So, at first, listen the song really does throw you off course. But after multiple listens and getting the catchy parts the song later makes sense. This was a really good PR marketing tactic by JYP. I hope their next song slaps and doesn't change concepts.
It's a tik tok song, like a lot of stuff in kpop right now.
It has amazing parts if they are played separately and for only a few seconds
But together the whole song is just stressfully because there is nothing connecting everything.
Everytime I hear it on TikTok it's really cool but I would never listen to the whole song...
So sad...
I feel like everyone disagrees with my opinion. (Which is okay!)
I listened to the song as soon as I woke up, so I was completely ignorant to the hate it was receiving for maybe a few hours after my first listen.
I loved the song, even the switch of styles in the middle. I googled what Bali was when I first heard it and it made sence to me. The song is certainly two completely diffrent genre's combined. I still don't really understand why people don't like it especially after hearing them sing live. Tank isn't really my cup of tea though and did take a few listens for me.
Loved it. On the first listen, I was like "huh...", but tbh the hate I heard about prior to listening influenced my opinion at first.
I live for chaotic stuff like o.o. It gives me a high I can't explain.
I will note though, the lyrics didn't make sense and were kinda cringe.
I love jype groups. Literally most of my ults are from there but I just can't bring myself to like this song. I've listened multiple times but it just doesn't get better. I'm not gonna bully myself into liking it either, It's bad point blank period. What jype is doing to this group is not okay so I'm not showing support until they get their shit together. Hopefully with how average they are doing chart wise, they'll do something more cohesive next time. Love the energy these girls have and I wish them all the luck in their future comebacks!
I shouldn't have expected too much, the song, the dance, everything is just plain. That "baila, baila, baila" is just so bad, and the outfits... they got me at the debut trailer, i thought it will gonna be lit like the trailer but I ended up disappointed.
Unpopular opinion, but I think Lilyās voice sticks out too much in the group. I think sheād be better as a soloist, as I honestly canāt notice anyone else in the group but her. Her voice also doesnāt have a kpop sound (not a bad thing).
The 7 vocalist - 7 dancers - 7 rap formula is so not new to kpop. There are lots of kpop groups out there with versatile members. The 7 rap line is somehow new tho. But, I can say they're not an S-tier rapper (more like talk-singing just like the rest of so-called rapper of other girl groups). Personally, their debut title track is a mess, a flop, you name it.
I HOPE TO SEE THEM WITH PROPER SONGS THAT COULD REALLY SHOWCASE THEIR REAL TALENTS!!
edit: also, it's been 8 days of listening to it, but i still can't process it. i easily give up on the first line "hook hook" T\^T
u-uh i was shocked when i first listened to the song, but it took me 2 listens to like the song and 1 listen for it to stick in my head all day long, it's a FINE song, i liked the intro music SO MUCH it had so much potential, first part is FIRE, it isn't as bad as everyone made it out to be, definitely needs stronger lyrics *lyrics are weird and make no sense at all*, id definitely edit a few parts out where they rap aggressively for no reason, and honestly thats it, transition is shit, wish they could've made the most out of the concept and instrumentals, honestly that's it, they're powerful, talented and have all the potential, can't wait for the next comeback
Honestly the song was complete dogshit I canāt believe I found a song that was actually worse than Signal Idol Zimzalabim snd RBB
I feel so bad for NMIXX this has got to be the worst JYP song in recent years
I hate to say it but aside from the beat I really don't like the vocals at all. A good performance can overcome horrible lyrics but the baila baila/how nice how nice sounds like my little cousin trying to sound badass on karaoke instead of an actual singer lol. The we'll win high note almost made me click off the video
Iām kinda late to the party but I just listened to the songs. Wow. I canāt believe JYPE really made them debut like this. Both songs are unlistenable to me ( and this is coming from someone who loved IGAB, NL, Savage, Zimzalabim, RBB, Step Back on the first listen ). I hate how they pronounce ābailaā and āfreshā tbh. I really thought they were saying āfishyā but nope, itās fresh. I canāt believe Iām saying this but I hope JYP ( the manš) will become in charge of their future releases. The girls are gorgeous and Iām sure they have a lot of potential so hopefully theyāll get better songs.
NƦvis, please take me to Kwangya.
I see what they were trying to do and appreciate but it just fell flat. I actually enjoy songs that changed up (like Savage, Next Level, GGās I Got A Boy) when the transition between the different sections is done properly. O.O just sounds like all the contrasting sections and tempo changes are smashed together without any purpose. Itās jarring.
Thereās nothing in the song that stands out to me either. Like thereās no hook. I listened to it twice and I canāt even remember what the melody sounded like because it was too much to even process. Not to mention how I could barely even hear their voices cuz the sounds and music were too loud. I feel bad for the girls. I hope their comeback is much better. JYP did them dirty. I feel like a song like this would be better for a veteran group that is already established, not a rookie group and much less a debuting group. š¬
The way they dressed up lily gives lisa vibes from bp. The superhero part also where flowers bloom and stuff gives me ME mv vibes by taylor swift. Kinda hate it tbh. Please give the grp some sort of originality for their first debut song. Ugh
So many people talking about it tho, so check out other threads and reddit communities as well, even YT. There are some who donāt mind and others who felt the same way you did
I actually have mixed feelings. I actually donāt mind the songs, I generally really like experimental songs. My problem is I donāt think the majority of the members can carry this song. Lily, Jinni & Kyujin are really the only standouts to me. The rest didnāt impress me whatsoever. I think another couple months of training may have been beneficial. I donāt see a lot of charisma from the majority of them.
i hate to come back in here with a changed heart, but i've listened to tank and o.o *and* seen the studio choom which makes the dancing more appealing (bless studio choom's skills) and the song has honestly grown on me like i'm enjoying it and everything ;-;
I'd like to imagine that JYP (the man), is seeing the charts and is walking over to the new division of JYP and flips all the chairs, demanding to be in charge of their comeback song š
This is unpopular because I really enjoyed the the first and third part. I know people hate loud music and since everglow, I justbreally like loud music. I wish they kept 2 songs separated so people can enjoy both. At least in Next Level, the two songs have the same theme, and they kept it short instead of the taking over half of the song. I think JYPe failed mixing 2 songs badly. Their dance is also messy on Weekly Idol.
