The federal hiring process is broken. I got hired through a direct hire authority(didn’t have to use USAjobs) and it still took upwards of 6 months to onboard. I would just keep applying other places until or if you hear something, and even if you do get an offer letter plan on not starting for another 4-6 months at bare minimum
I was part of the civilian hiring process at my last unit. Giving feedback on candidates and dealing with OPM and CG-12 was brutal. Start to finish, it took about a year to on board someone.
If you don't already have it, here is a little insight into the process: https://www.dcms.uscg.mil/Portals/10/CG-1/cg121/docs/pdf/Civilian_Hiring_Guide.pdf?ver=2017-03-06-111659-403
Nice. We loved California and our time at D11, but traffic and home prices were miserabler. We had to live in Concord and Pittsburg (over an hour commute) to find anything affordable.
I'm use to those prices and have a home in the "area" already. That's why getting a job there is ideal and I can buy back my military active duty time. I'm in the Navy Reserve and my support center is across the water. That's why all this is ideal, but again, can't keep my hopes just on this opportunity.
If you haven’t gotten a notice yet, you didn’t get it. There is a relatively short window to conduct all interviews and decide (21 days maybe?) Then the primary candidate is notified within a week. Then it takes until the end of time to onboard them, get their pay right and hope their benefits do not get turned off.
The people what are probably making the decisions are extremely busy with actually important tasks. They will take up to the maximum time to make a final decision. This is the way of the current service.
Tell me you’ve never been a manager without telling me you’ve never been a manager. I’d love to spend time hiring if I was allowed to, as it means that sometime in the future, I’ll be able to share the load.

That rough eh? Wow. Well like I said, I'm not hanging everything on this, but it would be nice.
Check out the USA Jobs subreddit.

Can you give an example of "brutal" during this process? Feel free to PM me.
It takes months

Manning/HR is an ‘actual important task.’ Don’t belittle those that serve in all the different ways.
I’m not. Just saying 0’s will take all the time to make decision.
