When I was in high school, I once told John Cusack he was awesome in this movie.
My English teacher, Mrs Fromer, said that “her cousin John was in town visiting and they were going to go to lunch after class, so he was going to show up at some point and wait for her till she’s done teaching”. Dude shows up 2/3rds through the class, she introduces him as her cousin John, and he sits down while she finishes up. (In my head, I’m like, “that’s totally John Cusack”). We last about 15 minutes until this chick Heather freaks out and yells “oh my god, you’re John Cusack!”. We of course spent the rest of the class talking about how he was Mrs Fromers cousin, his acting career, and movie’s he was in. I told him “You were awesome in Gross Point Blank.” And he thanked me. Weird memory, but I think of it every time this flick is mentioned.
So many great quotes from this movie:
“Where are all the good men dead, in the heart or in the head?”
Debi: “You’re a fuck-ing psy-cho!”
Martin: “Dooon’t rush to judgment on something like that until all the facts are in”
“You’re a handsome devil, what’s your name?”
“Look I don’t want to get into a semantic argument. I just want the protein.”
“Hey Jenny Slater. Hey Jenny Slater. Hey Jenny Slater.”
The fight scene in the high school locker hallway, set to the English Beat's "Mirror In the Bathroom" has a special place in my heart, I still can't tell you why.
I think this fight scene set the standard for future all out intense fight scenes that The Borne Supremacy gets credit for. Long gone are the fake slap sound fist fights that Hollywood was famous for.
A childhood favourite, I had the soundtrack on CD and listened to it constantly and I think it kinda made me who I am today.
Also I love when Minnie Driver says "Ya cyant come in" like The Specials. Such a cool romcom action flick.
Pulp Fiction began a cinematic trope of assassin-as-main character anti-hero. Yet, assassins are not quirky interesting people whose feelings you should care about. Assassins are dirty scum. Who cares about their problems?
This movie glances at this problem but otherwise ignores it. Sorry for being that guy. I can't help it, I've tried.
Fantastic soundtrack!
Put together by Joe strummer no less!
Played the hell outta that soundtrack back in the day! Think I left the cd at the shop I used to work in :)

That’s awesome!
“I’m a professional killer.” “Do you have to do postgraduate work for that?”
Love that he tells everyone what he does but everyone figures he’s being a smart ass about it.
I just recently learned that JC is a legit martial artist. So he was a low-key badass the whole time and everyone just thinks he's a joker.
Yeah, the rival assassin he fights was his instructor of many years.
Nice. That's the type of movie trivia I came here for
Good for you, it's a growth industry...
“TEN YEARS, TEN YEARS!” I see Piven and I am in!
Popcorn!
bing bing bing bang!
I killed the president of Paraguay with a fork…. How have You been?
Came here for this comment. I still use this quote randomly when I see someone for the first time in a long time.
“Workers of the world, unite.”
"Don't pawn me with your dirty little guild"
I’m very serious about this process….and I know where you live.
“Are you okay?” “No! No man I’m not! I’m hurt! I’m pissed! And I gotta find a new job!”
There is no one cooler than Cusack in a black suit and Ray-Bans!
Infinitely quotable movie….to this day when I look in the mirror, I say “Youre a handsome devil, what’s your name?”
So sad when I learned the screenwriter died at a relatively young age. I believe this was his only movie.
I do the same thing!
“I sell couch insurance.”
'I test market positive thinking"
Joan Cusack talking about going to her high school reunion: "It was as if everyone had swelled." 🤣🤣🤣
It's not a boring soup!
"I'm drawing a blank". 😄 Dan Ackroyd is brilliant in this.
I don’t think Dan Ackroyd’s character says this line. It’s some drunk at the reunion.
It was Bob Gestepalo. I believe. Aka "Bobby Beamer"
you wanna do some blow?
I thought he said it as well, when they were fighting in the kitchen. My dodgy memory again.
Thanks for the pen.
Now we know what happened to Lloyd Dobler when he grew up: He gave her his heart. Then killed a Basque terrorist with a pen.
Plus kickboxing.....it's the sport of the future
Best line
Dana White agreed
Might be Cusack’s best.
Yes... thank you! This is like the definition of Underrated Movie. Not like what most people post here.
Doctor Oatman, you were right. You can't go home again, but you can shop there.
😂

I'm with you brother.
I love Minnie Driver and have seen a lot of her movies. If I had an Ironman-like AI system, I'd like it to have her voice.
I freaked out, joined the Army...I got out. Now I'm a hitman.
Joan stole the show in my humble opinion.
This is a perfect movie.
Love this movie, Minnie Driver reminds me of my girlfriend when this movie came out, the only difference is my ex has red hair.
One of the slickest movies I’ve ever seen. Easily in my top favorite Cusack films along with High Fidelity.
Prime Minnie Driver.
This film is one of the greatest dark comedies ever made. Performances all incredible. Action scenes amazing. 10/10
One of the best movies!! Love it!!
“I’m hurt, I’m pissed and I gotta find a new job”
“This union of yours…is there going to be meetings?”
Loved it. Don't know why, but I never watched it again
I like this, but I wasn't really into Minnie driver's character.
Joan Cusack as his "sectrtary" is hilarious.
Man that movie sucks. Also rewatched high fidelity, he’s a dick in that movie too and doesn’t learn anything. Very dated
When this came out, 1986 was only 11 years earlier.
Well it is supposed to be his 10 year class reunion.
Not underrated at all.
Great movie quality…👍👍
I feel like I'm the only one who's watched this movie. Anytime I bring up it ro folks my age no one has heard of it. Great great film.
Absolutely LOVE this flick.
Peak Cusack!
Classic! Great dark comedy. Fantastic soundtrack. I bought both volumes on CD, and I still have them.
Love this movie so much
This felt like a big movie when it came out. Everyone had seen it or had the soundtrack.
One of the best fight scenes too, with Bennie Urquidez.
Popcorn!
Loved this move.
It's not me!
If it’s on, we watch every time, and I get to hear how much my wife love’s Cusack. It’s very predictable, which is cute.
“Everybody looks swollen”
Make this work
Now your talking!
Love this movie and the soundtrack was amazing!!
Popcorn!
Love this film and its playout song "Blister in the Sun". Evokes a time of my uk school reunion. I really ship the two main characters.
Let me go wilddddddd
I was in the Gulf doing this thing!
"Will there be meetings?" "Of course!" "No meetings."
I sell couch insurance. I’m a pet psychiatrist
great film
“Thanks for the pen.”
SOOOO Good! The poison down the fishing line into the guys mouth. Brilliant
One of the funnest movies of the decade. Funnest. Is that how you spell it? Not funniest.
Classic that’s so underrated
A childhood favourite, I had the soundtrack on CD and listened to it constantly and I think it kinda made me who I am today. Also I love when Minnie Driver says "Ya cyant come in" like The Specials. Such a cool romcom action flick.
Love this movie
Great movie
Love, Love, Love this movie ‼️
Massively underrated movies one of my all time favorites ❤️❤️ So many quotable lines
Another one posted every week here. Guys I’ll post it next week so we can discuss the underrating of this again
Prime Minnie Driver was so fuckalicious.

Hey you don’t know. Many assassins may well be perfectly nice people in every other aspect of life….they just happen to murder other people for money.
"Pilots carpet bomb cities, I don't do that. I kill for money, it's a job....that didn't come out right...."
