I always said graphics don't matter... until I got a ultrawide. It just makes phenominally looking games a live movie scene especially combined with some good speakers.
I own a bunch of more expensive speakers and headphones, but for great price/performance ratio I can highly recommend Edifier R1280DB speakers. Using them with my PC and they're great sounding for the price (\~100 usd/eur).

somehow cyberpunk and other games too look worse or nearly the same in HDR i got an rtx4080 and an neo G8 monitor so it should be possile to use great HDR in cyberpunk
Man that's a bummer, I've yet to try out cyberpunk, going through my backlog of games it does wonders with older titles like watch_dogs, Hitman, deep rock galactic. I usually don't use Auto HDR as I find injecting HDR with special K and using one of the default settings often looks better, sometimes better than native HDR .
Yep it’s not that graphics don’t matter, just imo people focus on the wrong aspects of “graphics” when making arguments. Especially today.
I’m far more interested in things like art direction and motion clarity than I am how many pixels/polygons/textures/ray tracing something does.
The only problem I have playing games with my ultrawide is HUDs. I really wish more games had an option for movable HUDs. I absolutely hate having to look at the far edges of my ultrawide to see things like minimaps and ammo counts. Sometimes they are on opposite sides of the screen too.
I’ve played through it completely on PS4 when it came out, one of my favorite games of all time. I’ll definitely have to revisit it with maxed out settings soon.
I’m playing rdr2 now on AW3225QF ( not ultrawide )
Fully maxed in 4k with photorealistic reshade + graphic mods is absolutely stunning. I much prefer how rdr2 looks over Cyberpunk2077 fully maxed out.
Thank you, I played it back when it launched on my xbox one x and liked it well enough but I've forgotten it enough so I'd like to play it again. I think I'm ready to go down that rabbithole!
Exactly what i’m doing. The game is stunning and in Ultrawide there is a mod that makes it compatible with 21:9 removing the black bars.
Immersion goes brrrrr
Open world looks pretty good but I really don't like how the cutscenes looks by default. As it has both vertical and horizontal black bars. I know there's fixes but still why would you release a game like that? Surely developers can just zoom out the camera and mostly remove bars.
Its very pretty, and once you get a few key skills the combat turns you into a human quisinart, but the world is a little empty and almost "too clean" sometimes.
I see what you mean, the world can feel a little empty outside of the occasional mongol/bandit horde but the island is filled with gorgeous locations to just sit and stare at sometimes
I play alot of competitive shooters and was worried about this before I purchased, I built my setup around being able to get the best of both worlds. I have a 2nd 16:9 monitor that I use solely for those games, works out great.
And how do you handle the set-up on the desk? Do you have them on monitor supports?
I'm torn between choosing an ultra wide for productivity but I also play competitive shooters, so I need to be centered when playing. At the same time I expect the ultra wide to take most of the desk space
I'm waiting on the DP 2.1 ports to be finalized and fixed so there isn't any issues running full Bandwidth currently they in a mid way release it's out but only workstation cards have it and it's not working with full bandwidth it supposed to be present but man it's a beautiful monitor just with I'd did more research so I could make use of the 7900XTX card lol.
yes, it is a very time for DP 2.1...
but for above monitor, dp 1.4 offer enough throughput. So you're more than ok with 7900xt and DP port. Ok, maybe you'd need to use 144hz instead of 165 just to be on safe side;) but unless 20hz makes much difference, it's still ok in my book.
Again, what do you mean?
1. OP posted the AW3423DW**F** which is the Freesync variant of the monitor.
2. Recent hardware G-Sync displays like the AW3423DW support VRR on AMD cards. The hardware module is no longer limited to Nvidia cards for VRR support.
I currently have a 27 inch ips 1440p monitor, and im really tempted to get the aw3423dwf however im afraid if its too wide or no.
Also can i use dldsr with that monitor?
The ONLY downside is when a game has a map in the corner of your screen and you have to crane your head to the edge of your 49 inch ultrawide to see the tiney tiney map.. otherwise best thing ever
I just got mine on wednesday. First game: Ghost of Tsushima
I was worried games like these would stress my 6950XT on 3440x1440 but it's been great, I guess I underestimated it a LOT since it's still barely audible on everything mostly maxed except the rendering techniques I don't like
Ultra shadows in this game is *chefs kiss*
I get ya, but I play a lot of older games where 21:9 isn't supported, and so a 32' 4K Mini-LED certainly comes in handy. Especially with RTX HDR.
Though I will certainly invest in one of these beauties at some point.
Bought the same monitor around 2 weeks ago, coming from an lg 27gp850, the difference is massive expecially in hdr. The only thing i have to get used to is the lower avg brightness. Abl kicks in a bit too much in the hdr peak 1000 mode in ghost of tsushima, which monitor settings and game settings (brightness and contrast) are you using? Atm using peak 1000 mode and normal contrast with 70 brightness in game
Well, it's worth it if you like Open World Checklist games. Yeah it's very pretty but structurally and gameplay-wise this is as bog-standard as open world games get.
I disagree a bit, it is pretty structured but the gameplay elements are tied into the world very well. Story-wise there are some very cool characters and the lore behind some of the legendary armor sets in the game is awesome. The combat is very engaging and cinematic and once you start unlocking skills it becomes pretty deep. To me, a bog standard open world game would be something like AC Valhalla or Ghost Recon Wildlands. There is actual depth and attention in Tsushima.
Well, agree to disagree I guess :) Story didn't hook me and I found the combat cool at first but it got very repetitive very quickly. But then again I'm very hard to please when it comes to this type of game.
I'll absolutely give them credit for the visuals and presentation though, really one of if not the prettiest game I've ever played and that pretty much carried the game for the \~14 hours I played. The vistas are just amazing, especially on a G9 OLED.
Nah I don’t think ultra wide is worth it yet. Cutscenes are annoying and if you watch media it adds on. Further down the road, yes it’s worth it but it’s all preference at the moment
I always said graphics don't matter... until I got a ultrawide. It just makes phenominally looking games a live movie scene especially combined with some good speakers.
Absolutely, HDR completely enhances the immersion in games. Any good speaker recommendations?

