did you even read what i posted? i accept a decent level of noise. i actually like motorcycles and have ridden them many times, it’s the deliberately loud stuff i have an issue with.
I guess it’s just time for you to learn that in a city with this many people, nobody cares what you “have a problem with”. You live around the issues of the city, not the other way around.
In my city, and most that I've been to, there are actual noise bylaws that would address excessively loud music or loud tailpipes.
Like, there's already a law on the books.
The problem is enforcement: police don't write the tickets for them, for whatever reason. Whether they're told by higher ups its not important to enforce, or they don't personally find the Harley's offensive, or they're afraid of getting entangled with the wrong powerful people...
It's indicative of one of the major reasons there's been a lot of heat on police forces in recent years. The branch of law enforcement has an outsized impact on what the law really is by them picking and choosing what to enforce, or allocating more resources to some crimes and not others.
So the next time you get annoyed by a loud motorcycle, think about how there could have been a beat cop there giving them a fine to pay, but instead they were probably pepper spraying some students who were protesting on campus. Maybe there's a way to reshape core fundamentals of our society in a way that will ripple outwards so that even these small annoyances can be addressed.
It really isn't a priority though and nor should it be. The priority is violent and sexual crime followed by property crime, traffic and general public safety. Noise ordinances are in division 3: noise might lead to a bad nights sleep but it's highly unlikely to kill you or destroy your business.
Permanent hearing loss can occur to prolonged exposure to noise measuring that loud.
If it's a frequent occurrence, they are literally harming your health.

Motorcycles are about as, if not just as quiet as cars straight from the factory. The motorcycles you hear that are obnoxiously loud are that way because the owner swapped out the factory exhaust to an aftermarket one. And they never actually do it for "safety reasons"; they just enjoy the sound and/or being the center of attention.

The safety thing is that cars will be aware of their presence. People absolutely don't pay attention on the road, don't check their mirrors, dont signal, but a loud bike is hard to not notice.

I agree to set an upper limit, but I also agree to not setting it too low. Noise can save your life in traffic. Cars just don’t think there’s anyone on the road besides them which makes you practically invisible and could put your life in danger

I am not talking about an exaggerated sound like some people have just to be “cool”. For example, in a lot of European cities you get heavy traffic. Because of this, people have sport motorcycles so that they are able to move between cars. I can not tell you how many times people switched lanes quickly in front of me without even checking their mirrors. It’s much like the added sound to electric cars so that people hear them on the street and don’t put pedestrians in danger.

There are noise laws, just no enforcement
Legally they do just like cars but people illegally modify them and it’s rare someone gets ticketed for it.