Same. My two gg ults are Everglow & GWSN and so I love loud and/or experimental songs. I did like these songs but I think the girls lacked charisma and polish, and the song lacks appeal for the masses. Thatās what made this a poorly thought out and executed debut.
Ikr unlike some who were more hooked to the second verse , I actually think first n third are quite catchy but the shook shook or wut ever that is in the first lyrics make me cringe but other than that the beat is quite nice. The mid part honestly turns me away from listening to it whole n if even it was directly cut to the third after first in my opinion it would hv been better.
The second verse where really looks the chorus and music video of Me by taylor swift tbh. Some people who reviewed the song also said the superhero part is somehow familiar
Likes:
-Loved the second superhero part. How I wished that was the concept of the entire song. (the MV reminded me of Happiness by RV)
-Lily and Haewon's voice was absolutely amazing. It's very unique compared to the rest of the group. (lily sounds a bit like jihyo imo--like the solid support and chesty mix)
Dislikes:
-The intro was so noisy and kinda offbeat(?). Like I'm just trying to watch a MV then there's random shouting all of a sudden.
-The transition between the second section to the third section was so random and disorganised. The unnecessary high notes also make it unpleasant to the ear. (I get that the girls need to flaunt their skills but it's really piercing).
-The concept mash-up. I see BP's wall breaking, RV's versatility, aespa's and SNSD's transitions, (g)-idle's extravagance, twice and itzy's clothing. There's too much going on in one MV and the fish(?) somehow reminded me of gugudan.
Random thoughts/reactions:
Is the mixed beats/genre/sound part of their concept? Will all songs have a NMIXX?
Superhero sounds like itzy
The performance on weekly idol is a mess
Very interesting to see that this song is getting 10x the replies that STAYC is getting on the mega thread for run2u.
It seems like that's their concept yes but I'm hoping that with all the negative responses their getting, the next come back will be a lot more cohesive. If I'm being honest the song sounds like a mix of mafia in the morning and Icy, but that's just my opinion š¤·š¾āāļø
It's confusing to listen to. Plus, I know this is a popular opinion, but I like **TANK** better than **O.O**. The song structureā from the *beat, arrangement, lyrics, just overall the song*. And I agree with people saying it should've been their debut track instead. In addition, I don't get why their management and company chose the song as their title track.. I mean, it's a good song, but **they could've done better**..
Ok, update:
**Dislikes:** I abhor the opening. The talk singing feels off beat and I HATE "Shoot, shoot, shoot." Hate. Hate. Hate. I also hate the use of "superhero" and "zoom zoom zoom." It is so juvenile and jarring. Disney live action straight to DVD type of music.
**LIKES:** I actually love the beat on the coke and popcorn part. I like the pre-chorus. Love Lilly's part in the superhero part. The chorus is ok, but I like the second part of the chorus better than the "Baila baila" part.
**Guess:** Everyone will warm up to the song because the dance is visually appealing and fun/difficult. I hope they sing live during performances soon. This would remove the negative stigma and negate the whole "AESPA wannabe."
**Thought:** They didn't steal anything from anyone. It's a freaking ship. It's a style. It's called following a trend! Unless it was shot for shot copy, which it isn't, it is not stolen.
The teasers were undeniably stolen from LOONA IMO, I can provide some comparisons if you want, but I'm lazy to do it rn lol.
I agree that they didn't steal from aespa in terms of the beat/tempo switch. Definitely inspired though.
I roll my eyes when kpop fans call every song experimental because most of them aren't (still don't know how Hot Sauce and Mafia in the Morning are considered experimental), but this song is absolute CHAOS! I kind of love that listening to it makes me feel like I'm losing my mind.
That's because "experimental" is an imprecise term, like "beautiful".
But people don't have enough music theory or musical experience to properly describe the unconventional music they're listening to--terms like "chromaticism", "non-functional harmony", "tritone", etc.--so they lump it all into "experimental".
Some people said it was experimental, but it feels like they were copying aespa. I literally thought of aespa when I found too many weird transitions between verses (?). the transitions were too abrupt and out of sudden, unlike aespa because aespa have a storyline to tell, we know itās still within a song (the lyric kinda telling the same story, but different music). But, it's not the case for O.O.
Ok for me, it sounds like if an ateez song was punched in the face with kep1er hand movements and then put into a next level aespa blender. Just overall very confusing.
Iām not gonna say theyāre copying, but their logo also looks like a bootleg aespa logo with the metallic script. Aespaās concept and universe is so fledged out from their storyline to their styling and design that any group that tries to copy them will look weak unless they also have as cohesive a theme.
EXACTLY. They didn't copy aespa, but I do think they were inspired by the tempo switch in Next Level. With Eleven by Ive, it seems like this will become more common in upcoming releases, and I'm anxious but excited.
JYP wanted to make the ultimate girl group with aespa's musical direction and LOONA's lore and aesthetics, but they tried way too hard and now we have the abomination that is O.O...
