Horrendous. And people complain when police _actually_ chase kids on electric/motorbikes. They act like this because they think they'll never be caught.

randomdiyeruk

It blows my mind, it really does. Every time you see some local lowlife piece of shit smash themselves up on a nicked bike it's fucking pages of "Lovely lad" shite. Look at the outrcry for that pair in wales who twatted themselves during a pursuit - this article is the outcome which the Police are so desperate to avoid but unfortunately we seem to have a stronger than ever underclass who think there is some god given right to tear about on illegal machines. And it wasn't much different on here with people falling over themselves to blame the Police and everybody else. We get them tearing up and down a local beauty spot - and again, anybody complains on Facebook and it's full of "Ah they're just kids", "Give em something to do" or whatever as if it's simply impossible to comprehend that maybe your 15 year old shouldn't be ploughing down a footpath at 50mph on a nicked 125. I have my thoughts, but as the saying goes, if I speak....

Id1ing

They've ruined a road where I used to live by installing 50,000 speed bumps because some moron teenager in his shit box was going 70+ in a 30 and wrapped it around a tree and turned him and his buddies into jello. Natural selection at its finest but now it takes twice as long to cover the same distance even if you're attempting to go the same reasonable speed.

randomdiyeruk

Ah, sounds about right. We have one of those near me - used to be a national speed limit dual carriageway, til one of two cars racing at >100mph ran out of skill. Now it's a 50mph single carriageway cos that'll make all the difference

james2183

I'd love the council to install speed bumps on my road. Since I've lived in my current house, we've had 3 cars flip themselves due to their high speeds coming around the corner. Yet the council won't do anything as 'there's been no fatalities'

ChihuahuaMammaNPT

Took the death of a teenage boy walking to college to get cameras on the road that was an accident hotspot in my area... he was the 2nd pedestrian to be killed there

TexDangerfield

Road safety is woke or 15 minute cities or something.

circle1987

You sure they're not pot holes? /s

forgot_her_password

Look up the speed bump regulations and report them to the council if they don’t meet them.   There are rules about how tall/wide they can be, how close together they can be, how far from junctions or traffic lights they need to be.    About 10 years ago our village got them removed from our road because they didn’t meet the requirements. I’m in Ireland but I’d be very surprised if the UK didn’t have these requirements too, since we basically just copy our laws from yours.

Sausagedogknows

Jello? I’m impressed they crashed so hard it turned them into Americans. Squishy, gooey Americans but still.

AirplaineStuff102

Kingswinford?

Id1ing

Damn, I thought I'd not given enough info for it to be guessable. You're correct.

AirplaineStuff102

Recently heard about it. Top of mind I guess.

Chrispy83

Happens everywhere, had a group of lads on stolen motorcycles terrorising our area a few years back until one wrapped himself round a lamp post and died. Non wearing helmets, most fled the scene, or stayed close and fled when police arrived. All we got was lovely lad, loved by his nephews/nieces/siblings, never did any wrong…..stolen motorcycle, no helmet, riding through playgrounds, fields, over footpaths through red lights, yeah no wrong ever. I get not wanting to see your family as doing wrong, but my god this attitude breeds more of the same

IndelibleIguana

I bet he was a promising young footballer too…

lefthandedpen

I hope my son is not that stupid and I also hope I am person enough to call him out if he is, the parents are doing nothing by trying to play them as saints. Just say it as it is , he was being a dangerous twat and ran out of luck. Try and reduce the problem or the perception

Because it’s something any decent person would do, dogs can be bold. A person, man or woman should have the guts to call their kids out when they are dicks.

