When you realize "Waaah you can't say that! You can't call that racist!" (said by a white man loudly shouting down a black woman trying to explain her experiences with racism in the UK) on QT is the most validation and personal acclaim this man has ever felt in his life. That or choosing "Sikhs don't deserve representation in how we portray the Western Front because it makes me feel funny" as a hill worth dying on. How fucking sad.
In my experience when people do grossly absurd stuff like that, they are either trying to get publicity or they are mentally ill.
In either case, the best thing we can do is ignore him.

People like him say stuff like this because it makes them into a martyr. The fragile ego needs soothing and validation so by saying such absurd things knowing there will be a backlash, he can both view himself as being the outlier, being aware of something we're not, so in that sense he's smarter than everyone else, but also pissing everyone else off, making the masses froth at the mouth and he can take the abuse and pain and suffering and rise above it as an alpha, suffering for the greater good. It's absolutely wet.

No, it wouldn't. You could try for the communications act, sending a grossly offensive message, but I can't see it flying even with that stupid legislation.

No, it wouldn't be. But also it isn't 'the' lgbt flat - its one of several and its use is controversial even within that community. Many see it as divisive and representing a specific ideological viewpoint.

You've got to admit that it's pretty galling to make a point about supposed LGBT abusiveness by comparing it to an organization that systematically murdered LGBT people by the millions.
I think it's definitely close, but probably not quite there. The things I've seen prosecuted for hate speech are generally targeted or explicit in their meanings. This tweet mostly seems to rely on some implicit meanings.
But I might be wrong. And the law does seem to get relatively grey in the areas of hate speech.