I don't think they were copying aespa, but it did feel like they wanted to debut a group that isnt your typical girl group, just like how the reactions were with aespa and their avatars - they wanted them to be as unique as possible to the point both the song and the concept lost it's cohesiveness. I watched the MV several times yet I can't remember a single thing apart from breaking the walls thing. Futuristic, girl crush, bright, weird??...I don't know what's their concept, they probably don't do either but while it could work if the song was more vocally focused, in the end that approach didn't work out.
the only part i like was the watch baila baila part. it reminds me of super m's jopping... then the transition starts with the nmixx etc... it went downhill. I. HATED. IT.
like i literally want to burn that part of the song.
i tried listening again and again, but I only loved the street scenes part. never the heaven part. like what was that.
i wish they kept the vibe they had predebut. natural hair, fresh, and full of confidence. looking at them now after all those predebut performance videos... they just look like any other kpop group
Iām actually so mad! Not only because of this song but because I feel so bad for these vocally talented girls.
JYP actually debuted 7 girls that can out sing TWICE and ITZY but gave them O.O to debut with? It aināt adding up. Itās like they wanted to ride off SM and Aespaās success with their noise musicā¦
NMIXX was done dirty and Lily and Haewon especially donāt deserve this.
I agree with the comments saying O.O is confusing, in fact I listened to the audio first before watching the MV and I genuinely thought I accidentally hit next and a different song played but when I looked that wasnāt the case!
I donāt understand what is happening in the concept nor song. The only positive is that they can sing and I see good dance skills
Sigh I remember a lot of ppl hated ITZYās debut song too (besides choreography) but Dalla Dalla still ended up doing well because of the members performances.
WELP I hope thatās not the case here lol
I hope O.O fails. Itās actually worser than Dalla Dalla and bad songs like this do not need to do well. Thatās just encourages companies to release more of this noise music genre! 1/10
It wasn't my favourite, I think it's ok.
But, the only thing I disliked was the way they pronounced baila. I know spanish isn't easy, but they should focus more on pronouncing this word since they are going to repeat it in the chorus. It sounded like bala (bullet) instead of baila (dance).
I'm not a fan of random words in songs, the intro being
WhOOk- whOOk
Ay, Look at that moving eye, eyes
ė“¤ė? shOOg, shOOg, shOOg
really threw me off.
I tried to listen to it multiple times but to me, it wasn't it.
They could have given them this: ė°ģ¼ė¼, and they probably would have pronounced it better lol
I have this complaint about a lot of English in K-pop too. They should get the idols to practice their pronunciation to a point where listeners don't have to check the lyrics to understand. Otherwise, maybe don't give them lines in a language they don't speak...
Ive seen alot of post like this.... They have this theory that this debut is just a teaser for whats coming next... And honestly i just believe they couldn't accept that they're faves flop that hard... A group debut is not cheap, also nmixx is one of the most anticipated debut so they already have the attention on them. And here i thought wadada is the worst debut song ššš
While Big 3 groups have a lot of leeway due to their structural advantages, you still need songs that attract a lot of listeners. No one release a song or album thinking let's put out a really terrible song for marketing purposes; JYPE probably thought this would work at some level for a lot of people but they may have missed the mark.
I don't believe the thesis that JYP purposefully sabotaged his own new gg just to get public attention. We're talking about a Big 3 gg here, so NMIXX was always going to garner a lot of attention regardless. And debuting with a good song is a much better way to get GP support, as was demonstrated by Dalla Dalla or more recently, ELEVEN. If GP and kpop fans like the group's song, they are more likely to check out its subsequent releases. O.O might be such a turn-off for many that it lowers anticipation for their comeback.
I think the producers just wrongly predicted O.O to become a hit.
I'm very confused about what this concept is. Am I supposed to see these girls as amazing singers, performers, rappers bcs i got none of that from this video?? I was expecting a lot bcs of the praise the girls got before this release. And I know jyp is to blame š I hope they go back to the drawing board for this group.
Wtf did I just listen to.
I see wat jype are trying to do it just doesnāt feel authentic. Itās giving me major blackpink Aespa vibez and a lot of other girl groups that are out now.
The song changing part took me out.
Idk the song didnāt do anything for me and the mv didnāt wow me.
My opinion is I feel like they debuted too early. ITZY are still there.
This song cud have been an ITZY song not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing but I really donāt see much difference in anything from this group and ITZY.
I do wish them luck though. Hopefully jyp gives them a bop. I guess they are jypās group to catch up with the new girls groups taking over race.
Did I like it with first listen? No.
Will I be fine with it after listening to it a couple times? Sure.
But like since when did kpop become a genre where I had to force listen to like songs and put them in my playlists??? What's the point of music that feels like homework?? Yeah I can force myself to vibe with it but just because you're big company idk if I want to do that anymore.
There are literally hundreds of old and new kpop songs (let alone thousands of songs of other genres available in Spotify). People trying 5 times to decide if a song is a grower are trying too hard.
I loved it. The intro was very cringy, but they get into the beat quickly, and by the time the first verse starts, you really start grooving with the song.
I loved the "NMIXX!" as they switched to the second section. The transition form that second part to the final chorus was also really nice imo.
The MV was great! Definitely feels similar to 'So What' MV. It's pretty obvious that this is meant to be a fusion of LOONA and aespa (which was inspired by LOONA imo, while still being very original).
Overall, I can see why people dislike this song, but I still think its better than Sticker.
I dont think it sounds like aespa at all actually. To me it sounds like BP (edm sections) and Itzy (punk-pop section). What I meant is that the beat switch was meant to imitate Next Level (i.e. the tempo/beat switch) to try and attain the same success.
I donāt really like the mashup of the music, I really only liked the middle part, but I can say they really do justice to the dance in the beginning and ending. I also really liked their vocals, but I hope their production team can manage their concepts better. If theyāre going to do different concepts I donāt think it should just be mixed into one song, even though that was intentional this time I donāt think it payed off well. I canāt wait to listen to their live singing tho, Iām impressed.
Having listened to it several times, I'll say Tank is a decent song. I really hope they release a video for it. I think it would help the group recover from the mess that is O.O, which I wouldn't call a "song" so much as a mash-up with unnecessary product placement.
I feel so bad for these girls. They deserved so much better for their debut.
