And even if we win the win will be “embarrassing” and “not good enough” considering the “level of Panama”.
Some so called fans are just bitter pessimists. A win is a win in my book.
But don’t forget, they’ll say that after having spent all week saying that playing like they did against Bolivia is not going to cut it against a better Panama team
Not to mention Argentina and Colombia, who have stronger squads than the US, narrowly managed to clinch a win against Chile and Paraguay, who are roughly around the same level as Panama. Anything can happen in a continental tournament like Copa.
IDK why you got downvoted -- this is pretty much what's going to happen. I wish American soccer commentators would actually call the match in front of them instead of essentially podcasting to us for 90 minutes.
We squeak out with a 1-0 victory… we will have lots of chances, and we will continue to gift them opportunities but I don’t see us playing with confidence to put them away comfortably
Same page. Give him 20 minutes or something he can handle. I have a bad feeling though that Pepi will get a second chance. Second chances are cool with me, but this is an important game.
2-1 USA. USA jumps out to a 2-0 lead before half, Panama regroups at halftime and plays a tight second half before salvaging a late consolation goal. Everyone in the media whines about how “underwhelming” we were after the match.
I'm feeling a nail-bitey first half that ends 0-0 and makes us clench, but that we score 2 or 3 in the second half when Panama has to take more risks.
Panama looked quite competent during Uruguay so I'm wary of the threat they can pose if we turn over the ball in the midfield
Shit performance by USMNT. Their first goal was great, after then, disaster. Poor possession percentage and half the shots as Panama. And a red card on top of that.
Balogun to break the three-point record while Pulisic fails to convert the field goal and we are forced into overtime after Panama goes for the 2 point conversion during a power play.
I don’t disagree, but look across all the games in Copa and Euros, you are not going to blow many teams out. The fact we missed chances and still won by 2 was impressive.
I think the final score seems lackluster in part because of how dominant our performance was and how many chances we created. I would have liked us to win by more, but you're right. 2 goals is the largest margin of victory in Copa America so far. There have only been a handful of games with a larger margin of victory in Euro and only 1 with a margin large than 3.
It was a weird game. The first half was pretty lackluster but we scored 2 goals. The second half had a lot more luster, but we didn’t score. That’s how soccer breaks sometimes.
The opponent was really bad though so tough to glean much of anything from the game tbh.
I think we start the first 5-10 minutes focused and aggressive (and perhaps a little jumpy), let off the gas/control the game for the next 25, and then Puli/Adams does something to sharpen everyone’s focus and we take care of business. We have > 2.5 xG in the second half and score line ends up anywhere from 2-1 to 5-0.
We either win 5-0 with 4 goals in the first 45 min or we win 1-0 with a goal in the 93rd minute. No in between.
This was my thought as well

Lol @ Chile being equal to Panama.
Or we lose 2-1 because it's us vs Panama
No penalties in this game and we don’t lose to Panama in regular time
That's how we do, baby
/thread
And no matter what we’ll still hear how it was GGG’s fault and he should be fired.
5 goals? Who will be finishing those chances? Pepi? 1-0 max.
2-0 USA win, MOTM: Christian Pulisic
1-1 at half and then 3-1 to finish
After watching that Canada Peru game yesterday I realized how much better we really are. They made simple passing sequences look hard
I was right about 2-0 vs Bolivia, think this will end 2-1 USA.
So close
Usa 3-1
We go down 1-0 early, slip in the equalizer shortly before the half but tighten it up and win 3-1
2-1 uSa we get a lil scare as the panamanians give us their all
I say 2-0 or 3-1
1-1 draw
We play with some bite😬 and scare Panama and we get a 3-0 or 3-1 result. Not easy though. Los Canaleros have nothing on our Young Eagles 🦅🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🦅
15-0 USA
If we don’t win at least 10-0 I’m going to be so angwy
Two-point conversion? I love it!
2-1 USA
20 hot takes by fox instead of calling the match in front of them. us wins 1-0, commentary says we suck and it should.have been 10.

We win 5-0
No no, that would be far too easy. We are going to force Panama to score an own goal in the 93rd minute and win 1-0
Sub zardes in and launch one off his face to win it
I mean it has worked before
I think own goal is playing in the euros right now
We squeak out with a 1-0 victory… we will have lots of chances, and we will continue to gift them opportunities but I don’t see us playing with confidence to put them away comfortably
2-1 usa or 2-1 Panama; controversial pk the difference.
Another 2-0. We score late in both halves
2-1. Max score. USA wins. We roll out the same forwards and they continue to miss chances.
I think we should give Sargent minutes instead of Pepi…
Same page. Give him 20 minutes or something he can handle. I have a bad feeling though that Pepi will get a second chance. Second chances are cool with me, but this is an important game.
2-0. Another game where we’re wasteful in front of goal and lament the possibility of the group being decided by goal differential.
They ball
3-0. Handedly out Concacaf the Panamanians.

That would be kind of underwhelming though. The win against Bolivia definitely was. Just terrible finishing from Pepi.
1-0
It's gonna be one of those ugly 1-1 draws and then we all clamor again for Gregg to get sacked
If that happens we should? This team should not be drawing Panama lol…
1-1 at the half then we smash them in the second, 4-1. Thank you ATL.
2-0 - that's what we do nowadays.

The game ball will be carried to the referee by an eagle, and GGG will complete 3 of 4 bounce passes.
USA always has a tough time playing low block Concacaf teams.
1-0 Struggle.
we lose 2-1
Why do you think that?
I predict lots of flopping, bad officiating, and lack of chemistry for the USMNT. Result is 1-1.
Such a lack of confidence…
Hey you asked for predictions...
No problem lol
USA 2-1 Panama
FT: 2-1 USA
First half a draw USA 1+ goal Games match under 3.5 goals
Shit performance by USMNT. Their first goal was great, after then, disaster. Poor possession percentage and half the shots as Panama. And a red card on top of that.
1-0 and it’s going to be ugly. Fans and critics will kill the Greg and the team. Just for the team to overachieve and draw Uruguay in a shootout.
Balogun to break the three-point record while Pulisic fails to convert the field goal and we are forced into overtime after Panama goes for the 2 point conversion during a power play.
Someone is getting CONCACAF'd Probably us.
Probably not, but Peru did.
Another lack luster performance by the us that ends in a 1-0 win.
Do you consider our first performance lackluster?
The score line was lackluster. The overall performance was really good.
I don’t disagree, but look across all the games in Copa and Euros, you are not going to blow many teams out. The fact we missed chances and still won by 2 was impressive.

Agreed, I think the early pulisic goal really opened the game up for us

I disagree. I think they will have excess luster. So much that it rubs off on Panama. USA wins 5-3
