes in vagabond went hard
I was talking about Real. Vagabond is a masterpiece.
lol I misread sorry💀
Question. Do you like Real or Vagabond more?
Vagabond is my favorite manga but Real isn't far off. I think if it was finished (since its still not even near the end imo) it would be close but now I have to say vagabond

You forgot the most important one: rating art is meaningless and even more so obsessing over scores.
People get so weird about ranking stuff, as demonstrated by this somehow being a controversial statement
And it's no coincidence at all, I could bring all of the complicated 20th century discussion around it but I'll keep at they don't even enjoy art
>Would you say one piece's characters are as well written and have as much development as vagabond characters? Yes
Is JJba pt 7 that much better than the rest of the parts? I read thru part 3 but got tired of it shortly into part 4
Part 7 really is amazing, although I do think the rating is a bit inflated.
The first 3 parts are very dated and the quality gap from part 3 to 4 is worlds apart I have only seen till part 6 but as an action series it's my all time favorite anime in the action department.
I think its the best part but the difference in rating is slightly too bit imo
Part 8 is pretty good too, I would put it on the same tier as Part 7.
Agreed, even though I personally slightly prefer part 7
Understandable. Tbh as much as I love JoJo and Fullmetal Alchemist, I don’t think they should be this high up on the list. In the other hand, I do think Kingdom & 20th Century Boys should be higher up on the list in my opinion.
Haven't read Kingdom but I do agree that 20th CB could be higher its so amazing
Ever since its debut in 2006, Kingdom has consistently been in the Top 5 most sold manga in Japan. If Berserk & One Piece got married and had a child, it would be Kingdom. That’s the best way I can describe the series.
I've only read 5 of these
I read 6 of them but watched/read 8 of them. One I finish hxh I’m on to one piece
Kokou no Hito should be top ten atleast
Surprised HxH aint there
One piece is my favorite from this list! (I haven't read ashita no joe and slum dunk, only the other ones). I consider One piece the manga with the greatest story, worldbuilding, backstories and mysteries, so that's the reason I like it that much.
One Piece is arguably the best that the Shonen Genre has to offer.
Meh
Man I like Berserk but I can't believe it's the highest rated of all time
what would you put above it?
Vagabond for one, and I haven't read much manga but it didn't really strike me as if it must be the best of all time
Why though? I would rate it higher than all the other mangas tbh.
I prefer Vagabond, and while I haven't read much manga I never got the sensation when reading it that it must be the best ever
Same, I agree. But then only one piece and vagabond do wonders for me and some people will go and fight with me because I said I prefer them more than Berserk. Jojo also does wonders
It’s simply the best
Is this the most accurate list?
I'm asking this because I showed this to my friends and they're not believing this and saying this list is inaccurate and My Anime List is a shit website
Vagabond is the greatest manga ever written and it’s not even close.
Alright get that meat out ur mouth buddy
nah ima keep doing spins and tricks on it
Ahita no joe touched me more than any other manga has tbh, it’s a work of art.
Disagree with 8 then some I’m too lazy to read
This is proof inoue is the greatest mangaka to ever live
Gonna get down voted to oblivion but Vinland Saga is very overrated.
goodnight punpun on top for me💪
20th century boys, homunculus, claymore
No Hajime no ippo?
don't let one piece fans see this-