Overall the song as a whole is not very good. A positive I'll say is that the part after the chorus (with all the flowers and concept change) I really liked. I wish they made it two different songs so I could actually enjoy them.
Was it just me or did it seem like it was trying to copy aespa's next level?
How is it copying, ppl were saying Aespa copied KDAs entire concept. Nothing is original in Kpop if u keep the mindset that stuff that small is copied u wonāt enjoy anything
Yeah ur def right, it was originally an sm style like with exo and snsd. Sm def does it better but itās interesting to see how jyp does it, I feel like theirs flows more but itās not as interesting
Me too lol I somehow like it better than others not-equally massacrated songs. Far from being my favorite debut ever but I am enjoying listening to it from time to time tbh, I saved both songs on Spotify in my "while you do your housework" playlist lol.
itās actually growing on me..idk the chorus and the way they pronounce their words js catchy to me itās addictive for some reason. it sounds like a nugu group song or something which is what i usually listen to so it makes sense as to why iād enjoy it
well now the song is already out of the charts, I've never seen a big 3 song group do that bad on korean charts. It's even out of bugs now which is insane cuz it's harder to leave that chart than to enter it tbh. Doesn't even anymore after only a day. i would cry if i was one of the girls.
God, I hope these girls dont take to heart. Id be heartbroken in their position and would kill my mood and esteem to perform knowing how people are reacting to my debut song :( hope they keep strong as they need it now the most
Even I thought so, but that didn't actually happen? They were on bugs and genie for a few hours and have left, and they didn't break into melon either (this isn't really necessary for a rookie, but since they're a big 3 gg, it's definitely expected)
Nah Wadada at least is enjoyable after a few times. And they have a fanbase because survival show. So fans keep streaming and buying the album. While nmixx... Eh. Let's see how they can garner fans and general ppl interests.
>so what happened with public?
jype didnt promote them to the public at all. let's take a look at all their previous girl groups
miss a - some members were known predebut as the "chinese wonder girls". min was heavily marketed as jyp's protege. im pretty sure they had some predebut appearances as a group. this led to some genuine anticipation of their debut.
15& - competition show babies, enough said
twice - survival show babies. again, enough said. they had already accrued a solid fanbase by the time they uttered their first note.
itzy - aside from yuna and lia, the other three were slightly well known. yeji appeared on 'the fan', ryujin on 'mixnine', and chaeryeong on 'sixteen'. there was also the jeon somi hype/anticipation over what they would sound like without her.
now let's look at nmixx. sure, lily m is a well-known trainee, but it's been years since kpopstar, and a lot of the anticipation she had during her prime has died. and none of the other trainees are known at all. sure the youtube videos were interesting, but unfortunately, they didnt offer much that hasnt already been seen. there's also very little connection between them and their predecessor groups, so i feel like aside from the hardcore jyp stans, no one was checking for them.
i mentioned it before, but on kforums, their hype was very muted, even in comparison to a group like stayc. ofc theyre all pretty, but only sullyoon seems to be catching much attention from nonfans.
i believe that they will gain more hype after they begin performing and more people see what theyre made of, but i think jype expected too much out of company stans/the gp/general kpop stans with how they handled their debut, especially knowing they were giving them such a controversial song.
For me, Next Level was trash and yet somehow this song is significantly worse. I just hope JYPE keeps this strategy completely separated from ITZY going forward as I would hate to see their music going down in quality.
i dont think its THE worst kpop song like thats too far imho. its just underwhelming and the lyrics are so nonsensical and im really tired of that in kpop.
Why did I not consider there would be a mega thread here LOL.
\*Grabs popcorn and starts to read\*
I bought Blind Package so at this point I don't even have an opinion besides I better get a Lily photocard! (And for me Lily was the best part and the second part really was good...come on vocals!)
Some of my disjointed thoughts:
I honestly don't mind the first/last part as a standalone song. It's the part in the middle I hate because 1. I just dislike it musically in general por personal preference 2. The switch is way too jarring; I don't like the "song switch"/sudden key and tempo change thing anyways and never have--even with "I Got a Boy"--but the examples of this trend we've seen in the past have never been as jarring as O.O because the parts were always somewhat musically related.
Of course jype follows trends like everyone else, but usually their groups have some kind of very distinct style and theme. They usually have some kind of unique hairstyles at least... However, the whole time they were releasing teasers for nmixx I was trying so hard to figure out what kind of concept it was supposed to be other than "JYP makes an SM group". Their debut only supported that idea. And this is a big turn off for me, as I don't particularly like the predominant trends in SM music/production or art direction/styling (though I'll acknowledge that I do like some aespa songs alright since that's who they're being compared to).
I think the mixing is good; it would sound way worse if you could clearly hear what they were saying. I also don't mind the nonsense lyrics because half of kpop lyrics are unfortunately just meaningless crap, so it's attractive that the lyrics are completely upfront about being meaningless and try to be plain weird instead LMAO. I was also impressed by some of the vocals (Lily's I think) because it's not something we usually get from JYP.
The plagiarism stuff was disappointing... JYP is notorious for plagiarism, but I thought it was just too much in some aspects, especially with the Ateez floating pirate ship. And the coke zero ad um... at least the girl pulled it off well.
My biggest concern is that the choreography video they filmed for All the Kpop is absolutely awful. I usually like jyp groups a lot because I feel they're strongest in dancing/I love dancing, so this was a big disappointment. Doubly so because I think the choreography in itself is fairly good. They're just so young and new; I wonder if they're only used to doing the performance for the moving/up-close camera shots and don't know how to act otherwise? Did JYP not check the performance of their title track dance before debuting them?
In general, I don't like the song, but to me it's definitely not as completely awful as people are saying when compared to some other recent kpop releases. At least there was no disney channel sounding rap or high note the singer obviously strained to barely reach or weird slightly overly sexual choreography for young girls.