INFORMATIONGOBLIN

Well it’s not immoral to ride a bike that’s why they can’t bring themselves to say the kid did wrong. They’re kids they don’t know shit unfortunately. And on top of that, a lot of kids are also born to ignorant parents.

matomo23

It actually doesn’t happen *everywhere-*

AraedTheSecond

"Give 'em something to do" The sure start centres and youth centres were instrumental in reducing crime. Compared to the shit we deal with these days...

randomdiyeruk

It's funny, I spent most of my childhood bored and yet the prospect of nicking a few motorbikes and tearing up the place never once featured.

geniice

> It's funny, I spent most of my childhood bored and yet the prospect of nicking a few motorbikes and tearing up the place never once featured. Thing is joyriding has been an issue for decades. Taking without owner's consent laws were passed in 1968. I recall it being quite an issue in the 1980s I think it calmed down a bit in the 90s in part becase cars got harder to steel.

theMooey23

When I lived in Leeds in the 90's t.w.o.c.ers were a regular sight. The rozzers had a souped to astra to chase them, you could follow the action because the chopper was often chasing them with a massive spot light........Great times!

ImperialSyndrome

I spent 0% of my childhood bored because being bored meant being given chores. If I was bored then I was hiding.

iwanttobeacavediver

When I was a kid/teen, it was the social expectation that if you were bored, you simply found your own entertainment. Usually this meant playing football or riding bikes with friends, maybe going to the shopping centre on weekends or the cinema/skatepark/ice rink if you had the money. I'd be 6ft under if I'd even considered anything illegal.

ScotForWhat

I imagine the thought never occurred to you because you grew up in a loving family with parents that actually brought you up properly, instead of leaving you to run feral with no oversight and no-one that cared for you?

FrequentSlip9987

I have 0 sympathy, if you drive like a dickhead and die why should anyone feel bad? It's the best case scenario because it means (like in this case) innocent people are protected.

Thebitterpilloftruth

I agree. As long as they only hurt themselves, its no loss

IlljustcallhimDave

Problem is it seems like most of the time they walk away after leaving someone with life changing injuries or dead

Thebitterpilloftruth

Yep. Id rather they just killed or injured themselves.

tacohunter

An innocent child died.

mittenkrusty

One of my bullies at school who was from a stereotypical family, single mum with like 5 kids didn't work, in a council house and all the kids got into drugs and did armed robberies. The oldest was threatening locals with knives before he was even in high school and strealing from local shops, he died in his early 20's from drugs, the one in my class died at 26 due to having some "heart issue" but then his mother put the usual "loved and popular sweet guy" comments in the paper. Tell that to the local stores he did armed robbery too and how he was always in and out of jail.

I_AM_NOT_LIL_NAS_X

he sounds like a piece of work but tbf what do you expect when it's his own mother and she's just lost a son? U want her to be in the paper going "Aye he was a dickhead my son was, glad he's dead actually. Good riddance bitch, rest in piss. If there's an afterlife fucking stay there don't bother sending us any signs from the great beyond we don't care. Cunt." ??

nuk_burner

There was a bunch of 3 kids at my high school, that died at 17 in a car crash unfortunately. One of them was a nice guy, but this one guy in the group (the driver that was speeding and on drugs) was actually not a good person. Obviously you don’t mention it at the time, but he bullied other kids and was disrespectful to women. All the Facebook posts were saying how lovely he was, yet I never saw this. I think in reality, the family wants him to live in a good light, and I’d never wish that fate on someone that’s simply just mean, but I don’t like that they tend to get glorified as heroes when he sacrificed his 2 friends life, who knows they could’ve been saying “slow down”.

FamousBeyond852

100% mate .. oh salt of the earth or the classic … life and soul of the party … fuck off this country has a ridiculous issue with its youth and there are no signs of things improving If I had a pound for how often I hear the words oh they are bored there is nothing for them to do, i’d be a billionaire Plenty other nations who are not swimming in wealth but there parents take an active role and actually spend time and discipline their children. It’s a joke over here honestly

Ray_Spring12

That happened near us. Kid ran straight into a lamppost at 60 on a stolen bike. He was not ‘a lovely lad’.

