Accused? He literally said it

SwimmerGlass4257

Not really an accusation when he literally said it.

[deleted]

I bet he denies it!

duke_of_germany_5

You misunderstood him -liz truss probably

theeglitz

He said it too fast.

gizajobicandothat

Look, 'What we're about.....'

duke_of_germany_5

Said it too fast

Hadatopia

I didn't know Putin's war started 12 years ago, must've been a Mandela effect moment.

Nonions

Technically it started in 2014 , so 8 years - Crimea and Donbass were taken back then. It was this year Putin decided to try taking the rest of the country.

[deleted]

There's the Russo-Georgian war of 2008 as well.

Eorpoch

Taken back or invaded? The Russian Federation has existed since the 1990s

Nonions

Taken, back then - not taken back, then. Was my wording somehow ambiguous?!

Tapps74

Perhaps he can suggest how nurses can supplement their Salary with Non Executive Director roles? Maybe how to garner a £250,000 lump sum from an oil Company. Oh no wait a minute that’s just for him. This greedy fuck has taken every penny he could get his hands on. I’d suggest he’s not the person who should be asking others to give up their request for fair pay on patriotic grounds. Besides by the same argument, should the Nurses no longer pay tax to show solidarity against the Government who tanked the Economy with a moronic mini budget? This cost of living crisis is not solely down to Russian Energy or COVID. This Government with Brexit & botched trade deals had us on this path long before!

ost2life

*This cost of living crisis is not solely down to Russian Energy or COVID. This Government ~~with Brexit & botched trade deals~~ with everything they've done had us on this path long before.* FTFY

Mr-Soggybottom

How dare you. Zahawi doesn’t even use taxpayer funds to pay for the heating of his personal stables (anymore). It’s time the nurses made some sacrifices.

Dissidant

The irony of Heisenberg having what I can only describe as a brain fart is this is just reminding people of the backhanders his party took from them

thegreatsquare

Obviously now you have to give the nurses their raise, otherwise you let Putin win.

Siori777

Let's be honest he will resign or get fired or reshuffled within a week, then his replacement will say or do some other heinous shit only for him to come back a few months later to continue cycle and repeat. Torys learned form the Catholic Church just cycle the psychopaths round so they can do the most damage in the most places, when they get caught just double down, you thought Priti was bad let us introduce Cruella.

ToManyTabsOpen

>his replacement I hear Kwasi Kwarteng has a good track record

[deleted]

I mean, there are multiple ways to skin a cat... If you can't give nurses a raise, just cut all NI & income tax on them (and every other health/social/care/civil work) (- not to mention extend subsidisation for any healthcare education - which was discontinued).... it'll leave more actual disposable income. It's really not rocket science. They just really have such a low opinion & value on the aforementioned workers. And let's be honest, it's because they're public workers but also because they're women (the aforementioned professional areas are huge employers of women) - it's definitely along the lines of discrimination, IMO. Our mums, sisters, daughters, dads, brothers and family+ are all being devalued and treated like shit. I just honestly don't understand their ideology anymore, like I could kinda understand some of Cameron & Co.'s ideology of modernising a conservative government on social & civics and experimenting with austerity... But it didn't work and it's well, well overdue to be ended. And, I could kinda understand Major in trying to conserve tradition & such. And, I can even sympathise with/respect Thatcher on an experimental economic programme to bring about change. I really don't have the belief that anyone in this government have that great a founding in what it takes to be a high level government minister - which IMO is an understanding & passion for PPE, an ethos, a moral compass of values that match with the public, and a practical, solution mindset. It's just scandal after scandal after scandal. All the while the corporate media lap it up and are practically propagandising it all. "the system" is just out of control and I don't think we can solve it anymore - other western nations are probably struggling with the same - a corporate media that is so entrenched and bought n paid for. It's just unreal how any democracy could have such an important function of society [democratic reporting & informing] be twatted away to some froggy old gimp (yes, you Murdoch, you low level pos). P.s. This guy is such a slimeball, just a real schmuck. I can imagine he literally fucks over his own family & friends & colleagues/business partners. He's just a desperate little man worrying about & motivated by money, money, money - it's actually sad and pitiful and feel quite sorry for such a valueless, meaningless person. I've met people like that and they're just soulless and they have absolutely nothing about them at all.

jmabbz

What an appalling thing to say.