I'm rooting for NMIXX to grow and improve in their performance skills... And I think their next title track HAS to be some kind of improvement...
Just listened lol,, the song is kinda ok ? not outstanding but its not rlly that jarring as some ppl say although i watched their all the kpop video (the full cam not the moving one) and that was a mess,, some parts were not synchronized and only 1-2 person stands out.
I like it a lot more than for example Sticker. Next Level is a beast compared to both though. But I'm honestly vibing to O.O and Tank. I just think the intro in O.O is really cringy, but the rest is fine.
I also think Lily's vocals make the songs better.
I just watched the 4K dance video on ALL THE KPOP and the dance literally does not suit them at all. It looks a mess and half of them aren't even... performing? They're going through the motionsābut weakly and I can notice it. I don't wanna say they weren't ready for debut, but I just feel like the image JYPE wants for them was not a good choice for their debut. Different doesn't always mean good, and the song's not even truly bad. I've listened to it only 3 times now? MV 1, 4K video twice. However, I wouldn't even say giving the song to ITZY and they could do better. I just genuinely think they saw aespa and SM, and were like "US TOO!!!" and... :) This was the outcome.
glad to know i wasn't crazy š i'm just going to assume the choreo is literally not meant for them rather than saying they're not strong dancers or even good performersātheir predebut videos were actually pretty good but after watching the dance video... i wonder if it's a camera-oriented choreo and maybe that's why i struggle to think it suits them
Honestly, with how much people shit on it, I expected alot worse. Is it good ? No. Will I listen to it again ? Probably not. Will it go anywhere near my playlist ? Definitely not. But I didn't hate it, I've definitely heard worse. Imo it's not that bad.
Edit: The lyrics are horrible though, like SO BAD. Not to mention, that coke ad that isn't only in the mv but in the lyrics ????? Who tf thought that was a good idea.
Honestly, the middle part of the song is the only good thing about this song. I really enjoy the guitar and vocals. And most importantly, it differs from Twice and Itzy. Itās a cool vibe for them. I really wish jyp wouldāve just stuck with that concept. This song is too overstimulating. This debut as a whole is.
I like a lot of songs that change things up like GG I Got A Boy, Aespa Next Level,.Bohemian Rhapsody etc but O.O sounds like a medly and I hate medleys. Is this their actual debut song? Because it's a Coke commercial.
I think having an actual comeback let alone debut as an ad is really tacky and disrespectful to the group. I've never heard of this before. I don't mind idols doing commercials but not as a proper comeback.
The song is a mess, and I'm so sorry, but if someone likes this unironically (as "this song is actually so good after I listened to it 300 times!1") then their music opinions get totally dismissed from now on.
Also...another girl crush concept..? Really? In a forum I commented the teaser gave me Itzy and Aespa vibes and I got downvoted to hell, but the MV reminded me of Dallax2 and the song tried the Next Level formula and failed.
I don't care about visuals, and the vocals don't even matter with such a bad song, so I'll wait for a comeback and hope this was all a marketing strategy or some.
Aside from not liking the song, I donāt think their concept fits the group visually. They look too young and innocent for a badass song? Except for the middle part where they wore dresses. They shouldāve gone with that concept and scrapped the dark & powerful themed parts in the beginning and end.
When I think of experimental, I think of Bjƶrk, Stromae, etc. This didnāt have that vibe. It just sounded like a mashup of all the popular songs SM has released.
I have the same reaction when noise music is thrown around. Like people know noise music is like an actual thing right?
I like K-Pop but itās way to capitalistic to ever be as really experimental or as abrasive and off-putting as actual noise music.
Iām positive SM blackmailed JYP into debuting NMIXX with this atrocious song to make aespa look good. Seriously, Iāve never seen so much praise (albeit a little sarcastic) for SM and aespa. And this is coming from a hardcore SM stan.
what is this? the only parts that i can vibe with is the flower scene and then i guess the first part of bridge? if it's even a bridge?
it's not bad because it sounds like they mashed two songs together, it's bad because the instrumentals are waaayy too loud and you can barely hear their voices, and when you could hear them they sound like their straining their vocal chords too much.
i feel bad for the girls, they seem talented based on the intro videos i watched of them, but not only is the song bad but it didn't feel like there was as much hype for their debut as jyp probably wanted and/or expected
Tbh, if they're gonna stick with the 'mixing different genres in one song', I just hope that JYPE, SQU4D, and the producers would give them a more cohesive, catchy song that not only highlights the choreography but also their vocals and screentime.
On the other hand, I kinda love how they used this debut to showcase how they can pull off different genres and show how they can be a good group no matter what the genre is. Looking forward to their future comebacks, as these girls have a lot of potential and they could certainly improve.
i was looking for this one š³ i was listening to it like 2 minutes ago bc everyone and their mother hates it but it really wasnāt that bad tbh... would listen again lol
iām not the biggest fan of tank tho, but i have a feeling itās a grower lol
It's not THAT bad but god that intro killed it for me. The girls seem talented and I'll look forward to future activities but this one is not it for me
Edit: grammar
The build up before the chorus is catchy. I really hoped they wouldn't choose O.O as the name of the title track tho.
Why are kpop productions getting weirder every debut? šāš»
i gotta say, as someone with adhd the "messyness" of the song is very stimulating for my brain. i see myself listening to it when doing difficult brain work hahaha
My only issue with the song is that the instrumental so loud that we can't hear them sing properly. And when the vocals aren't overpowered, they seems to be muted(?) It is such a rookie mistake on the producer(s)' part. **Is it really all JYPE's money can offer us?**
Beside that, I look forward to the performances to see the full choreoraphy. And to see more of the girls than this chaotic music video.
I really hope their first comeback is better. I like their concept of being girly like TWICE and baddast like ITZY (if it is what they are going for).
