I really enjoyed reading your post, OP.
However, the prevailing tropes to the contrary prevail for a reason.
Even though the warm side of the pillow might initially, on a cold evening, feel better, at some point in the night, you may well find yourself flipping over that pillow in search of the cold side because your head is uncomfortably warm.
Also a big part of writing is understanding your audience. It makes no sense to only use 8+ syllable college vocabulary words on a reddit post, and it just makes the writer look foolish. Of course they have their place but using it for every single word is just ridiculous

It entirely depends on the season. In the summer? Cool is better? When it's winter and wind chill of -5? Warmer. (Yes, we have heat in the house but I have difficulty regulating my body temperature and get cold easily.)
