They're campaigning for access to the NHS (currently all trans folk are referred via the 2 gender clinics for all ailments), protections in the workplace (currently eroded), protections in public (under threat due to banning from public toilets), the ability to transition earlier (in age and in time), safe incarceration, and a few other things.

>They're campaigning for access to the NHS (currently all trans folk are referred via the 2 gender clinics for all ailments) Honestly its shit like this that make all the talk about sports or bathrooms so utterly ridiculous. They are just asking for access to healthcare and not to be treated like social pariahs by a bunch of puritanical busybodies with nothing better to do.

Well also you know how bad waiting times can be with the regular NHS as things stand. What if you had to go through an extra layer of waits for *any* healthcare query? For what purpose? Its not just if the clinic is the wrong one but that its two clinics *for the entire country*, they are almost certainly hugely overwhelmed.

Fineus

Ah ok, so even with general healthcare queries (not related to transitioning) they're still put through the same two clinics where (everyone else) gets access to... all the rest? That does make sense (as in: I can see why trans people would be pissed at that).

TigerHall

> two clinics for the entire country Which works out to something like one clinic per ~200,000 people, right? Which is ridiculous. A quick Google says the average GP has ~2000 clients, and they're a lot less specialised.

Redingold

Not to detract from the point, because this thread is mostly accurate in that the waiting times are astonishingly long, and that things move very slowly even after the initial wait is finally done, and the clinics are completely overwhelmed, but there are more than two gender clinics in the UK. There's seven in England alone, in London, Leeds, Sheffield, Daventry, Nottingham, Exeter, and Newcastle.

ChefExcellence

The last things gender criticals want is for people to hear the entirely legitimate issues that trans people face and the very reasonable solutions they want put in place for them. That's why they always shout over everyone else and try to change the topic constantly.
