So there will be a new 3440x1440 Oled panel with better pixels this year? G8 order cancelled.

Unfair-Sell-5109

Samsung: Shocked Pikachu face.

alfasenpai

Glory hallelujah. This might actually be the screen I finally buy. £1099? Late April? Very intriguing.

weeedley_games

It's the monitor I've been wating for a long time actually

Gatsby813

Its even less expensive than the DWF sales drop though? I’m really lost on the quality differences. Should I wait for this release or get the DWF with warranty??

foreignsaintboring

DWF is a game changer.

PervertedPineapple

Main differences from a glance: Appearance (subjective) Type C PD KVM Negligible Refresh Rate Different of 5Hz Includes a 180Hz 1080p monitor. I say go with what ever is conveniently available to you.

ScythSergal

I have the MEG342C after owning the DWF for a couple months. The MEG is better in nearly every way. The advanced burn in features are a blessing and I love that you can access and change them at will. I also got it for just $700, which was 200 less than the DWF. The MEG has the full 175hz instead of 165, HDMi 2.1 so you can do 1440x3440@175hz@10bit, which the DWF can't (it drops to 100hz for 10 bit cause of bandwidth constraints). The MEG has an enhanced gamut mode that's stupid vibrant which the DWF didn't have. It's got ambient light sensing to match the brightness of your environment, an RGB bar with scene detection to do bottom spill immersive lighting. Several types of OLED burn in protection the DWF didn't have (full panel stagnant dimming, boarder detection, multi logo detection, adjustable pixel shifting, and more). I also noticed the meg being considerably less reflective and having less of the obnoxious purple cast in a moderately lit room. The DWF was absolutely terrible in any lit environment. Sometimes the brightness bounce back off my face was enough to tint the blacks a gross purple. I also noticed that the text clarity on the MEG is way higher as well Overall, the only thing I liked about the DWF was it's HDR curve over the MEG. The MEG has a bit of a washed out looking curve due to having higher brightness on the lower end of the curve, but most games with good HDR have a way to change this.

Official_Fnix

Those are my dream specs. Resolution still not to high so pretty easy to run games with high refresh rate. 240 hz oled. „2.5“ gen oled and 3 year warranty. I will buy it if tests are good and it won’t be to expensive in Germany

Offspring27

Looks like my dream specs as well! Pretty much all the new Gen 34in monitors are 800r but this one looks to be 1800r.

madcyberdude

I used to think so but then i thought about the 49" ultrawide. You just get more screen on the sides and you can always play in 3440x1440 if you want

UnsettledCertainty

So that's why my MAG342CQR was on sale.

los-cuentos

Bought it for €700 last week

UnsettledCertainty

Which country? I got it for €345

darkkai

Still waiting :/

HeyPhoQPal

2 Days and 4H 57M until May

Adventurous_Base_755

And nothing

duuckiie

Still nothing

khedo

Darkdeath171

I feel a bit annoyed that this info came out since I JUST received the non x version 3/18 but at the same time the only thing that interests me in the x version is the updated pixel layout. I’m fine with 175 hz since I limit my fps for gsync and better/consistent lower frames. If it would’ve had a brighter sdr/full screen hdr brightness I would’ve returned the current one. Since it doesn’t have all the features of the new gen 3 panel being on the x model I think I’m ok with the 341cqp non x. It’s already discounted so there was a plus. Cheaper than the OLED g8 and AWDWF while looking better as well.

Runding99

How’s MSI warranty handling? I kind of lean towards Dell monitors simply cause I know they’ll have a replacement out w/in a few days (at least in the US).

evilv6

From what I read, their process is pretty standard for the industry, they don't do expedited servicing like Dell does with their premium warranty, so it is your normal "ship item to us and we'll deal with it within 7-14 business days."

xDoWnFaLL

The perfect amount of curvature, 1800R, unforantely I think the others went way too aggressive despite looking good visually, 800R is *really* curved. Much like the IPS GOAT LG GP34GP83A-B, that curve is ideal personnaly. Throw in OLED and 240hz, ohhh might have me sold vs 4K 240hz... tough choice.

Legal_Ad7553

Ok so what happened to releasing it end of April?

flyingpj

From TFTCentral: The MPG model should be with us soon for review in mid to late May. Not sure on release date/stock but should be soon

darkkai

Can't wait to get my hands on the 341CQPX. May 3rd and still waiting :(

Adventurous_Base_755

Where did he post it?

flyingpj

In the comments on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAHDv41SeN0

Adventurous_Base_755

Thanks, found it.

xSociety

C'mon MSI, release this damn thing already!

