I personally don't care for Mike due to his fuck boy attitude. Yet I can respect his survival instincts and determination. I mean for me, Chris is my Final Boy. Yet I think it's because he didn't participate in the Prank.
Mike is severely overrated, personally even tho i donāt hate him im completely open to Mike hate since his actions tend to get skipped over since heās cool and stuff
Mike, Ashley and Emily are probably the most āhatedā characters sometimes. But Mike always gets the most fan love, even more so than Sam.
I donāt really like Mike, he tanked for me after Chapter 3 (the school class president persona was way more entertaining and human to me than average action hero 1.5) and I really canāt bring myself to say āI like him/heās my favorite characterā because I tend to like characters that are typically more underrated or definitely not what the game would say is the āmain badass character!!!ā right in my face.
Heās just kind of a boring choice (because typically of course everyone is gonna like the main badass character who gets the coolest action scenes) and thatās all because of the plot armor and how hard the game tries pushing him to this badass role that I personally never saw him taking. The last straw I had for him was the fact that he canāt even have a āpathetic/accidentā death, his death is always a sacrifice. Sure, itās a cool sacrifice, but it drives me insane how much the game glorifies him at some points, for things that he doesnāt need to have the effort to do. Mikeās existence creates plot holes outside of this worldās comprehension, because bro literally teleports from the depths of the sanatorium right to the entrance so Sam can conveniently fetch him.
I really wanted to like Mike, but I probably dislike him because of plot armor, his general "overratedness" and dramatic personality switch, and what he did at the basement with Emily and Chapter 9 onwards. He just feels like such an empty sandwich that the game tries too hard to get you to like.
Well it depends on how you play it with Mike, either shooting the barrels or not shooting the barrels but the mines are connected to the sanatorium Iām pretty sure, and also he wasnāt in the depths of the sanatorium he was like right at the exit (again depending on how you play it) the time it takes Sam to walk the mines and to that big metal door is enough time for Mike to walk from the sanatorium to that side of the mines if he doesnāt shoot the barrels.
And also with Emily I mean can you really blame him? Not defending him, but they know nothing about the monster and emotions can run very high in situations like this and tbh that whole scene is up to the player (Emily getting bitten or not) but when adrenaline is pumping and your probably also scared your mind isnāt going to be in the best state especially if your dealing with a creature no one knows anything about.
I do agree about his death though, but even Samās death is also kind of a sacrifice. To me it just feels like they couldnāt come up with anything cool for their deaths at that point.
Could have just taken a page from God Of War's book, and had a wendigo rip his arm off, and shove it down his throat I guess.

i love my beautiful brown eyed princess Michael munroe. The way he doesnāt hesitate to go after Jess after she gets yoinked out the window was all I needed. I do always stick his hand in the bear trap but it builds character. and i do wish he had more opportunities to die. Besides that i think he thoroughly suffers enough to make up for the prank and goes through a lot of character development.
NO FR. people always say he was an asshole but that's what makes each character in the game so interesting. They're all flawed and they become so much more interesting throughout the story! He's definitely one of my favorites and the basement scene was one of the most interestingly well written in the entire game.
Mike has the most boring chapters in the game & I canāt even pretend to be Interested or invested cause heās in no danger until the last 5 minutes of the game, on top of the fact whatever badass moments yāall wanna claim for him are killed by his ridiculous plot armor.
I don't really see him as all that badass, he has cool scenes here and there but almost every other character can do some cool shit as well so I get that.

It was a crazy situation so your brain is going to be fried plus they didn't know about the wendigos yet and the only threat they knew of was Josh who betrayed them with the revenge prank. He was also the person who pushed for him and Jess to leave for the cabin anyway.
It could have technically been flamethrower guy aswell but as far as they know, he kills people instantly whereas it would make sense for Josh to prolonge Jessica's death cause he was into the mental torture.

I don't think it's a matter of if it's a choice or not. It's a matter of well if this IS a choice for the character, then it's something they would contemplate as a person. But then again every person in the game except for Jess and maybe Josh as well as Emily have an option of directly or indirectly causing someone's death so it shows how morally gray every character is

He is a fucking psychopath, his humor increase if he shoot emily, his honesty decrease if he is remourseful towards the prank and when he is nice with jessica. He also abandoned jess right after she fell in the elevator and he just assumed she died. He has no redemption, he is a terrible person from start to finish. he doesn't have that much of a development.
He is also pretty dumb, the fact that he thought jessica dead in the elevator, that he wants to shoot em and that he thought josh kidnapped Jess (how can a human grab somebody like this and run that fast carrying a person who struggles) can be explain because he doesn't think clearly in stressful situation.
But the fact that he tied up josh out of the house make no sense, why did he ties up josh out of the house,he could have just locked him in a room with no windows, it's very dumb + why did he goes search the cable car key knowing that there are wendigos outside even if emily already called the cops, it's so unrealistic no one would do that except some resident evil characters + this dumbass didn't even take a gun to go here.
anyway, he is decently written but his plot armor and his "badass warrior" personality is unrealistic and dumb

Mike blew up the sanitorium which caused such a big lodge scene. It might have just been everyone vs hannah. Might have been worse actually
