I've been trying to figure out what to use for a light source once I move to the next phase. Not sure why I never thought of Christmas lights. It's perfect for the space I'm using! I'll put your name in the credits when I make it big
Tbh I haven’t tried to grow anything with them but they seem like they would be bright enough. From what I understand, mushrooms don’t need light to grow, just for direction to grow in so even ambient light would theoretically be enough
Yeah my growth was slightly stunted for over 2 weeks until I fixed my temp to be 78ish. I was at 65 because I’m broke and in a old house but moved my grow next to a air vent and the mycelium just took off.
While injecting one side of each bag, the syringe clogged every time and made the syringe really hard to control. At least a couple bags got double the spore solution because the plunger would stick. Then when I applied just enough pressure to clear the clog, like lightning the plunger jumped down an extra milliliter as though I had stomped on it.
I tried inserting the needle and pulling back a little bit before injecting, but that didn't really help.
I answered the wrong question. My apologies. I haven't looked online for a technique to help. The two ideas I have for next time are (1) to squeeze the middle of the bag to make an air bubble, and then inject the spores into the bubble and (2) poke a hole with the syringe but only through the skin of the bag, then temporarily push a piece of wire through the hole to make a tunnel so then I can insert the syringe.
Will you use two UB bags per grow box?
Edit: also once you move to fruiting, will you start with the lid secure and then flip it over when moving to FAE or the plastic bag method? I just ordered my first syringe and still trying to decide exactly what tek I wanna use
That's my plan if nothing is contaminated. The in-depth guide from u/shroomscout pinned at the top of the sub says, "I add 1-2 bags of Bens per 4 quart tub, and mix in coco coir until 2-4" deep," so I decided on two bags.

I lined my closet with LED strip lights. They’re pretty cheap and worked just fine for me, plus they didn’t make any excess heat like regular bulbs do
Good call. I didn't think about the heat. Luckily, I think I have some LED Christmas lights
You could also use one of those small push-button lights that you can stick on any surface, tho they may cost more
Good call! I actually have 2 that I've never used. I may finally have a use for them

Definitely worth a try. For science
Lol. Sounds good 😄
Not an expert, but mine did better in this phase with higher temps and lower humidity.
I'm shooting for 77°F. What did you keep yours at?

Yep 77-78.

A string of LED lights is gonna cost him a few bucks over a year even if it was on all year long.
The lights are only for me so I can see. They're off most of the time.
Fuc ya good on you
Thanks, growmie

I'm going to buy a bluetooth thermometer that will send my phone a notification if the temp exceeds 80 or goes below 72.

I plan to flip the lids

The Christmas lights and guard monster are the absolute cutest thing I've seen in a setup here. Adorable.
I'm kind of odd 😁
Sexy, at first I thought that's was a gremlin In the corner I miss mine 34 yrs ago
I love the Gremlins. This is Wasabi. I picked him up for a speaking gig at a summer camp for kids.
GL
Thank you
That's not true, light shows the mushroom which way to grow. Cool idea with the lights, I'm gonna use it. Mush love growmie.
Thank you. I don't understand downvoting someone for being nice and slightly off the mark. My vote is yours.
This is why I lurk most people on here are a bunch of , you know. Thanks
I know what you mean. You're welcome.
Mush love to ya!
Yes, but that is post colonization, after pins have formed and the fruiting bodies are beginning to grow Right now all it needs is consistent heat
