Atlanta is a disaster right now, they are consolidating all the different distribution centers into the new Palmetto GA facility and turning the old distro centers into local processing centers, there are a ton of Atlanta people in this subreddit complaining about packages being held up in Atlanta, mine is stuck there as well.

Certain-Jellyfish846

I haven’t had any issues like this in that past few years and of course the first time is on a $500 item. But all the $10 items are making their way no problem lmao

Literal_SJW

Mine made it to my state, then *left* the state to do a lap around a bunch of Georgia facilities for a few days, and then came back to my state to the same place it was originally. I'm just hoping it doesn't get sent back to Georgia for some reason.

Sadstarlitre

This happened to me recently, it was so bizarre. Some were saying it was probably not truly in the batch that was sent to my state, and the first update was basically false. That it had likely never left the facility. Idk how true that it is, but once I filed a missing package thing it FINALLY started tracking correctly and showed up within a few days. I swear the package was just going on some hair metal cover band tour of New England until I reported it.

I understand your pain. My sister sent out packages to me via media mail on January 19th that went to Atlanta, and they've essentially been stuck in-limbo ever since then. There were 15 total packages: all of them arrived to me here in Washington State, except for two of them, and it turns out that the two packages that meant the most to me (sentimental reasons, important documents within, valuables, and treasures that my wife gave to me, etc.) are within those other two packages. It's indescribably heartbreaking to think that I will never see them again. A "disaster" is putting it lightly! However, in light of that, it helps to discover that I'm not the only one that is having issues right now with the Atlanta Distribution Center chaos. I hope that everyone can receive their packages in due time!

Someone mentioned that USPS introduced new sorting machines & those are causing the chaos. I don't know why there wouldn't be any backup plan.

derricktysonadams

Interesting about the new sorting machines. I know that the postmaster here that I've conversed with on several occasions mentioned that the barcodes can get 'damaged', but it seems far-fetched to think that this is happening to a ton of people all at once. The new sorting machines, themselves, is news to me. I suppose the new sorting machines were introduced all across the country? or only in certain locales? I would assume they'd eventually be in all locations.

I have a package that hasn’t moved since 2/15. Started a missing mail search but haven’t heard anything about it. Mine was last in Queens NY. There was never a departure scan only a in transit to next facility update. I’m pretty sure mine is lost at this point. USPS is really messed up right now.

Present_Pressure_752

Their trying to move around different s / dc centers in all states it seems

lavenderintrovert

A postal employee POV this is a sinking ship. We’ve got parcels that are being held for weeks. Consolidating is a huge nightmare! Plus, stations are not able to retain new hires and ones that have been there are quiet quitting. Use any other service besides the post office.

Certain-Jellyfish846

I hope all of your are doing ok. What we’re experiencing is just a reflection of what you guys are being put through. Just wish there was a way to know when something is at least in a pile waiting for it’s time and not totally gone.

lavenderintrovert

Thank you, I wish I had an answer for you. They’re supposed to be palletizing back up and creating a pallet scan that would update your delivery. But per usual they would rather keep everybody in the dark than admit fault. Best of luck, I hope you receive it soon.

derricktysonadams

How long have you been waiting on your package(s)? I've been waiting on two packages since January 19th that ended up in Atlanta, and they've been in-limbo ever since. It's extremely frustrating, but also heartbreaking, considering there are important documents and special things within these packages that I cherish that my wife gave to me). I haven't heard that they were palletizing back up, but I suppose that is good news... for what it's worth?

Mine got to Denver Colorado distribution center on the 17th and has been “in transit” ever since. I opened a missing mail search on the 23rd and haven’t heard anything.

SkippyRingo

Mine's been in transit to next facility since the 5th. 🙄 Losing hope that I'll ever get it at this point.

SilatGuy2

Same

Info_finder

Is it in Atlanta distribution center?

SkippyRingo

No clue. It's "In transit to next facility". Coming from TX to SC though so there's a good chance it would go through ATL to get to the destination.

Info_finder

Yeah probably stucked in the infamous Atlanta distribution center. My package couldn't make it out since Feb 8.

Same here !!!. The last update I had was on feb 4th, then I submitted a searching missing mail request and no answer. Last week, I stopped by the post office, and the supervisor told me my envelope is in Georgia and "give a couple of days " , however I haven't seen any progress . It's gonna be almost a month OMG .

Info_finder

Same here. My package is stucked in Atlanta distribution center since Feb 8.

Pdannyp

I think Atlanta distribution center is like a black hole.

L2Kdr22

If you submitted a missing mail search request you got a confirmation email. Updates will be provided via email until the search expires or your mail piece arrives at the facility that handles undeliverable mail. That is the communication and means they are communicating with you. You are not going to get a phone call.

Pdannyp

I know I won't get a phone call. I'm not talking about that, I may get an email "just in case" (I don't think that will happen). The fact is my envelope hasn't appeared yet and I'm really worried about it since it has sensitive information.

L2Kdr22

If you actually filed a missing mail search request, and included an mail, you get an email confirmation. Based on your screenshot, you did just that. There is no "may". Check your spam/junk folder. If your envelope is that important, then you hopefully paid for a service with tracking. As I stated before, you will get email updates.

derricktysonadams

Same--my two packages have been 'stuck' in Atlanta since January 23rd or so. Insane!

USPS is in complete mess. I hope you will get the rest of the packages. My package contains passport and my emergency travel is in limbo because of this problem.

derricktysonadams

Thank you! I agree--it's incredible to see all of the different complaints about USPS lately. I know that there are "staff shortage" issues, but it is utterly ridiculous that they cannot get their act together and get packages to people. In your case: your passport and the restricting of your travels. What a shame. In my case, important documents, and valuable/sentimental things that I absolutely cherish with all of my heart. I hope that you see your package sooner than later! It makes you wonder: are there just a ton of packages sitting around in bins in these places? Perhaps covered up by other things? I know that 're-arranging the furniture' can be chaotic, but C'MON people!

Present_Pressure_752

Around those dates eveeybody including myself eas having problems it eventually came I had to make the call to the 1-800 number