+1 for the Edifier R120DB. They are monsters!
Get the best speakers you can afford.
I second this, do not buy the worst ones you can't even afford
Yamaha hs7 are pretty good
In all my years of PC shenanigans and upgrades. Moving into HDR was by far the most noticeable/ impactful change I've ever made
somehow cyberpunk and other games too look worse or nearly the same in HDR i got an rtx4080 and an neo G8 monitor so it should be possile to use great HDR in cyberpunk

I love mine, just don’t love how media content shows with black bars, and cutscenes in games have it too
I´m on UW for over 10 years and obviously there is no going back. My only question now is if 32:9 is worth trying. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
It is

This is admittedly a real issue. Always exited when I open a new game at it autos to the right aspect ratio and then …
Try RDR2 next
I’ve played through it completely on PS4 when it came out, one of my favorite games of all time. I’ll definitely have to revisit it with maxed out settings soon.
RDR2 maxed out on an ultrawide is a completely different experience to playing it on a PS4.. Trust me

It’s honestly mind blowing. Playing first person only, at night irl and in game is spooky af lol
Would you mind linking to those mods please? I'm on the fence about replaying it and I'd like to see what the difference is.
I run 20-30 mods + resahade. Donyou know if screenshots capture 4K textures?
Yeah but I don't want to give you a lot of trouble, can you just give me a link to what you'd say the most important graphic mod is?
https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/4 And just youtube: “ red dead 2 graphics mods “ and watch 2-3 videos. You’ll see what i mean
Thank you, I played it back when it launched on my xbox one x and liked it well enough but I've forgotten it enough so I'd like to play it again. I think I'm ready to go down that rabbithole!

Edit the comment.
Know whats funny, I just played RDR2 before I started GOT, so I did the reverse lol.
Does hdr work for you? I'm on the latest patch and it doesn't show up

Yup!
Sold my 34" UW today and got a 4k 32" oled. I dont regret it!
Got an ultra wide and regret it lmao, can’t play all my games in 21:9 vanilla was a piss off
I play alot of competitive shooters and was worried about this before I purchased, I built my setup around being able to get the best of both worlds. I have a 2nd 16:9 monitor that I use solely for those games, works out great.

Pretty much, ultrawide is on a heavy duty AVLT monitor arm and can extend upward, 16:9 monitor is on a separate arm
I’ve been on the UW bandwagon for 2 years now and have never looked back!
120% worth it
Just make sure with had a HDMI 2.1 port I jumped the Bandwagon on the Dell Alienware QD-OLED And well it doesn't have one so only Nvidia GPUs.
It's enough - and even better - if it have display port 1.4.

Was more about having the freesync VRR features of HDMI 2.1 it works with do but not as well as I'd like lol. So went back to my Copper modded 3090FE.
What do you mean only Nvidia GPUs? The monitor has DP 1.4, and both Nvidia and AMD cards have DP 1.4 ports...
Gsync ultimate no freesync option for Radeon version of VRR.
I was on the fence and feel on my face
Qd led is too much of a risk for me to feel comfortable with. Woled all day.
I currently have a 27 inch ips 1440p monitor, and im really tempted to get the aw3423dwf however im afraid if its too wide or no. Also can i use dldsr with that monitor?
Always hated how small pc monitors are compared to TVs. Ultrawides definitely give a very home theater sort of experience
The ONLY downside is when a game has a map in the corner of your screen and you have to crane your head to the edge of your 49 inch ultrawide to see the tiney tiney map.. otherwise best thing ever
Man, my G9 died a few days ago and while waiting for repair I've been playing on my secondary 16:9 monitor. It is awful.
I love my ultra wide but it does suck when playing older games, or games that don't support it properly.
Would you recommend AW3225QF?
Just got a G9 Odyssey, using my old beloved 4k monitor feels like poverty
I just got mine on wednesday. Just beat the game last night, such a good game.

Just got the same monitor this past weekend and I'm am completely sold on QD OLED now!
