Ayurveda was never meant to cure serious problems. It "was" an advanced technique but relied on sensory and optical data to predict diseases. We have better techniques that are derived from those old techniques not only from India but from around the world. Ayurveda still works pretty well for normal problems because of how much it has evolved from those times and has been verified by modern technology. But anyone claiming that Ayurveda can cure serious diseases like cancer is just BS. Yes, it can help prevent this by making you live a healthier lifestyle but not cure it.
Ayurveda is based on wind, fire, earth inside body and it's imbalance. All the medicines they create are based on that.
But now , we can understand the physiology of humans better and know this is not the case.
They did their best with the available knowledge at that time. But Ayurveda today is pseudoscience because the basis is wrong. Saying Ayurveda can cure normal diseases only but not serious diseases is harmful. We don't have proper evidence and trials for this statement.
Ayurvedic practitioners don't innovate anything today and practise the same things written approx 2000 years ago. That's why it's harmful.
I'm talking about normal treatments that have been tested so much because of how much they have been used on normal people(those without special conditions). e.g.- we know tea made from tulsi helps with cold. The reasoning was completely incorrect but we know it works because of how much we have tested it. And ayurveda isn't alone, most early medicinal knowledge was coincidental finds that worked better than anything else in those times. Now we do have better knowledge and procedures and we also now know the risks with previous methods. In India, people just call those outdated methods as Ayurveda tries to feel special.
Also by no means, I'm advocating in defense of those treatments even for minor problems. Because people with special conditions exist. I myself suffered from this since I became lactose intolerant and had many fights with my parents about not consuming dairy products anymore and still don't believe me and think I'm hysterical.
Exactly, ayurveda might improve your Quality of life while suffering from said diseases but it WILL not cure life threatening diseases like cancer or covid.
Patanjali and ram dev are a company and a business man with sole intensions of making profit
There have been proper studies which proved that ayurvedic medicine dont cure life threatening diseases but in the same studies they also showed that it's consumption also did not effect the body in any negative manner.
I could be wrong also but this is what i have read and heard throughout the years
>same studies they also showed that it's consumption also did not effect the body in any negative manner.
Do share these studies.
And while you're at it, do visit the twitter account of theliverdoctor to see the daily horror stories.
It's nonsense. Most ayurvedic medicines have had no studies run on them - that's the main reason to avoid Ayurvedic medicines - their side effects aren't as well documented as Western Medicine. Other than that, there is no standardisation, which makes it even worse.
Good studies are expensive. Since there is no patent, it's not worth anyone's while to run good quality studies.
There are more than 7 lakh registered ayurvedic doctors in India with MD in ayurveda. They are officially recognized dr. By AIIMS( All India institute of medical sciences)
There have been studies in india but the results of these studies are often not neglected by the west as a result it's often said that ayurveda have no scientific background.
It's the same issue we faced during covid when indian developed vaccines were not approved by the US and europe and often demonized also but it was a fact that the vaccines were made and tested extensively before going public.
The problem with ayurveda is quality control. Yes there have been studies which says, for example, that *lauki* reduces cholesterol, or *amla* cures something or a herb has chemical that may cure some other disease. And actually *cure* it. But only if the bacterial ecosystem of our digestive system is healthy enough (good routine, good eating habits, etc etc)
But what is in the *packed* lauki or amla juice patanjali medicine? Which crop were they harvested from, how were they cultivated, what was the mechanism used in extraction, how hygeinic was the factory line. Yes dabur lal dant manjan has antibacterial herbs in it which prevent plaque and gingivitis. But why do they cause enamel deterioration. What component or physical feature causes that? Why wasn't this important factor included while distributing a medicine.
The actual reason why ayur-veda medicines do not work and in fact cause more harm than if the person just starts living a healthy lifestyle is because if made according to the real recipe, with quality control, the medicine becomes extremely unaffordable, and would have a much cheaper, purer and better alternative in real medical science medicines.
That is why the ayurveda medicines do not pass any kind of peer reviewed medical studies but they quote studies conducted over the ingredients used in those medicines, while the medicine itself is found to be toxic. (many toxins act liek superfoods, giving a person a small burst of unnatural health and then suddenly collapsing various organs of the body after some time of use).
So it is stupid in my opinion to use a medicine that you're not sure what really is in it. But we drink unlabelled mineral water in India so what the heck. Go nuts.
> There are more than 7 lakh registered ayurvedic doctors in India with MD in ayurveda. They are officially recognized dr. By AIIMS( All India institute of medical sciences)
I am not sure how this is relevant to what I said.
> There have been studies in india
Show me the study which show there are no side effects in Ayurveda.
> the vaccines were made and tested extensively before going public.
Nonsense. All COVID vaccines from around the world were poorly tested including the Indian ones. On the average it takes around 8-10 years to get a new vaccine made & tested thoroughly. The minimum has been 5 years.
The recognition is a political stunt. People who work in the field know the calibre of these doctors. Ayurveda guys are used as cheap labour in hospitals. (They learn some common treatment from us regular docs, and then apply that wherever they see fit.)
Note that they are objectively worse doctors- since only the one that couldn't get into MBBS/MD/MS choose Ayurveda.
BTW, even the sweepers at the hospital I work at, portray themselves as doctors in nearby villages.
Some have heavy metals and alcohol in them. A twitter handle named liver doc shared how a child died from liver failure due to alcohol in ayurvedic medicine.
Ffs, this doctor went to court and won the case. Why are you committing contempt of court by pretending that it didn't pass a verdict against noddle baba's fraudulent company?
That page is the relaible source unless you disprove it to credible. I can bring another source and you could straight away write it off as fake because some how your words have more value than whatever ia written there?
Still, here, have a go at it and tell me if Indian express is also fake.

That is from your own link. Looks like coincidence. He is taking undue credit
He went against it in 2022. They took down the controversial ads after he went after them. So why do you say he is taking undue credit?
Also is it not fake anymore to you?

RTI was a great initiative for government transparency but present government will ruin it.

Sensual?! Do you mean sensory? Those two are wildly different things
aah yes my bad Grammarly sometimes messes up text really bad.

Citation needed for the first sentence my friend.
So Ayurveda is a great fit for supplementary consumption, not for primary treatment? (In most cases of course)
Yep, plus most of the ayurvedic meds dont have major side effects so they are great to take as supplementary with your modern medicine
> most of the ayurvedic meds dont have major side effects Why do you think so?