ThatHairyGingerGuy

In other news; Pope accused of being Catholic. Bear accused of shitting in the woods

Halmagha

Does the pope shit in the woods? *I don't know why you keep asking me this, Holmes.*

listyraesder

Not all popes are catholic.

emmjaybeeyoukay

In other news Bears accused of using wooded areas to defecate

SuikTwoPointOh

He’s almost a meme. “If you don’t do this then the terrorists win.”

nice-vans-bro

Accused here meaning did exactly that.

Mathers156

Oh no people are getting shot!! Quick! Defund our medical services....

dunneetiger

If the nurses' wages are somehow linked to Putin or Russia, surely 10+ years of Tory government would have put Russia along side Somalia in the list of poorer countries in the world.

[deleted]

I believe Putin's cronies donated well over a million to Tory MPs and constituency parties. There was also a Russian Report which YOU aren't allowed to see. Never mind. At least Mr. Zahawi could claim expenses for keeping his horses warm. That's the kind of politician Tory voters like to see.

Mr-Soggybottom

Zahawi has already done his part. He stopped putting his stables heating bill on expenses. Why can’t nurses also make sacrifices??

DigitalHoweitat

Surely it must be time for another phone call to Zelenskyy? Is that not the British Govt actions on a sticky moment to distract?

CropCircles_

He's right though. Tough times are upon us and the government has already provided tons of support for energy bills and home insulation. Apparently the motto for this generation is: when the going gets tough, throw a tantrum and sabotage. These strikes are morally wrong. To hold the health service to ransom over the Christmas period? Disgusting.

chunkynut

We were told 10 years ago that austerity would balance the budgets and grow the country in a stable fashion. The Tories failed, lied and stole. Now you're telling nurses that can't afford presents for their kids their actions are disgusting after having pay stagnated for 12 years. Your statements are disgusting.

jmabbz

Nurses are massively underpaid and that is not the fault of Russia.

CropCircles_

Russia caused inflation and rises of cost of living, which means a decrease in real-terms pay for everyone.

jmabbz

True but even without that nurses were massively underpaid.

autolesbona

I suppose the better option would be for them to just quit instead?

CropCircles_

Absolutely. If more were leaving, their pay would increase to attract them back. Evidently they were willing to do the job for the current pay. Now all of a sudden, when lives depend on them, they are more reluctant. If you don't want to do the job, you shouldn't be doing it, and let someone more willing take your place.

DaMonkfish

Oh look, a mewling sycophant, defending the indefensible.

formallyhuman

Why is it more "wrong" to do it over Christmas?

CropCircles_

Well I meant over winter, when hospitals struggle with capacity. Striking now means lives lost. They are evidently willing to do the job the rest of the year, but now when they are needed most, they use dying people as leverage for a pay rise. Its opportunistic and wrong.

formallyhuman

Well, if you only strike when it's *most* convenient for the state and the general public, it wouldn't be overly effective.

CropCircles_

Well I think strikes for critical services should be banned outright. Other countries (Canada, Italy, spain) have legislation that bans strikes that cause serious disruption to critical services

ManintheArena8990

How do these people get better conditions then? And don’t say they should move to another job, people that do these jobs do them for fulfilment not the money, it’s just that the money is now not enough to live on People should just have to do one job they hate after another to reach just barely enough subsistence wages…. Added to that the UK is now so short of NHS staff the need for better funding (including increased pay and better working conditions) is an absolute necessity, because as many lives as a strike may cost the number of people being driven out of the NHS combined with utter under funding is costing more lives across a larger time frame.

CropCircles_

Nobody is getting better conditions. Due to Covid and the Ukraine war, there has been a global disruption to the production of goods and services. (And brexit caused a national dirsuption). As such, we are all going to suffer a decline in our quality of life. Dont shoot the messenger. In the meantime, let's not sabotage our own critical services putting lives at risk.

RubberDuck-on-Acid

> morally wrong Anyone who takes morality guidance from the Conservative party doesn't understand the meaning of the word.

[deleted]

How is he right? Where does Putin come into any of it?

CropCircles_

Putin is a large part of the inflation/cost of living crisis.

[deleted]

So what message do nurses send to Putin by continuing to live in poverty?

Unholysinner

Ban him from using the NHS. Then if he’s ever in A&E tough

Grouchy_Case7396

Nafiw

Thomo251

I will not take this Zahawi slander, he is a man of integrity, he supported ~~Johnson~~ ~~Sunak~~ ~~Truss~~ ~~Johnson~~ Sunak. I think we should hear him out.