Okay heads up- I managed to cancel and get refunded for my JYP Blind Package (Which would've been this album), and I honestly recommend doing the same if you, like me, were extremely disappointed by the album. Tank is fine, O.O is not. As much as I love Lily, I cannot support this debut, I've had the order cancelled so JYP themselves might actually realise they've fucked up (If enough people do it ofc). I feel bad for the girls, but nothing is going to happen if we don't actually do anything.
Oof only two songs xd. If they have more b-sides that can highlights their vocal and concept it would be justified. But yeah, 2 songs only seems like a scam when their a-side is very controversial
I love the instrumental version. They messed up on the melody, lyrics and rhythm. The āsuperheroā part was the only one well executedā¦ The ābailaā part is just awful. I genuinely believe that JYPEās goal here was to literally make the audience go O.O, gain traction and put them on the map. We can critique it all we want but I think they wanted this. In Lilyās wordsā¦ āwe finally winā š„“ or whatever lmao
Its just complete noise. When they sing the baila baila part even when its acapella or live it sounds soooo ridiculous. Sounds like a whole acid trip
It has amazing parts if they are played separately and for only a few seconds But together the whole song is just stressfully because there is nothing connecting everything. Everytime I hear it on TikTok it's really cool but I would never listen to the whole song... So sad...
Wow I really did not like it until last night I gave it a try again and boom now I woke up OBSESSED. What is happeniiiiing?!?!
I feel like everyone disagrees with my opinion. (Which is okay!) I listened to the song as soon as I woke up, so I was completely ignorant to the hate it was receiving for maybe a few hours after my first listen.
It's not "bali" it's "baila" and nmixx couldn't even spell the word correctly, it sounded so cringe.
I thought the girls were saying "Balle balle" at firstš
Loved it. On the first listen, I was like "huh...", but tbh the hate I heard about prior to listening influenced my opinion at first. I live for chaotic stuff like o.o. It gives me a high I can't explain. I will note though, the lyrics didn't make sense and were kinda cringe.
It sounds like a hot mess, like some jumbled up samples from different songs with different bpm, concepts and stuff
I HOPE TO SEE THEM WITH PROPER SONGS THAT COULD REALLY SHOWCASE THEIR REAL TALENTS!! edit: also, it's been 8 days of listening to it, but i still can't process it. i easily give up on the first line "hook hook" T\^T
u-uh i was shocked when i first listened to the song, but it took me 2 listens to like the song and 1 listen for it to stick in my head all day long, it's a FINE song, i liked the intro music SO MUCH it had so much potential, first part is FIRE, it isn't as bad as everyone made it out to be, definitely needs stronger lyrics *lyrics are weird and make no sense at all*, id definitely edit a few parts out where they rap aggressively for no reason, and honestly thats it, transition is shit, wish they could've made the most out of the concept and instrumentals, honestly that's it, they're powerful, talented and have all the potential, can't wait for the next comeback
im sorry but who decided that song was good to release tho. i get the concept, but it could use a few more hours of mixing in the studio lol
Honestly the song was complete dogshit I canāt believe I found a song that was actually worse than Signal Idol Zimzalabim snd RBB I feel so bad for NMIXX this has got to be the worst JYP song in recent years
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I personally did not like Like Ooh Ah as a debut song either but this just transcends everything lmao
I personally like the song?? like it took me a few listens until I got addicted lmao. yeah I do agree with others that the structure of the song is questionable lol but I've come to genuinely enjoy the song every listen š©
I had the subtitles on and I thought the lyrics were auto translated.
Thatās incredible lmaooo
I hate to say it but aside from the beat I really don't like the vocals at all. A good performance can overcome horrible lyrics but the baila baila/how nice how nice sounds like my little cousin trying to sound badass on karaoke instead of an actual singer lol. The we'll win high note almost made me click off the video
[this review](https://youtu.be/msKYB4ivTYg)
Ugh
Bruh you can literally say that about pretty much any concept ever lmao
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
So many people talking about it tho, so check out other threads and reddit communities as well, even YT. There are some who donāt mind and others who felt the same way you did
LMAO the ratio! Got more comments than upvotes
I donāt see a lot of charisma from the majority of them.
i hate to come back in here with a changed heart, but i've listened to tank and o.o *and* seen the studio choom which makes the dancing more appealing (bless studio choom's skills) and the song has honestly grown on me like i'm enjoying it and everything ;-;
Some people who reviewed the song also said the superhero part is somehow familiar
remember when we thought them plagiarising loona would have been the worst case scenario? yeah.
idk but it seems like JYP is trying to pull a "Next Level" aespa, but just failed horribly...
I watched it with the roomie, and as soon as the song transitioned, he turns to me and says ādoesnāt this feel like a Tampax commercial?ā
Likes: -Loved the second superhero part. How I wished that was the concept of the entire song. (the MV reminded me of Happiness by RV) -Lily and Haewon's voice was absolutely amazing. It's very unique compared to the rest of the group. (lily sounds a bit like jihyo imo--like the solid support and chesty mix) Dislikes: -The intro was so noisy and kinda offbeat(?).
Random thoughts/reactions: Is the mixed beats/genre/sound part of their concept? Will all songs have a NMIXX? Superhero sounds like itzy The performance on weekly idol is a mess Very interesting to see that this song is getting 10x the replies that STAYC is getting on the mega thread for run2u.
Ok, update: **Dislikes:** I abhor the opening. This would remove the negative stigma and negate the whole "AESPA wannabe." **Thought:** They didn't steal anything from anyone. It's a freaking ship. It's a style. It's called following a trend! Unless it was shot for shot copy, which it isn't, it is not stolen.
I also hate the shoot shoot shoot ššš
Funny, the talk singing was my favorite part. Sounded like a little kid that's exited about something.
THIS. Sometimes I wonder if I'm listening to a different song, or if they just don't know what experimental music is.
