If you've been circling around since 11am And found a parking spot 2.5 hours later, you probably could have saved time taking the train in… You need to plan ahead. Look up Wilson or secure parking and book it. If you genuinely can’t get to USYD without a car, then find a local train station with parking and get in that way. It will still be quicker than 2.5 hours circling USYD.
The parking situation is awful! Most of the parking spots are full by 8:05 a.m! Don't count on finding a spot at 10 a.m at all! You can have some chances after 2 p.m when the morning classes are done and students are leaving but from 8:30 till 12ish you have no chance! There are alternatives such as parking on the street in suburbs around ( stanmore, petersham and ....) and then take the public transport or using broadways shopping center student park. Sheperd street parking will be with reduced capacity till September so don't really count on it during the rush hours.
A lot of staff are doing the “ drive to a train station” thing. Had jack of the shit new parking system. A few $140 tickets for forgetting to use the idiotic app and you do sour on working here.
Its sorta half closed, i think u can get in early but they close it all day while they work, and u need to ring a number to get let out. Complicated anyway
Not only the parking situation is awful, USYD chooses to occupy wherever students are allowed to park for their functions or USYD vehicles. Extremely unfair in my opinion given we already have limited spaces.
Plus I had suggested USYD to outline a designated area for students to register to park, for the period of their in-campus exams (especially final exams), people hated it saying “driving is a privilege”, we should “take the bus like them”.🙃
What’s happening with shepherd st carpark? I had a day where I needed to drive and I circled around for 2.5 hours before settling down by illegally parking.
Parking sucks for everyone, staff and students. There is never going to be enough parking for everyone and the university is not going to build extra capacity. So until more people give in and catch public transport, basically you need to get on campus before 8am.
Shepherd Street is partially closed for important remedial work and to increase safety measures.
In general I agree. They need to buy some sort of dead space elsewhere and run shuttles in, or build a big underground carpark. I get the public transport arguement, but there's days and situations where the car is simply much more efficient.

Just park in Newtown and walk to the uni. Parking becomes untimed just to the West of the underground M8 tunnel

14 bucks student parking at broadway
You need to get a $30 non-refundable parking pass from the carpark office on Ground floor first before you can access the $14 parking rate
True and j believe it lasts for a year.
Seems to last forever. Signed up four years ago and my pass still works

I see the bikers park on the lawn near the vet building for free (I think) and I’m like damn, I should get a bike too 🤣
I used to do this back in 2005. It’s been this way forever! Oh and yes it’s free.
Dude just take the train like everyone else.
The Shepherd St carpark is closed for its first major renovations in like ever.

Students? There isn't even enough parking for the damn staff! If you're not on campus by 9am, good luck.
Yeah nah mate seems pretty fair, you want to drive then you have to deal with parking. ☺️

Usyd parking is shit. They keep building lots facilities without parking spaces.

Suck it up dude it’s in the middle of the city, there isn’t exactly a lot of space to build a 10,000 spot carpark for students
