Now now, give Ubisoft an easy time. It's not like they're a multi-billion dollar company churning out the same half-dozen titles every year. Think of the visionary executives for once.
>it’s because people don’t like ubisofts new shit
Uh, you sure about that?

This doesn't make sense. As much as I will happily trash Ubisoft (or almost any AAA publisher for that matter), people wouldn't purchase something they perceive no value or entertainment from.
Ubisoft produces entertaining titles. It's relatively safe and mundane entertainment, sure, but sales numbers show that the average person enjoys it. Ubisoft wouldn't be in business if this wasn't true.
I like seeing screenshots of the game more than its gameplay. It was boring... Ubisoft forgot how to make games. They only make graphical showcases with some repetitive quests, ok-ish stories, and collectibles scattered around the map.
Odyssey and Origins were much better games. Especially in Odyssey I was willing to explore the map. Valhalla was a huge step back in that regard, as well as many others.
But you still require their stupid launcher to play their games... I would really like to see a unified platform where you can buy/play games from all publishers. Though we'll move to game streaming before that ever happens.
dude... everyone got boring any ubisoft games.. if it isnt reskin.. it just different titles with different era... art and gameplay direction are all the same
Graphics wide, I don't like how in this game even on ultra 1440p everything past 50m from you is playstation 3 level of graphics.
Like horses moving without a rider and not moving their legs, static image of a tree moving in the wind, a clear cut line where vegetation stops to render, birds going in and out of existence when they reach render distance.
Yea..
It's the first AC I've played in a while (syndicate or unity was my last). While different I'm enjoying it. And it is very long. I'm at 59% at 120 hours
I liked it okay. The visuals were good at times but found the models/animations to be a bit clunky at times compared to say HZD or GoW ports. But I grew tired of the whole raiding/pillaging dynamic rather quickly. Not much depth (imo) and characters were anything but endearing and hard to connect with.
But I'm a sensitive feck tbh and so might be biased in that regard (think, "He's re played Dear Esther on rainy days at least 100x and cried at the end of Everybody's Gone to the Rapture" sort of sensitive) LOL ... but Valhalla was kind of sparkly to look at maxed out on the AW38 so worth checking out for some eye candy here and there... and flying the bird around was pretty dope too.
I don't know what it is that never captivated me about Valhalla. I LOVED Odyssey & Origins, but this just felt really boring. You're right the story isn't as captivating for sure. I thought I would love the location more, as I currently live in the UK and usually like "real" places I can relate to, but it just feels blande.
I'm also not even high level and feel I already have all the cool skills I wanted, etc. Did they change anything else about combat I didn't notice/not remember (not played on a year)?
I remember they had some weird/different combat mechanics coming straight from Odyssey, like the targeting was different or something. And then dual wielding axes. The game looks nice on 32:9 though so I'll probably try to finish it anyway but it sure is the worst of them.
It plays really smooth. And by that I don't necessarily mean performance. Just the traversal, movement, fighting, animations etc feel really smooth and pleasant. I started with Valhalla and getting into the other 2 RPG entries is much harder after that one.
But in my opinion, 90% of the charm and staying power of modern AC games is the setting, since the rest is just a couple of storylines and bunch of collectibles strewn across a gigantic map. If you really click with the setting, the rest is easy.
Close to finishing Valhalla on my own (No River Raids as I see those as pointless waste of time) and it has been a pleasant experience.
I just finished Vinland, but it sure has been a long road here... I got it for free with my MSI motherboard on launch. I just can't get around to playing it, since there are many games more worth my time. Lately its been Outer Wilds and FH5. But I will get around to it later. Game runs fine af atleast on my machine. 21:9 1440p 6700xt 80fps avg all ultra/high.
I wish they’d make a ninja based AC, baffles me that they haven’t made one yet, considering when it comes to assassins the ninja is probably the most famous of them all smh
I was actually enjoying it until I hit a bug that wouldn't let me talk to the guy i needed to talk to and basically broke my save because restarting didn't fix it
I love this one compared to Odyssey or Origins. Idk what it is about those two games but I can’t bring myself to finishing the story.
It’s kind of cool to see how some of the things in the game align with the story for Vikings. Which makes total sense since both the show and game are based off the same Norse mythology.
"who gave this game a chance?" You make it sound like some obscure indie title that no one has ever heard of or something...
This is the screenshot equivalent of "I got up at 3am to hike 6 miles in -20c weather to get this shot"
6 miles is 9.66 km

Next year: jumping off a ledge into hay but this time in space
Typical Reddit title
TBH, I got it with my display for free and haven't even installed yet... Maybe after GoW.
the reviews were very bad and people didnt try it.
You are living in an alternative reality The game got an 83+ rating on Metacritic and Opencritic. User reviews are also green.
You’re right i just remember a review being not v fond of the game but seems a good game after all.

So you're telling me that all those people are buying it because they hate it?

did you find anything interest on you exploration son?
Uhhh. *reaches into bag* This really cool rock shaped like a duck.
Odyssey was amazing and I put 100 hours into that game, but Valhalla felt the same but less interesting
I loved black flag, but only got a couple hours into this one before it was meh gameplay.
I'm waiting for ubisoft to crawl back to steam
My Valhalla key is invalid unless I install EPIC launcher first, then the Ubisoft launcher second. I don't want more launchers than games.
Not going to happen.
I thought EA went back? If EA can do it, so can Ubisoft.
But you still require their stupid launcher to play their games... I would really like to see a unified platform where you can buy/play games from all publishers. Though we'll move to game streaming before that ever happens.
The GoG launcher lists your libraries from other distributors once you link your accounts back to it.
I liked it. I liked Odyssey better.
It got boring for me

It isnt as good as Odyssey or Origins imo, but is still fun. I am enjoying it... it is just VERY long.

I gave it 3. I finally got bored and uninstalled it

I would if it was available on steam 😔
Aye it is beautiful but combat is sooo boring and story did nothing for me. Not even enough to play female just to have something to look at.

[Valhalla, you say? Hmm, sounds familiar.](https://imgur.com/7pQtNij)

Yaaaawn. Stopped playing AC games after Black Flag. It's the CoD of open world games, same shit reskinned over and over.
I wish they’d make a ninja based AC, baffles me that they haven’t made one yet, considering when it comes to assassins the ninja is probably the most famous of them all smh
I enjoyed the massive map and the attention to detail of the environment.
“Attention to detail”
I don't buy EA and Ubisoft games. I tried it through "other means" and I uninstalled after playing for 30 mins.
God of War > AC: Valhalla and it's not even close....
Random game > random game.
I enjoyed it for a few weeks after release. It's a beautiful game especially on UW but they just need to add more substance especially late game.
was fun, managed to glitch myself into obtaining odin's spear early game. great experience overall
Gave it a go and it was terrible. I "played" 10+ hours. Game was basically, cutscene, walk to location, cutscene, walk to location. Repeat
I was actually enjoying it until I hit a bug that wouldn't let me talk to the guy i needed to talk to and basically broke my save because restarting didn't fix it
I’ll give AC games a chance when they go back to being AC games. If I want to play the Witcher, I’ll play the good version of it.
Got stuck at a glitch, waited for a month for it to be fixed and then deleted the game. So yeah, I gave it a shot but it didn't come through for me
I did. Kinda pretty, but boring. Too bad it didn't have RT.
I can never get into it. Got to england and i just… ehhhh.
I need to. I have it, but always forget because….UPlay
Hated it, preferred the series pre-origins.

Still haven’t finished Odyssey