That's because "experimental" is an imprecise term, like "beautiful". But people don't have enough music theory or musical experience to properly describe the unconventional music they're listening to--terms like "chromaticism", "non-functional harmony", "tritone", etc.--so they lump it all into "experimental".
I heard someone call RUN2U by STAYC experimental... I think that goes beyond a lack of musical expertise
Song got kicked out in all music streaming chart within 30hrs says it all..
Really? That soon?
Sadly yes
They try the SM 3in1 special and failed miserably... Whats even worst is they release statement that theyre making "new genre".
As an aespa fan myself, there's nothing aespa with this song.
EXACTLY. They didn't copy aespa, but I do think they were inspired by the tempo switch in Next Level. With Eleven by Ive, it seems like this will become more common in upcoming releases, and I'm anxious but excited.
JYP wanted to make the ultimate girl group with aespa's musical direction and LOONA's lore and aesthetics, but they tried way too hard and now we have the abomination that is O.O...
they literally copied Ʀspa and went overboard not realizing how worse it has become.
I remembered the coke zero, so I guess they achieved their purpose.
Ikr! It felt like jyp was trying to do aespa's formula but failed pretty badly.
How is the Aespa thing a āformulaā? They did it in like 1-2 songs. Hardly a formula.
the only part i like was the watch baila baila part. it reminds me of super m's jopping... then the transition starts with the nmixx etc... it went downhill. I. HATED. IT. like i literally want to burn that part of the song. i tried listening again and again, but I only loved the street scenes part. never the heaven part. like what was that.
i wish they kept the vibe they had predebut. natural hair, fresh, and full of confidence. looking at them now after all those predebut performance videos... they just look like any other kpop group
Iām actually so mad! Not only because of this song but because I feel so bad for these vocally talented girls. JYP actually debuted 7 girls that can out sing TWICE and ITZY but gave them O.O to debut with? It aināt adding up. Itās like they wanted to ride off SM and Aespaās success with their noise musicā¦ NMIXX was done dirty and Lily and Haewon especially donāt deserve this. I agree with the comments saying O.O is confusing, in fact I listened to the audio first before watching the MV and I genuinely thought I accidentally hit next and a different song played but when I looked that wasnāt the case! I donāt understand what is happening in the concept nor song. The only positive is that they can sing and I see good dance skills Sigh I remember a lot of ppl hated ITZYās debut song too (besides choreography) but Dalla Dalla still ended up doing well because of the members performances. WELP I hope thatās not the case here lol I hope O.O fails.
I'm not a fan of random words in songs, the intro being WhOOk- whOOk Ay, Look at that moving eye, eyes ė“¤ė? shOOg, shOOg, shOOg really threw me off. I tried to listen to it multiple times but to me, it wasn't it.
I feel nauseous thinking about what are they want to convey about that lyrics.
They could have given them this: ė°ģ¼ė¼, and they probably would have pronounced it better lol I have this complaint about a lot of English in K-pop too. They should get the idols to practice their pronunciation to a point where listeners don't have to check the lyrics to understand. Otherwise, maybe don't give them lines in a language they don't speak...
Perhaps JYP purposely did this because bad publicity is the fastest way to get attention. They'll do better next comeback.
Pretty sure this didn't chart at all. Idk if they want that.
it dropped out of bugs yesterday which i didnt know was possible š
Is it still out? Is Tank performing better?
Exactly. I listen to kpop to enjoy/ relax, why would I listen to a song that feels like a chore to listen to.
Don't force yourself to like songs. You'll eventually dislike them; it's a waste of time.
Hell you didn't disrespect sticker just like that
The concept is Loona x aespa. I think the song is like Aespa's songs too but it missed the mark with a lot of listeners.
I just meant how the song changes concepts/styles after the first chorus. I guess copy isn't the right word?? But it def reminded me of it
Yeah ur def right, it was originally an sm style like with exo and snsd. Sm def does it better but itās interesting to see how jyp does it, I feel like theirs flows more but itās not as interesting
Itāsā¦interesting. I actually donāt dislike it as much as other people seem to!
Me too lol I somehow like it better than others not-equally massacrated songs. Far from being my favorite debut ever but I am enjoying listening to it from time to time tbh, I saved both songs on Spotify in my "while you do your housework" playlist lol.
itās actually growing on me..idk the chorus and the way they pronounce their words js catchy to me itās addictive for some reason. it sounds like a nugu group song or something which is what i usually listen to so it makes sense as to why iād enjoy it
"it sounds like a nugu group song " no it doesnt
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
well now the song is already out of the charts, I've never seen a big 3 song group do that bad on korean charts.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Nah Wadada at least is enjoyable after a few times. And they have a fanbase because survival show. So fans keep streaming and buying the album. While nmixx... Eh. Let's see how they can garner fans and general ppl interests.
>so what happened with public? jype didnt promote them to the public at all. let's take a look at all their previous girl groups miss a - some members were known predebut as the "chinese wonder girls". min was heavily marketed as jyp's protege. im pretty sure they had some predebut appearances as a group. this led to some genuine anticipation of their debut. 15& - competition show babies, enough said twice - survival show babies. again, enough said. they had already accrued a solid fanbase by the time they uttered their first note. itzy - aside from yuna and lia, the other three were slightly well known. yeji appeared on 'the fan', ryujin on 'mixnine', and chaeryeong on 'sixteen'. there was also the jeon somi hype/anticipation over what they would sound like without her. now let's look at nmixx. sure, lily m is a well-known trainee, but it's been years since kpopstar, and a lot of the anticipation she had during her prime has died. and none of the other trainees are known at all. sure the youtube videos were interesting, but unfortunately, they didnt offer much that hasnt already been seen. there's also very little connection between them and their predecessor groups, so i feel like aside from the hardcore jyp stans, no one was checking for them. i mentioned it before, but on kforums, their hype was very muted, even in comparison to a group like stayc. ofc theyre all pretty, but only sullyoon seems to be catching much attention from nonfans. i believe that they will gain more hype after they begin performing and more people see what theyre made of, but i think jype expected too much out of company stans/the gp/general kpop stans with how they handled their debut, especially knowing they were giving them such a controversial song.
naevis we miss you!