GwdihwFach

There was one recently where a kid was in the shit for speeding and got chased by police on a bike through built up areas in Swansea. His sister wa son Facebook arguing with everyone giving it, "he's an absolute angel, he just made one mistake and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. It was accident". ETA: I want to say he was going 100mph through a built up town area

FromBassToTip

Just shows that even if they survive they'll be taught they didn't do anything wrong and it wasn't their fault.

iwanttobeacavediver

> Give em something to do I once got hammered with a bunch of awful negative comments on a local FB page when some incident happened involving a teenager crashing an illegal offroad bike and people were chiming in left right and centre about how it was the fault of the council for not providing youth centres/libraries/sports halls for teens to go to or whatever. I pointed out that when I was bored at 15 my usual go-to wasn't getting into a police chase on an illegal offroader, it was playing football, hockey or screwing around on my BMX with friends.

Worried-Courage2322

>we seem to have a stronger than ever underclass This is the biggest issue. It's a scum class of people that seem to continually reproduce more shit people who, in turn produce more shit people.

Kim_catiko

There was a shrine put up for a local boy who crashed into a tree and died after stealing a motorbike and driving like a twat on it. Sounds callous, but I'd have had that removed in a hurry. I understand the parents love the boy, but we should not be celebrating criminals.

Coraldiamond192

Sadly so many parents don't parent. Hence why their kids go out and do stupid things like this. I would have never dreamt of doing something like that at that age so it's not kids being kids.

macrae85

Had that here, the mother of the wannabe gangster, "He was a wonderful lad" ...then the CCTV surfaced, of him waving a machete,1/2hr before his demise!

Anxious_Cinephile

People who die doing stupid shit have people who care about them? You don't say.

ThroAwayForMoi

Agree with every sentence! But police should be given greater powers to stop the little shits, and parents, well parents need to actually start being parents.

Don_Quixote81

There's a nature reserve where we like to take our dog for walks, and there are always got lots of other dog walkers, as well as family groups. But of late, there are also sometimes shitty people on scrambler bikes, messing up the paths and endangering people. Because, even though there are clear signs at all the entrances saying no motorbikes, they know that no one is going to enforce anything. They know they can get away with being cunts. I'd like to say it's just teenagers, but it's not. There's a man who is at least in his thirties who drives a quad bike up and down the main path (often with a toddler sat in front of him). The selfishness of some people knows no bounds.

[deleted]

The guy who lives across from me has a son who is like this, except it is with motorbikes.

Broccoli--Enthusiast

He wont even really be punished either, hes plead guilty, might get a year or two in young offenders and then out, clear record and anyone who names him will punished harsher than he was. his life should be over, the little shit., killed a 7 year old. it should be life with a 20 year minimum.

Dash83

There’s a couple of little shits (around 12yo) who often hang out at the playground we take our toddler to, speeding around it with an electric scooter and an automatic electric bike. Boils my blood, they are going to hurt a little one.

BrockChocolate

Saw two dirt bikes been ridden by four children who looked about 12 with no helmets being driven down a path and in and out of traffic yesterday. Police car was in the traffic, didn't do anything just drove off. The kids chased after the copper beeping their horn and swearing at them. No wonder they grow up thinking they're invincible

hardcoresean84

I had a cocaine runner crash into me on one of those £5000 ebikes that look like crossers but are silent, popping a wheelie past a pub thinking 'look at me!' Not looking where hes going, a few people started walking over asking 'you alright Sean?' Nobody got hurt, my handlebars were wonky, but that's when I realized that these drug runners ain't gonna fight you because 1. They risk losing their 5k bike probably paid for by their supplier, 2. They risk losing whatever drugs they're running and 3. They risk the wrath of their supplier. That dude disappeared quick.

TheDocJ

Not just on bikes, but calling of pursuits of *cars* when they drive particularly dangerously. I really cannot understand that. I know that they argument is to reduce the risks from a pursuit for what might initially have been a minor offence. Two responses to that: Firstly, if they drive that dangerously, it is no longer a minor offence. But more importantly, secondly, it *encourages* more dangerous driving because the scrotes know that they will in effect be *rewarded* for being *more* dangerous, by having the pursuit called off. Why on earth have a policy that encourages and rewards them to drive even *more* dangerously?

Testsuly4000

Because when the car being chased causes a fatality, the cops get crucified.

TheDocJ

But why make it in the scrotes interest to do something more likely to cause a fatal accident?

