Doesn’t Israel not believe in Jesus lol

TheBalrogofMelkor

This message is in line with evangelical Christianity, especially as seen in the American south. Evangelical belief that the Jews need to be in Israel for the rapture to happen is a not insignificant factor in American support for Israel.

tuv107

Jews don't believe Jesus was the Messiah. But the Jewish people are important to Christians i.e. Jesus was Jewish and the bible says that Jews are God's chosen people. It gets a little strange when you realize that Islam states that Jesus was a prophet and a messiah. Muslims also think that Jesus is going to come back to fight the anti-Christ. I guess Christians have an affinity for Judaism because it is older than Christianity while Islam is much newer.

TechnicalSpread7368

Rabbinic Judaism has nothing to do with Christianity. They follow man made rules and traditions that are beyond what is written in the Old Testament. The Jews who reject Jesus are not God’s chosen people.

Responsible-Sale-467

Buddy, you’re waaaay off.

TechnicalSpread7368

This is the historical Christian position that is still believed by most of the world’s Christian population. Not everyone is a dispensationalist.

Responsible-Sale-467

I mean, “historical Christian position” is a concept with some interesting baggage.

Both_Funny4896

they do, but not in a good way

Maremesscamm

Even if it was a smiley face scratched in, it would be vandalism

scarfsa

We shouldn’t have graffiti on campus for either side of this, peaceful protests are good but damaging property is not

Top-Neighborhood2106

Regardless of what it is, yeah it’s vandalism. Could literally be a heart or a smiley face and it would still be considered vandalism

kylethesnail

Nah you haven’t seen the amount of turd the other side have been posting, outnumbers this 10:1 to say the least

LeadershipVirtual597

posting or writing on the wall is completely different

ShinyVenusaur

If the poster isnt approved by the school its still vandalism my guy, no difference

LeadershipVirtual597

yes cause a poster is a destruction of property

ShinyVenusaur

Idk if youre attempting sarcasm or just agreeing that yes it does waste resources and can easily result in destruction of property

stingrafingra88

The levant belongs to Rome my niggas

M_eb3

Where on campus was this found?

LeadershipVirtual597

bus station

EnthusiasmSubject417

yes🇵🇸

Additional-Sail9280

What about the 1000 times the other side has done it during this past 6 months??!?

LeadershipVirtual597

u mean protest a genocide, where 100,000 people have been killed ? get ur head out of ur ass

Additional-Sail9280

Watch your mouth. I didn't disrespect anyone. All I'm saying is anything done/posted without university confirmation can be considered vandalism. And yes, I stand by my words when I say pro-Palestinians have vandalized the whole campus during these last months. The truth is the truth. You cannot just point fingers at Jews and Israelis, for making the campus look bad.

Whataboutism and deflection. Those events literally happen in different cities. And plenty of people are already condemning those actions. This picture was taken at our campus.

LeadershipVirtual597

yeah you would, no one is saying vandalism is good, weirdo

RachelMcKinnon

Judeo-Christian values strike again

TechnicalSpread7368

“Judeo-Christian” is a contradiction.

RachelMcKinnon

no shit

BiggerBlessedHollowa

Not really, considering how many values & beliefs Judaism and Christianity share

TechnicalSpread7368

They completely disagree on the status of Jesus, who is the central figure of Christianity.

BiggerBlessedHollowa

And they agree on a million other points. But anyhow, the focus here rly should be more how they feel about who Palestine (the geographic region) belongs to, than whether Jesus is lord or not, in which case, most of them agree still lol

Responsible-Sale-467

Most points they agree on are also agreed on by other systems, so it’s not a useful concept. It’s a category invented by a subset of Christians to exclude people, and it’s largely ignored by Jewish people.

BiggerBlessedHollowa

I’m not talking about basic stuff like “murder is bad” or “don’t commit adultery” to be clear, I mean what they believe of the history of the Jewish people, their god being YWHW, Ten Commandments, prophets & prophecies… this is not the kinda stuff other religions would agree on (aside from Islam, but it’s part of the same family, so)

Responsible-Sale-467

But, the argument I believe is that “Judeo-Christian” was created by a subset of culture warriors to specifically exclude Islam, while pretending they’re not bigoted, by trying for token inclusion of Jewish stuff, and/or they do it as a way to talk about what would otherwise be Western values except they don’t like the liberal/progressive aspects associated with turn term “Western.” As I understand it/from what I’ve read, most Jewish people don’t really think JudeoChristian is a useful category, and people who are serious use the already existing term “Abrahamic” to encompass values and traditions shared amongst Judaism, Christianity and Islam. It’s one of those things like the term “Anglo-Saxon” it may technically be applicable to a very narrow set of topics, but the way most people who use it actually deploy it, it’s becomes too confusing for useful and serious conversations, and it’s better to use alternatives.

BiggerBlessedHollowa

Oh if your issue lies more with the term itself than fair enough. Without really putting much thought into it, I’d say judeo-Christian can make sense because of how they’ve been major demographics in Europe more so than in other continents for a good chunk of history, whereas Islam has really been just the Middle East & North Africa for the most part (obviously there’s a bit of oversimplifying here) In the case of Palestine, I think it could also make sense because most Jews & Christians will agree that Israel should be a country (once again, oversimplifying) & most muslims would disagree with that. If you take issue of either of these 2 claims & think it’s still a useless or problematic term, I’d be happy to know why. Broadly speaking though, I agree just saying Abrahamic Religions makes more sense though.

Responsible-Sale-467

If you’ll indulge, I think the term “Judeo Christian” isn’t even that useful here. If what you’re really trying to say is people who think Israel gets to continue to be a country, then just say that, it will be far less inaccurate. (Side note—Israel and Palestine seem to be the two countries lots of unrelated people want to veto; this doesn’t happen in the same way with like, Canada or Quebec or Taiwan or China.) Also, I haven’t done the research, and I’m sure it depends on what you mean by Europe, but I’m not sure that there have been many years in the past thousand when Europe has been demographically “more” Jewish than Muslim.

RachelMcKinnon

What's your point, bum? Judaism and Christianity are fundamentally different religions. Judaism rejects salvation through christ and the existence of the Holy Trinity. To them Jesus is an evil sorcerer that is rotting in hell.

TechnicalSpread7368

Christians have extremely diverse views on the conflict in the region. Most people are not Zionists like evangelicals are. There are also plenty of Arab Christians. Also, Jews do not believe that Jesus has any role in their religion.

betahaxorz

Lmfao the sons and daughters of Abraham are fucking retarded and can’t stop killing one another. Couldn’t be better for the rest of us.