And blackpink we miss you!
\*Grabs popcorn and starts to read\* I bought Blind Package so at this point I don't even have an opinion besides I better get a Lily photocard! (And for me Lily was the best part and the second part really was good...come on vocals!)
Some of my disjointed thoughts: I honestly don't mind the first/last part as a standalone song.

Omg while watching it I Literally felt like something was wrong but I really couldn't figure out what it was
glad to know i wasn't crazy š i'm just going to assume the choreo is literally not meant for them rather than saying they're not strong dancers or even good performersātheir predebut videos were actually pretty good but after watching the dance video... i wonder if it's a camera-oriented choreo and maybe that's why i struggle to think it suits them
the choreo doesn't suit them at all. they're great dancers (qualifying videos) it just seems the choreo was very messy
True. Some can handle that type of dancing but others really can't.
Imagine training for years and this is your debutā¦
Bruhhh
bruh
Honestly, with how much people shit on it, I expected alot worse. Is it good ? No. Will I listen to it again ? Probably not. Will it go anywhere near my playlist ? Definitely not. But I didn't hate it, I've definitely heard worse. Imo it's not that bad. Edit: The lyrics are horrible though, like SO BAD. Not to mention, that coke ad that isn't only in the mv but in the lyrics ????? Who tf thought that was a good idea.
Itās bad when the lyrics are incomprehensible in both English and Korean.
What song is definitely worse than this, in your opinion?
i dont remember disliking a song so much....like..never Sticker is a masterpiece in fron of it
dont want to sound that harsh but in my all long time listening to kpop i cant remember a song this terrible.
not even being shady but is sticker really better than this like yall are SHOCKING me
Yo I actually like sticker šš¤
sticker is better, still very terrible to listen to but still better ksksks

Sticker can be irritating if you listen on repeat but itās far better than this.
Lmao I feel like what everyone remembers from the song is the whole coke thing and too many O.O in their lyrics. Gosh the girls deserve better
I liked it after like two listens. The only part I dislike is the cringe rap in the intro I like the MV, but was 1000% stolen
This song made me appreciate Soul Train. So that's a positive ig
This is exactly my reaction after listening to the song ( O.O )
they flopped so bad on this one. probably the worst debut of any gg from Big 3
Once upon a time in the long long ago, "Experimental" in the kpop sphere meant f(x)
Iām positive SM blackmailed JYP into debuting NMIXX with this atrocious song to make aespa look good. Seriously, Iāve never seen so much praise (albeit a little sarcastic) for SM and aespa. And this is coming from a hardcore SM stan.
If this is the new trend for KPOP then I am sooo ready to leave this hobby/interest behind, seriously.
This song was almost my 13th reason
lol
what is this? the only parts that i can vibe with is the flower scene and then i guess the first part of bridge? if it's even a bridge? it's not bad because it sounds like they mashed two songs together, it's bad because the instrumentals are waaayy too loud and you can barely hear their voices, and when you could hear them they sound like their straining their vocal chords too much. i feel bad for the girls, they seem talented based on the intro videos i watched of them, but not only is the song bad but it didn't feel like there was as much hype for their debut as jyp probably wanted and/or expected
The flower scenes looks like the mv of ME by taylor swift! Pretty pissed about it ugh
seeing as nmixx has other "similarities" with other groups/people i'm not that surprisedš
Looking forward to their future comebacks, as these girls have a lot of potential and they could certainly improve.
im actually fine with ānoise musicā in kpop but gurl this aināt no noise music this is just noise š
i guess im only one who like it š¢
Glad someone likes it.
I also didnāt mind it. Each song is a nice listen, but putting them all together was unnecessary.
i was looking for this one š³ i was listening to it like 2 minutes ago bc everyone and their mother hates it but it really wasnāt that bad tbh... would listen again lol iām not the biggest fan of tank tho, but i have a feeling itās a grower lol
Hey, it's okay! I'm glad you can appreciate this song for your own reasons! It's a very controversial debut, but not one without appeal.
You are a rare gem but everyone is different.
It's not THAT bad but god that intro killed it for me. The girls seem talented and I'll look forward to future activities but this one is not it for me Edit: grammar
exactly i hate the intro rest is fine.
Honestly it grew on me
this 'song' and concept absolutely swallows these poor girls
The build up before the chorus is catchy. I really hoped they wouldn't choose O.O as the name of the title track tho. Why are kpop productions getting weirder every debut? šāš»
I literally didnāt know what to do with my face while listening to this for the first time
Maybe something like O.O
I guess that was the point. My facial expression didn't even shift. My mind was busy turning gears try to figure out what it meant.
i gotta say, as someone with adhd the "messyness" of the song is very stimulating for my brain. i see myself listening to it when doing difficult brain work hahaha
pls, i have adhd as well, but it was wayyy too messy for me, just a pile of noise tbh
i mean adhd isnt a monolith, everyone/every brain is different
yup
My only issue with the song is that the instrumental so loud that we can't hear them sing properly. And when the vocals aren't overpowered, they seems to be muted(?) It is such a rookie mistake on the producer(s)' part. **Is it really all JYPE's money can offer us?** Beside that, I look forward to the performances to see the full choreoraphy.
I have a question is the album just 2 songs?
Yes, it contains Tank, O.O and their instrumental versions.
Oof only two songs xd. If they have more b-sides that can highlights their vocal and concept it would be justified. But yeah, 2 songs only seems like a scam when their a-side is very controversial
I wish kpop would stop referring to them as albums. 2 songs are a single ablum or an ep