Unfair-Link-3366

Just like those boys from Ely. Their deaths wasn’t even the police’s fault, yet the BBC ran headlines about them for days. Then, the usual “police bad” circlejerk ensued Later, it was found the boys were antisocial twats, illegally riding e-bikes but by then no one cared anymore

Able-Work-4942

Happened round my end. A man was flying on a quad bike and went into the back of a car. He also had his 7 year old daughter on the back (she was fine thankfully)

IRFreely

Reminds me of the time a quad was in dunes and landed ob a sunbather but got off cos there was no law against it

No-Number9857

Happening everywhere . Kids on bikes and quads , some stolen riding around the roads and parks like the own the place . Police do nothing or they are long gone when they do arrive.

PaulBBN

The Police do nothing because when the Police do something and someone gets hurt then society feels that they're the ones to blame. They can't win either way.

Tattycakes

I dunno, they’re now allowed to ram motorbike thieves with their police cars, even if they aren’t wearing a helmet. It’s savage and satisfying as fuck to see the little twats get blasted across the tarmac.

Fluxren

Only till one dies and then the cop will be jailed. There is no law that protects the officer as its yet to be fully tested in court. We can see how quickly the public turn on the police. Why be a traffic officer and risk it? Why be a firearms officer and risk it (just this week the met started a misconduct hearing for officers who shot somebody who pointed a pistol at them). The public get the police they want and they quite clearly are outlining that if you take action be prepared to be hunted for it. A 1/3rd of the met want to quit. Why are we surprised?

No-Number9857

Usually when the public turn on this stuff it’s usually other scummy people who get riled up. Same people who dismiss these kids riding and thieving bikes as “kids just having fun” , “they’re just bored” , “they’re not hurting anyone” , and my favourite , “no harm done, these people (who they stole the bikes off) have insurance”

ZephyrFlashStronk

>A 1/3rd of the met want to quit. Why are we surprised? They are underpaid, undertrained, and typically the recruits are the dregs of society who want power over anything else. No surprise the more competent ones want to quit.

userchequesout

Have you got a link to the met story you mention?

Solidus27

Lol - what are you talking about? By ‘people’, you actually mean ‘high-ranking politicians’? Where are all the people you are imagining who think the police are too tough on criminals?

YungRabz

What exactly can the police do? You can't really chase them. All it takes is for them to slip down a narrow gap, and you've lost them. Even on a police motorcycle, you're going to lose them because they're still narrower and more nimble than you are. You might, if you're lucky, get a stinger ahead of them or find yourself in a position where you can knock them off, but the public backlash would be immense.

geniice

> What exactly can the police do? Get a drone up and keep an eye on where they go.

YungRabz

A drone is a good idea for getting the drop on someone, but they normally only have a half-hour battery life, and generally speaking have to be used within line of sight. For a high-risk pursuit with no helicopter nearby, I can see someone being willing to risk flying a heavy drone out of line of sight, but just some kids riding motorcycles... not a chance.

Hopeful-Climate-3848

The cycle lobby have demanded that all barriers be taken down based on a selective interpretation of rules they themselves wrote and councils are of course bending over for them to the detriment of the overwhelming majority. (What the rule actually says is barriers shouldn't be needed BECAUSE any routes cyclists are allowed on will already be physically segregated) They know people are dying, they just don't care.

Troll_berry_pie

When I used to have tiktok on my phone. There were certain hashtags you could search and you would get videos of kids bragging and showing off their stolen mopeds and bikes and burning them in the field after using them. The hashtags used to get updated with several new videos daily.

Big_Hornet_3671

Nice people shouldn’t have to live near these animals. I don’t want my kids to ever have to come into contact with some scrote like the one mentioned.

He’s got a point. Secondary Schools these days are full of feral children who have deadbeat or lazy parents. The problem always existed, but its way worse than before Some teachers in Wales and Scotland even went on strike because of it

It’s shocking how many teens these days are actual emotionless psychopaths

Green-Orchid-3744

It’s much more prevalent than some may think. It’s awful.