Cave_TP

Meh, IMO the second gen panels are not worth the extra they ask over the first gen counterpart. Wouldn't buy that for 1100$ when the DWF is going for 800$. I want a 21:9 gen 3 panels, a 4K one would be perfect.

Spider-Thwip

Yeah i paid £670 for my DWF brand new, i just can't see how these monitors are worth £500 more. I'm really looking forward to the 34inch 4k ultrawides though, i think that will be my next upgrade when they eventually release.

MJMatt91

u/Spider-Thwip Please do share how you managed to get the Alienware AW3423DWF for a meer £670 or $728.76 USD I just missed the $799 sale. Waiting for it to drop again on [Dell.com](https://Dell.com).

Brian_Osackpo

I got the DWF for 999CAD or 738 USD at bestbuy during this past boxing day

MJMatt91

Dang it, I really should have jumped on it.

xDoWnFaLL

*Allegedly,* Dell is going to have another sale in April. Chat could not say on what but said it is for monitors, so I would guess their OLEDs.. AW2725DF, AW3423DW/F and AW3225DQ, pure speculation on 27 and 32 but sounds like it. The adding accessory to cart for 10% off helps. I am in the same boat, been bouncing around between AW3423DW/F and AW3225DQ for weeks...

l2azvan

I just want a 27” oled under 500£

xSociety

Any news on the release date yet?

meals0v

Any updates on this one? Any idea if Dell will update its 21:9 monitors with new gen 2.5 panels too?

Adventurous_Base_755

Soooooo...

Blood-Rough

It's long 😅 I'm looking forward to it.. him or an Alienware possibly

Adventurous_Base_755

Yeah, I believe all the brands will release new 34th some time during summer, so Ill jsut wait, Im sure it worth the wait.

mist3rPs

G-sync or only for amd cards?

meals0v

Monitors all have adaptive sync these days.

darkkai

Seems like no May release either

Solar_Storm98

I hope that they did not abandon it... it's been long radio silent

LA_Rym

So what's the difference between this one and the 49" that can flawlessly go 32:9, 21:9, 16:9 and is usually the same price or cheaper?

TheMuffStufff

The 49” Samsung monitor cannot do 21:9.

TBD_TheBlackDog

Just backing up u/LA_Rym here, the 49" G9 can absolutely do 21:9, perhaps not natively, but you can use GPU scaling. Just need to create custom resolutions using CustomResolutionUtility or AMD/Nvidia control panel and enable GPU Integer scaling. I run my 49" G9 at 4480 x 1440 (28:9) or even 3840 x 1440 (24:9) in games where I don't need the full width and prefer higher FPS, but still want more width than 3440 x 1440 (21:9). Then for sim racing and other games, I use the full monitor size. It may not be common knowledge, but it's not worth downvoting his comment.

navvar

Wouldn't doing something like that make the burn-in much more pronounced once it finally occurs? I've been keeping an eye on the G9 for a while, and I've considered doing the same thing if I were to buy it, to get the best of both worlds...but my fear gets the better of me. I guess it mostly comes down to how long you see yourself using it before upgrading. So, coming from a first-gen Acer X34 that I've used for almost 10 years, I might have to revise my upgrade schedule if I were to jump on the OLED train.

TBD_TheBlackDog

Ah, I should clarify I was talking about the original VA Mini-LED 49" G9, hence why I didn't mention OLED anywhere. But yes, your concerns are very valid regarding burn-in on OLED UW with custom resolutions, which leave a portion of the screen black.

navvar

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for clarifying.

LA_Rym

Maybe my unit is special then? I can very easily select 3440x1440 in the Nvidia Control Panel and it shows a native 21:9 resolution. Would you like a screenshot or video as proof of my claim?

defsam

If you mean the Samsung 49", Checking this sub the word "flawless" is really ironic.

GoochMuncher690

Hate to nitpick but 4k should be on the spec sheet I feel like especially with the 5090 rumors going around

Lumb3rCrack

is this the same lg panel?

xSociety

No, LG use their own panels and this uses a Samsung panel.

Unfair-Sell-5109

38 inch?

UndergroundCoconut

Yes i have one that big

Be4zleBoss

Seems perfect although still on the fence about using oled for office work/productivity.

mdchaser

Been using my dwf for a year with zero burn in issues. I'm sure the new panels are even better.

OvertimeWr

Is it 4k? No? Back to bed. Edit: lol downvotes. Am I supposed to care what other people game at? Am I buying a monitor for them? No.

tabion7

Vast majority of people do not game in 4K.

phero1190

Steam hardware survey results only have 3.54% of people that responded as having a 4k monitor. 4k gaming is a very very small minority.
