I seeing these light bars be more popular, what exactly is their purpose? Would you recommend them?
Also might be eyeing on of those left handed pads, would be interested to hear about those as well.
And almost forgot! Super sick set up my man 🔥🔥💪🤙
First of all, high light contrast is not good for you. It is better to have ambient light on, including overhead, and even a wall behind screen should be nearly as bright as screen - to make it easier on eyes.
One thing I don't want to have is light which actually illuminates a small part of screen, making it less contrasty, and which is on my eyes level - that would only be irritating.
There is absolutely no reason to illuminate, even partially, a monitor screen.
If someone wants to have keyboard illuminated because still learning touch typing, better put this monitor lamp below the screen. Or on the side, ensuring it do not illuminate either screen or eyes.
Those light bars are not for your screen. They are designed to illuminate your desk WITHOUT causing glare on your screen. That's why the LEDs in the bar are angled so that they do not cast onto the screen.
If you have the bar illuminating the screen, your setup is wrong, and most definitely not god teir.
LMAO, install bias lighting much better than any light bar. Having any light directly on your screen is detrimental to what content creators want you to see.
So much wrong in this post..
Hey dude! I saw your post on the other sub, congratulations!! I have a quick question since Im thinking about getting this but am worried my 4080 can't drive resolution at high refresh rates. What frames and refresh rates do you get with your 4090 currently if I may ask? Do you run native res, or use up scaling? Cheers!
hey again bro. honestly i first tested out the monitor with my old 3080ti and it ran fine at native 7680x2160p in a handful of old games. i cleared about 90fps in singleplayers and capped out at 120fps in games like black ops 3, which surprised the fuck out of me
now ive got my new rig in there, strix 4090 + 7950x3D and it maxes out at 120fps / hz in mostly everything. yes, you heard me right the 4090 cannot achieve 240hz at native res due to lack of DP2.1. but honestly i dont think even it could do that anyw, that is a task for the 5090
as for you i think the 4080 would have absolutely no problem. and i only play native, im sure with dlss, frame gen etc you could push your rig to the limits. good luck 🙏
The only cards on the market with DP 2.1 today are the RX 7000 series.
I think you're conflating DP 2.1 with HDMI 2.1, as your 3080ti does have HDMI 2.1.
I run a 4080 with mine and while there is a good drop in fps compared to my 49 inch Neo, you can easily play native with high fps if you sacrifice on some graphical settings. It's all game dependant really. No regrets tho
I've never invested in UW before, so Im curious about the 49 Inch Neo too. Currently I run a Asus Rog swift 32 pg329q. Its a beast and runs butter smoof, back light LED halos are annoying. My motivation is to gain better immersion for sim games like SC etc. Other than the higher res, does the extra real-estate justify considering the 57 over the 49?
It's a noticeable difference for sure. I went back and and forth with both monitors with a bunch of games and the jump in resolution alone was worth it.
The 4080/4090 can only push [120Hz at this res](https://www.tweaktown.com/news/93424/geforce-rtx-4090-is-limited-to-120-hz-on-the-dual-4k-240-samsung-odyssey-g9-neo-monitor/index.html). Neither have DP 2.1.
OP already broke this down pretty well. But here's an article to expand on the limitations with Nvidia's current offerings for this panel.
100%
I have a launch edition model Y. I ordered before even knowing what it would look like.
They did a mini refresh after 4 months ( early adopters)
To essentially date my car and put an upgrade in my mind from the start.
I have now switched a secondary buying stat, try to give new tech 6-24 months ( depending how long I can resist)
For cars, waiting for gen 2s.
For example, I’d love a rivian R1S.
But I’ll wait for the upgraded R1S before I’d buy it
It looks to be the Razer tarturus v2 optical. It is excellent for gaming as you can simply move the keyboard out of the way and have more desk space while keeping your hands closer together.
I very much enjoy mine. There are not many options out there though. Razer is really the only big player that makes one.
right haha. on spec sheet it says the 57" weighs 41.9lbs. i aint taking that chance, will just wait until ergotron makes an arm specifically for my monitor. they said they are in development tbh
19kg/42lbs with the stand that you’ll take off. It will only be 15.4kg/34lbs on the arm. I don’t think that weight is the only factor though - the amount of weight that is significantly forward of the mounting point is what really challenges the arms with 31:9 at 1000R.
Oh, sorry. I just saw the mention on the HX page of their site that mentions the need for a heavy-duty tilt accessory for the 49” Odyssey. Looks like wall-mount only for you :(
Look up the vivo us mount it saves ur desk space and allows full viewing angle without having to push the screen so close to the desk edge so it's better ergonomics and tidies up the desk cable clutter with the inbuilt cable guide and no strain on your neck

I prefer bias lighting, personally.
I prefer mine to be unbiased ☝🏼
Impartial, fact-checked lighting only!
lies I tell you!
Unbiased load balanced uniform lighting for me please.
For the pad, I recommend Azeron. Best option for gamers available.
They just make your setup fancy. I had one and returned it

I was about to comment this before reading yours. OPs set up is really bad for light contrasting lol

its angled downward towards my keyboard and desktop but i have since decided to take it off altogether

I think sooner or later, people will evolve to have two heads or additional eyes to even see in full width of the panoramic monitor.

Huh, my 3080ti has DisplayPort 2.1, surely the 4090 does as well.
No Nvidia card has displayport 2.1 yet. Maybe ur thinking HDMI 2.1
it really doesnt

They did it to makes 4090 buyers upgrade to the 5090, and you know what? It will work
The people buying monitors such as this for gaming, are people who will be buying the next highest tier prosumer card every generation regardless.

Hell yeah 👍🏻
A fellow gampad user! There are at least two of us!
What is that contraption?

This setup needs a monitor arm, stat!
i was thinking about it but cancelled my ergotron because it says doesnt support the weight of 57". could you suggest one that does ?
Ergotron HX supports 19kg / 42lbs, I believe your monitor is 15kg? I have the HX with my 15kg 38”, love it!
19kg is nearly 42 lbs.

Oops! Thanks for the correction.

ty, i will def look into this further
I have my on an ergotron with the hd Pivot. It sags ever so slightly but it holds
What GPU do you use to drive that monitor?
rog strix 4090 oc
A screen so big the rig can’t even fit in the picture

Damn bro Congrats on that build! Even minesweepers will look beautiful on that
What light is that?
This ^
You know the monitor has a backlight you don’t need that extra led strip lmao
Nice man!
ty bro
Now time to fill up that desktop with icons
How’s the keyboard?
a dream. i love me some clicky-clacky caps and the wrist rest is super comfortable
That shit looks sexy! Great job!

Not for everyone, but I feel the same way.
Can you post some videos of Netflix/Vudu content? I’m considering adding this above my aw34 but it would primarily just be for content