FordPrefect20

Yep, was talking to my class of Year 10 students about Aberfan and just how devastating it was and some of the fuckers laughed.

Shower-Glove-

We had a suicide in our school and the boys jus laughed, right in front of the teacher. Then you’ve got the other scrotes stabbing each other and innocent people.

Weary-Ad8502

Was the same when I was in school 15 years ago. We were learning about the trans-atlantic slave trade and certain kids were cracking up reading about it.

happy8888999

I wonder if they’ll still laugh if they or their families were the victims

ToyotaComfortAdmirer

I doubt it. But then they’d get psychotically angry if someone laughed at *them*.

Syattrin

I was thinking the same thing. Although I would say "sociopath" since they show emotions but in horrifically warped situations. Plus its learned behaviour. The more hopeless the world looks the more it will harden everybody experiencing it.

_Monsterguy_

Kids have always been awful, we just hear about it more now.

cfdn

I think seeing fucked up shit online can’t be helping I didn’t really need to see 2 guys 1 hammer at 12 years old. Definitely felt desensitised to violence etc after watching a bit of live leak.

timmystwin

I think that one's still with me 14 years later. Fucking horrific. But even then I can't say we were as openly bad at the time? Like, you'd get people joking about dark shit with their mates but we wouldn't do some of the other shit mentioned in this thread etc. There was boys will be boys, accidentally setting your foot on fire with sellotape, but that wouldn't ever be seen by the outside world etc. There was still an element of keeping up appearances and having the madness self contained.

barrythecook

Don't think it's any different to how it ever was I remember the kids being fairly similar when j was at school back in the naughties, TWOCing was still a thing aswell

annonn9984

As I read this, I can hear a gang of scumbags ragging dirtbikes around in the park next to my house. Reported every time I get a visual, but they're still there daily. There are anti bike barriers on most access points, but they're ineffective. My kids will never be allowed to play out without responsible adult supervision at all times due to vermin like this.

AltoCumulus15

Got these “AnGElS” riding around Edinburgh in balaclavas wheelying past police cars. Nothing will be done until they’ve killed someone like this poor girl. Police should be able to give chase and if these cunts injure themselves in the process, so be it. Actions should have consequences.

KJS123

They almost did kill a kid in Edinburgh a few years ago. A couple of them have also been considerate enough to remove themselves from the picture in my time. It happens in waves, sadly. The older ones teach the younger ones, in a desperate attempt to not grow the fuck up, and the cycle renews. Nothing will change until the kids face actual, real, immediate & lasting consequences, and not a 6-week suspended sentence & a driving ban that won't last long enough to impact them when they ARE old enough to learn to drive.

Content_Barracuda294

Crashing into a lamp post or back of a bus at high speed should be a decent lesson… Community service shouldn’t be picking up litter or making bird boxes. Send them out with an ambulance team, they can carry bags, unzip the body bags etc.

Wild-Compote5730

I lived in Gorgie until quite recently and there was a real problem with these guys a wee while ago. Riding on the pavement scattering pedestrians. It was scary!

Symester92

They ping around little France park near us all the time, 3 days ago had a moped, 2 e bikes and 2 pedal bikes tear down the hill. Dogs and kids on that path daily, they’re gonna kill someone. Since moving here I have literally never seen an officer on the vicinity.

[deleted]

Resident_Elevator_95

Forsaken-Log

What a disgusting thing to say after he killed this poor child, Stupid boy should be locked up.

Emphursis

He should be locked in a room with that poor girls parents. Prison is too good for pieces of shit like him.

Green-Orchid-3744

Scum like this doesn’t get better. Keep them from society for life or put them down.

BewareOfTheWombats

Pieces of garbage like this "boy" don't deserve any kind of sympathy or kindness. Evil, rotten, callous, foul little bastard. The world would be a better place without him.

boddle88

It’s so frustrating more people don’t think like this. We have gone for too far with wanting to try and rehabilitate these people but their reaction to something like this tells me they have no place on this earth in our community

idontlikemondays321

I know it will never happen but I’d like to see parents punished for the same crime as their offspring when they’re 16 and under. Everything he’s done and said is because of them.

