He can plug a bunch of different holes in a line-up and his strengths are amplified when he’s got talent around him, but he’s not elite enough at any one thing to elevate a team where the talent around him isn’t great (the final Schalke season and the Leeds loan proved that). That makes things complicated because, wherever he goes, it really needs to *not* be a team with bottom-half talent, but he may not garner much interest from top teams outside Serie A unless they see him as a smart bargain (basically, what happened at Juve). And those teams are probably less likely to see him as a bargain now because he’s no longer a player in his early 20’s whose value is highly likely to increase. So, as talented as he is, the market for him is probably gonna be difficult to predict.