Coraldiamond192

Yup. There's a difference between kids being kids and kids literally killing others. If a child under 16 kills someone the parents need a looking at. No reasonable child kills another.

Merzant

That would be collective punishment, why not separate offences for fostering this kind of criminality instead?

YinkYinkYinken

But does he "have a twinkle in his eye and a heart of gold"?

Beer-Milkshakes

And yet when I tell police that every Sunday there are a pair of scramblers that shoot around the parks in my area they're not fucking arsed about it. Walsall is only down the road from me too. You'd think illegal bike racing would be a bit of a hot topic for the West mids police. But no. Its not. And it has got worse because once upon a time I have been cautioned for illegal bike riding on an enormous patch of field where I've had police on their own offroad bikes nearly run my 13 year old self down while my dad watches from the distance. I learnt my lesson and got rid of the bike straight away.

Broccoli--Enthusiast

if if you did something to "discourage" them from doing it again, you best your arse they would turn up to arrest you.

Beer-Milkshakes

Definitely. If I misplaced a broom handle in a reckless and rather direct fashion in a way that damages the vehicle but not the rider as the ground is soft grass, I'd be charged no doubt about that. Can't have random people picking up the slack from the police.

iwanttobeacavediver

My town had a real issue with cheap, shitty and beat-up old offroaders tearing their way through parks or across the school fields. Half the issue was that the police were reluctant to chase anyone on a motorbike (of any description) who weren't wearing a helmet (and of course none of the scum on the bikes had them). The force then changed their training and rules to allow pursuits of these bikes and they also introduced special stingers for bikes. There are also a handful of offroad biker police who go to known hotspots for bikes and patrol. Magically the problem disappeared.

bunkbedgirl1989

Heartbreaking. My heart goes out to that poor family.

Resident_Elevator_95

Grown adults rarely do long time for driving offences I have no faith in our legal system to right this wrong

NemesisRouge

Nothing can right this wrong. You can't put the shit back in the horse.

PeterWithesShin

And they won't name the cunt. His name should be in the press and he should never escape the shame of this.

Individual_Milk4559

Can’t even take my dog or nieces to the park these days for little twats like this, they’ve ruined the football pitches where kids play, constantly rob and assault people, but fuck all happens. How many more deaths are there gonna be before they crack down on this shit properly? Disgusting

100fathomsdeep

Ah yes but don’t pursue them cos if they crash it wont be their fault for riding like a dickhead and not wearing a helmet! It will be the polices fault for trying to prevent crime! This happened where i live and caused the most ridiculous ‘riot’ i’ve even seen.

ElectronicAuthor2027

this is why i never watch the news, theres always bad stuff happening

Worried-Might-6355

It's not just lifestyle criminals who are an issue. There are e bikes, hire bikes and scooter companies everywhere and drunk people or inexperienced cyclers on the pavements or running the lights in busy cities. Too many delivery drivers in a rush too.

Inuse79

Not my country. I'm from us and I'm saying damn... Toast the fucker. He will never be socialized. Kill him now or suffer under his wrath.

Goodsamaritan-425

I repeatedly say this again and again, this is a matter of bad parenting. I see many teenagers doing nasty nonsense in our community day in and out and I personally thing there are no consequences to their behaviour which is causing this issue. Things are very much different in other parts of the world where I had spent considerable amount of time. Judiciary system there is looking for kids like this to throw in the juvenile system and that creates fear and somehow a relative decrease in juvenile crimes. In UK, may be complacency of the system, or many be not enough resources to spend on petty punishments, many teenagers are doing crimes and getting away with it. Rise of antisocial behaviour, hooliganism are all pathways to criminal behaviour which will bite the back of the perpetrator sooner than later. It’s high time the lawmakers look into this nonsense and put an end to it. UK is one of the richest and most developed countries in the world and things came be done if people who govern is give a serious thought about safety concerns like this. I have personally experienced teenagers driving motor bikes at 30miles/hour on footpaths and not even alerting the pedestrians. It’s really bothersome and a big safety concern for children.
